The Dragon Ascendant: NO SV: Welcome To Another Viserys Targaryen Quest (A Ck2 Quest)

Well we already have Jon and jester running around and the possible blackfyre made me think secret targaryen everywhere. Though I have to ask what does typhon have to do with all this. I thought typhon cause the doom, unless the ritual that emperor guy did just pissed it off.
Typhoons awakening during the Doom was more a symptom then the actual cause

How are Garret and Warrek doing?
Garret is off in Essos helping run our merchant consortium as sort of a representative. He is also trying to Steal the Titan of Bravvos. No I am not making this up.

Warrek is in the city, recuperating from losing a hand, and will show up occasionally to serve as a more low-ranking member of the court, however, due to his lack of position in court, he's been kinda relegated to the background.

Where he likes it.
What's the Hound up to?
He's what the kids call: A Motherfucking Enforcer of our will.

Also, loves chicken, and thinks that chicken should be served every day at court.
Did the emperor get melisandre?
no.

Not only that: Fuck no.
Well ask who you want to know about, and I will answer.

If they aren't spoilers of course.

Well how about…the golden company how are some of their members doing?
Harry Strickland is now on his old ancestral lands, a lot of Bittersteels boys are.

Since they won the war, and you paid them off... Well let's just say that things are going swimmingly for them.

The Mudd Brothers are using their wealth to try and gather up people to rebuild oldstones.

Lady Whent has a few Mercs trying to buy Harrenhall off her to try and repair it.

We have the whole mess with Elrond to sort out if it gets bloody.

And well... that's the thing.

Since they haven't (Rolled) super low and they aren't acting like fucking idiots and murdering people, why should it be brought to our attention?

  • [X]Plan: Queensguard, Assemble!!
-[X]Obara Sand: A Maid of 27, and a skilled poisoner, spearwoman, and whip wielder, one of the more talented warrior women in Westeros that are still alive. She is a master of the more subtle intrigues known throughout the Dornish way of life and in the confidence of your Wife. She also enjoys teasing the chaste and professional Arys Oakheart.
-[X]Brienne of Tarth: A Maid of 18, and now, it seems a magical… girl? By the Gods that sounded terrible. But anyway, the staggeringly tall ugly woman was a powerful warrior that could seemingly tap into the magic of her home, to protect others. Though she has a problem… a Very large one. Her father wishes to marry her off, and she does not want to. And it could lead to political problems if she were to act as a bodyguard even for you.
-[X]Margery Tyrell: A Maid of 14. The Youngest on the list and someone who frankly frightened you. She displays herself as a delicate flower, but you knew she was the smoothest political operator that this next generation may have. There is also a very real possibility that the Tyrells might use her for their own situation… but you couldn't know. But having her as a hostage… may be very very useful. But is it worth the risk?
-[X]Asha Greyjoy: The Lady of Greyjoy… at least in theory, and a maid of 20. She has finally able to leave Sunspear after so long, and the first thing she wanted to do was sail a ship under your command…or that of Lord Stannis. But anywho, she is a skilled fighter, skilled sailor, and brilliant mind that you would love to match wits with. Though she is a bit strange. She claimed a great ax is her husband and a dagger was her child.
-[X]Meera Reed: A Maid of 15, and another northerner. She is a Crannogman, a skilled huntress and some say she is a seer… or that might be her brother, you didn't know. But she does have a keen intellect and other talents that are not entirely known.
[X]Plan: Only Trustworthy Girls for the Queen´s Guard, thank you!!

-[X]Nymaria Sand: A Maid of 24, she is also a child of the Red Viper. However, unlike her elder sister, she is a courtly and intriguing lady. She is more at home in court (and within the bed of maids) than she ever is on a battlefield. There is a small problem, however. Her lustful tendencies and open homosexuality would cause great scandal among the lords and ladies of Westeros… and may cause a great deal of scrutiny on your household.

So a funny action chain just appeared.

So... if the citidel is Oxford...

Does that mean... any institution that we found is Cambridge?

Turn 3 (298 AC H 1)
Turn 3 (298 AC H 1)

It was at the moment, near the start of the morning, that you realized that it was a fucking new year. And not only that, you had certain obligations to deal with.

You were still alive, and people weren't trying to kill you, it was a strange feeling.

"Arianne, please, I'm tired right now, and I am not in the mood right to keep on trying to populate the Red keep with more children." The New year celebration, the feast, and the ensuing madness of hosting a small but well-thought-out group of vessels were over. You had not slept for over two days, and Daeron was not making things easy for you to rest. In fact, you were lucky that it was Oberyns turn to care for your son. Because you couldn't think about how you would sleep tonight. "We can wait until tomorrow morning.

