A fair point. My apologies; I had forgotten that the book presumably either does not know or can't/won't provide the answer to that question. You are currently on a task to find this exact thing out. So I'm not allowing this one.
[X] How can I get my ability to cast unlocked with the resources available in the shop?

With that said,
[X] Who or what was bleeding on the floor?
then becomes a considerably more pressing question.
If the answer is "I don't know," or a description of a customer or a stranger uninvolved in the shop's normal operations, then that shapes our investigation of the previous shopkeeper's whereabouts.
If the previous shopkeeper was the person bleeding on the floor, that tells us a lot of important information we need rather pressingly, such as "the shop or its keeper has an enemy willing to resort to lethal violence" and "try to be sure that enemy doesn't come back" and "if you leave the shop to go looking for your predecessor or their mortal remains, you'd better go loaded for bear."
Is the "who or what" question permissible, @Wistways ?
I agree that learning the name would be good but she doesn't even know what the shop is about other than the name. I think its a good idea for her to know to start looking for things like the feather or even a full item in character.I think we may have missed an opportunity by not taking steps to learn who was bleeding all over our floor and why.
Especially since the two questions we did choose are very preoccupied with personal status and power, at the expense of practical concerns like security and figuring out what happened to our predecessor. Admittedly, unlocking our own ability to cast magic would straddle the line between the two categories because we'd be a lot more effective at securing the shop and investigating in the face of real opposition as an actual mage.
I'm not so concerned with learning names as with getting yes/no confirmation to a very simple question I wish we'd asked:I agree that learning the name would be good but she doesn't even know what the shop is about other than the name.