Naked yet decent in the covers, eager with a sly smile on her face, and a comfortable but controlling hug of you was your lovely wife, understanding as she was, she two was stressed, greatly from the past few days festivities. She was tired of all the masks and charades and questions that followed her everywhere. Most certainly, the questions about her mother and the coming wish of her father to join the court. "All this politics bore me Viserys. I want to do things we both will enjoy."

You groaned as you leaned back in bed, and Arianne tried to move forward over you. Your body was sore, and despite having done little in the way of training. "It's not about that."

Arianne, then sat up, covering herself with the sheets as she asked. "Is something wrong Viserys… Are your nightmares coming back?"

Nightmares. That's what she called them. She wanted them to seem less than what they were, intense memories of physical pain and terror. Night Terrors would have been appropriate. Horrors of the Darkness, memories of hell!

It was troubling, to say the least. "Yes."

Immediately, her demeanor changed, gone was your eager and sexual partner, and in came the caring wife you loved deeper with every passing day.

"Tell me about them?" She asked.

A moment passed, and you looked away. "I keep on seeing the Trident, Robert coming towards me, like a demon from the Seven Hells that was unleashed upon me. Every time I tried to run, he would catch me, knocking me into the river, throwing me under the water with his boot-"

You shook your head, a shiver going up your spine as you truly feared. "I…would best discuss these with men who have suffered with me. You wouldn't understand the terror."

That made Arianne look at you. "Not understand? Viserys you Bastard, don't you tell me what I don't understand?"

"Have you been in battle? Have you ever killed a man?" You asked. "Have you ever seen your life flash before your eyes, and realize that the end was near and that you could not do anything to stop it?"

Arianne, thankfully, did not hesitate to answer. "No. But I am yours, and you are mine. That means your troubles are mine, and I will do everything in my power to help you. To make things better."

You sighed, "Ahh, maybe we should start the day…the concern ourselves with what we cannot avoid."

"I agree Viserys." She stated. Then she hugged you. "Let us sleep, and then we will decide what we should do in the morning?"

As you drifted to sleep, your heartbeat matched hers.

And you didn't have nightmares that night.

Now… Let's begin a new year.

Special Projects (not required; may choose one)
These will take most of the year to plan and execute.

[ ] A Royal Progress: A grand tour of the realm hasn't been done by a Targaryen in almost 200 years. You would tour the Seven Kingdoms over the course of the year, holding court in various locales as you went. Most of the Small Council would remain in King's Landing to perform their tasks.
[ ] Hail the Conquering Hero: A grand tour of the former Freehold has its appeal to you, and it never hurts to remind the Free Cities that Westeros is the world power on this side of the world, not them. You would tour select Free Cities and surrounding areas over the course of the year. Most of the Small Council would remain in King's Landing to perform their tasks.
-[ ] Write-in four Free Cities/regions to tour, subject to QM approval. Andalos or Selhorys are acceptable write-ins, for instance, while Yi-Ti or Qarth are not.

Projects (pick two per category, except when stated otherwise.)

Diplomacy
Advisor: Ned Stark

[ ] Princess of Songs: Few things can capture minds and sway opinions like a good song. If Dany writes something good enough, and you pay bards to play it in the right places, you can stealthily change the public opinion. DC 60. Reward: Improve Happiness, change public opinion on a topic of choice. (5,000 Dr)

[]The Trading Contracts of The East: Robert was utterly fucking the Ream with his agreements to the Freee Cities, losing millions of Gold and Silver to the East, and saw nay a fucking copper for the trouble back. You need to begin to renegotiate those trade deals. DC: 80 Reward: You begin to renegotiate the contracts that Westeros is in. (10,000 DR)

[]Hold Court: You have quite a list of your proclamations to make public to the Lord's of the Realm, and they have their own Greviences that they need to be Aired. It is high time to hold a High Court and make the next coming years known, and hopefully, bearable to the Lord's and Ladies of the Realm DC:55 Reward: You let the Realm know your Objectives, and judge their reactions. (5,000 Dr)

[]The Rogare Connections: You remember a long time ago, that the Lysine and the Rogares in particular still need to be reminded that you own their asses, literally and figuratively. And they are committing to actions that are beneficial to themselves, and not to you. Remind them that they are the Humble servants of Valaar Vealtigar. And not to themselves. DC: 40 Reward: You remind those cunts that you are the one that makes the decisions in Lys, not them. You don't even need the Dragon to make that point, but it certainly helps. (2,000 Dr)

[ ] Frey'd Lines: Many Houses across the Riverlands, Stormlands and the Reach are now in contention over who should inherit -- with a truly alarming number of men from House Frey in the wings. Lords Hoster, Mace and Stannis can only do so much, and they have asked for Royal assistance in settling these matters. DC 50. Reward: inheritances are settled, some lords may be displeased with results (2,500 Dr)

[ ] Befriending the Banners: The Crownlands are unique among the kingdoms, in that they answer directly to you. Although these lords can be eccentric, they are yours, and you want them loyal. You'll host a series of feasts and worth through inviting them all, to listen to their concerns and assure them of your goodwill. DC 45. Reward: improved relations, information. (30,000 Dr)

[]Host a Feast: You know that Winter is coming, and perhaps it would be poor form for you to feast while the City still rebuilds, but you are not in the business of making a poor showing to your vessels. And While Lord Stannis may not like this, you are sure it will be a good time DC: 50 Reward: You have a party for your court and your people. Perhaps one last one before winter. (10,000 DR)

Martial (Choose 1)

Advisor: Stannis Baratheon

[]The First Class: Damn Stannis. You really decided to go all out on trying to make this Naval Academy work? Howm many people tried to bribe you for the first 200 men? DC: ??? Reward: You see how Stannis handles his Navy and his new officers.

[]A Fleet For All: Your Navy… new navy that is, does not have any ships of it's own, save for a few from Dragonstone. That will not do. You need to build them ships that bring things that re needed. DC: 55 Reward: You begin building a fleet for your navy. (100,000 Dr.) (Requires 10 Successes)

[ ] Pomp and Circumstance: You know what everyone (except Stannis) loves? Tournaments. Throwing a lavish tourney is a surefire way to improve the mood of your subjects noble and common alike (saving, perhaps, the Master of War). Young, bold knights will be eager to make their names on the field, and disgraced houses will be hopeful to earn favour with good showings. DC 50, improve Happiness of King's Landing, improve your reputation with attending nobles, participants may improve their Martial. (60,000 Dr)

[ ] A Gold Standard: The City Watch is poorly equipped, poorly trained, and you're as likely to find an extortionist as you are a good man in the uniform. Bywater would like your permission (and the aid of the Master of War) to clean house, get proper men, proper equipment and proper training. DC 60. Reward: increase quality of the Gold Cloaks to Trained/Full Strength. (15,000 Dr) (locks for 2 rounds)

[]The Watchers of the Sea: There have been reports. Troubling reports that the long-standing slave Trade that had once revved Westeros shores are making a return in force, for the first time in three hundred years. Hundreds of Ships are prowling, waiting to take cargo away from your lands, and back to Slavers bay, or worse, to the warring nations of Essos. Lord Stannis has requested a great budget increase, to allow the ships to patrol the narrow sea, and to stop any ship flying Slaver colors. DC: 65 Reward: You begin a campaign of Sea Born protection across the Narrow Sea Coastline, to protect your people and your property.

[ ] The Kraken's Men: Many men can sail and many men can fight, but few can sail and fight like the Ironborn can. Your Master of Ships is floating the idea of training a small, elite force of Ironborn that can fight at land or sea. DC 65. Reward: found the Iron SEALs. (15,000 Dr)* (locks for 2 rounds)

Stewardship

Advisor: Mace Tyrell (Oleana Tyrell) (Choose 1)

[ ] Nests Within Nests: You can't tell much, given the state of recordkeeping towards the end and the nature of those involved, but you do at least know that Petyr Baelish had a bizarre web of influence and ownerships, the boundaries of which even you couldn't begin to guess at. You'll task Ser Harry with trying to disentangle this Meereenese knot. DC 90. Reward: Baelish's 'ledger' becomes comprehensible, a more complete picture of finances and assets gained. (7,500 Dr) (locks for two rounds)

[]Roads, and all their Glory (King's Landing): You look at the decaying Roads of King's Landing, and see only the shit caked streets and dirt path where there should be stone and marble. DC: 50 Reward: You examine the Roads of the City, and discover if any of them can be salvaged, and what it may cost to repair it. (1,000 DR)

[]Roads and How they Make Trade: The King's Road, and the major road system that were created by Jaeherys the Chancellor, and one of the main arteries of Trade throughout Westeros. They have also not been repaired since they were made, save for minor improvements by the Riverlords in the Riverlands, due to an unusually active merchant class wishing to keep the roads well maintained. DC: 50 Reward: You begin to survey the King's Road, and find out it's condition. (Needs two success to succeed.) (2,500 Dr)

[]The Census of Westeros (The Crownlands): Westeros has not had a proper census in its entire history, just local counting, and guesswork that relied heavily on local tax collectors being smart enough to write it down. You are going to change that by doing something modern in this world. Actually doing something new. DC: 60 Reward: You begin a true census of the entire Westerosi Population. (Needs two successes to succeed.) (2,500 Dr)

[ ] A New City: King's Landing is overcrowded; anyone can see that. About the only thing that can be done at this point is to organize the settlement of a new district. This is going to be a massive and years-long project. DC 40. Reward: Complete the planning stage for the new district. (5,000 Dr)

[ ] Brown Bile: King's Landing's sewer system dates back to the reign of King Jaehaerys I, when the city was a lot smaller. You want to expand and modernize it into something that will keep the city, as much as possible, from smelling like human waste. DC 70. Reward: begin work on new sewers, increase Health significantly when the project is completed. (50,000 Dr) (This project must succeed 5 times to be completed)

[ ] A Stable for Dragons: The ruins of the Dragonpit still stand atop Rhaenys' Hill. Now that there are dragons living in King's Landing again, you might want to rebuild it so you have a place to keep them by the time they're old enough to really cause trouble. DC 50. Reward: the Dragonpit is rebuilt. (75,000 Dr) (This project must succeed 4 times to be completed)

[ ] Fools' Errands: the maps of the world have largely looked the same for centuries (save for Valyria becoming an archipelago of misery and death). The Shivering Sea seals away the North beyond places like Hardhome and the Wall, the Sunset Sea has never been defined beyond the Targaryen Islands (not terribly far to the West) the East is legends and mysteries beyond Yi Ti, and none since Jaenara have ventured beyond the coasts of Sothoryos. You'd like to do something about this, beginning by funding some ships to start mapping as much of the world as possible. DC 80. Reward: an "Outbound Fleet" takes shape, and exploration of the world begins anew. (65,000 Dr)

Intrigue
Advisor: Oberyn Martell

[ ] Develop Spy Network (Region): Set your Master of Whispers to finding informants. You want to know what your lords are trying to keep hidden. DC 70. Reward: get additional insights along with the standard rumors that everyone hears. (25,000 Dr) (Please specify region when voting) (may be taken twice for multiple regions)

[ ] Sins of the Father: Your father's last mad plan never came to fruition, but it left a lot of wildfire scattered around the city, and Jaime doesn't know the locations of all the caches. You'll start trying to quietly track down a paper trail or anyone who knows of something strange. DC 75. Reward: locate the lost wildfire caches. (5,000 Dr) (This project must succeed 3 times to be completed) (⅓ Compleated)

[ ] From Forth the Fatal Loins: The Usurper is dead and buried, and so are his (alleged) legitimate children. But what of the illegitimate? Just because Lord Stannis has renounced his claim to the throne doesn't mean that a bastard of Robert's with sufficient charisma and cunning couldn't make a claim and find themselves with backers against you. You know of a few, but only a few. You'll task Prince Oberyn to find the rest. DC 75. Reward: discover the natural-born children of Robert Baratheon, their personalities, and locations. (7,500 Dr)

[ ] Three is Auspicious, but…: More dragons are better, right? You came across your three dragon eggs by chance, but surely these were not the only three eggs left in the world. DC 85. Reward: possibly discover other dragon eggs??? (15,000 Dr)

[]The Dragon's of the East: You have two children out in Volantis that are Slaves in all but name. Perhaps you can show retrive them, and handle the situation that may come. You do not believe in anything… but your blood will never be slaves. DC: ??? (Dr 10,000)

[]The White Wolf: Jon Snow… He is your brothers son. Perhaps… You wihs to see just how much of your brother there is in him. Reward: You meet Jon Snow, and realise that the apple does not fall from the tree.

Learning
Advisor: Grand Maester William

[ ] The Higher Mysteries: Magic exists in this world. Your dragons are proof of it. Your dreams are proof of it. Seven Hells, whatever nightmarish things Euron Greyjoy got up to would also qualify. But it is unknown to you. This is where your request to the Citadel regarding the new Grand Maester comes in. DC 55. Reward: learn about magic, ??? (5,000 Dr)

[ ] The Dragon's Bane: Wildfire was an obsession of your father, and of other Targaryens before him (Aerion 'Brightflame' makes your father look sane in contrast). You like a bit of fire and destruction as much as the next dragon, but maybe there is something else here? DC 60. Reward: gain understanding of wildfire's properties, potential uses (10,000 Dr)

[ ] Silence Lay Steadily Against the Wood and Stone: You know hardly anything about Summerhall, one of the darkest marks in your family's long and checkered history in Westeros. Your brother went there often, but spoke nothing of it; your father wouldn't hear the name in his presence; your mother wept at the very thought of it. Perhaps an impartial third party, an observer like the Grand Maester, can give you the salient details – what the buildup was, what if anything went wrong, anything you don't know but should. DC 75. Reward: information about Summerhall, ??? (7,500 Dr)

[]A Mind needs… Something: You have always wondered why there were not more institutions like the Citidel around Westeros. Surely these insisuttions existed in some shape of capacity over the last thousand or so years. Why are there not more? The Citidel can't be the only one? DC: 70 Reward: Learn why the citadel is the only institution of Higher Learning here in Westeros. And what it might take to build more. (1,000 DR)

[]Healing the Sick, and Other signs of Godliness: There is, at least after traveling the Free Cities, a disturbing lack of health in the City of King's Landing, and perhaps, everywhere in Westeros. Why is blazes is this health crisis not made another Summer of Pox, like the Great Spring Sickness! DC: 75 Reward: You look into a great problem in Westeros, a public health crisis and how it can be minigated. (1,000 DR)

[]The Civil War of the Citadel (The Dreamers): In one corner, of the great mess and cluster fck that is the Citidel starting to tear itself apart, are the dreamers. Men who believe that the citadel has long stayed stagnant. DC: ??? Reward: You make contact with the Dreamers.

[]The Civil War of the Citadel (The Traditionalists): On the other hand of the madness, is the Hightower traditionalists, ones who wish to keep to their sacred oaths and obligations to the letter and ask that you set a good example for the Dreamers, if only for the Sanity of the Relm itself that depends on them. DC: ??? Reward: You make contact with the Traditionlists.

Faith:
(Choose one as you have no advisor for this category)

[[A Good Sheperd: You have heard Rumors of two Septons in the Riverlands, one a wandering Septon who knows the Seven Pointed Star by Memory, who wanders the trail of the Riverlands trying to help any that need it. He is known as Meribald, and he is the man who heals Broken men. DC: 50 Reward: You meet Septon Meribald, and see why this man is a healer of Broken men.

[]His Flock: There is another Rumor, of a septon and his flocking building a Sept. They are a hardy group of people, people who are good, and just. The Brother, a man called Ray, wishes only to help his people, and his Flock, and live his life in a way that worthy to the Gods. They say he is a good man. They also say, he's funny as the Seven Hells. DC: 50 Reward: You meet Septon (brother, he considers himself a humble brother) Ray.

[ ] What Made the Red God Red?: Lord Stannis Baratheon and his wife Selyse are open devotees of the Lord of Light, after a servant of the Red God saved their daughter's life. A Red Priestess named Melisandre was once so interested in meeting you she put a bounty on you. Just what is the deal with the Red God and his followers, anyway? DC 50. Reward: gain information about R'hllor and his disciples (2,000 Dr)

[]The Cruel's Legacy: You are not going to let your people be burned by an inquisition that is unlawful, unornigzed and unsanctioned. These people are not the Law. YOU ARE! DC: ??? Reward: You use Dragonfire, in a very controlled Manner.

Personal (Pick Three)

[]The Youngest Dragon: You have not been able to spend a great deal of time with Daeron as you wanted to. You want to spend time with your son. And be the man, the father… you wished you had. DC: 0 Reward; You are the Father to a son you never want to lose.

[ ] Sharper than the Sharpies: You may not officially run your merchant enterprise anymore, but the intrigues involved are what you truly excel at, and if you're honest with yourself, you sometimes miss the fun of it. Allows you to take on an additional Intrigue task.

[ ] A Bent Copper: You remember well what happened to the last king when he didn't pay close enough mind to his financials. Seven Hells, his situation was so dire that you sent him a million gold dragons as a taunt once. While you're certainly no indulgent wastrel, you'd like to get better with coin. Stewardship/Learning, DC: 60. Reward: increase Stewardship, gain related traits, may improve some relationships (Free)

[ ] Beyond the Veil: You have little to no control over your visions. You would like to try and improve upon this. Maybe the Grand Maester knows something, maybe someone wrote on this once, anything – you need guidance. Willpower, DC 50. Reward: may unlock Seer traits, other options (Free)

Heroes (Pick one task each)

Happy and whole. You agree. DC: 55 Reward: Dany Goes Traveling across Westeros with her Dragon, and she meets with the Lord's of Westeros.

[]The Dragon and the Lion: Your sister has been spending quite a bit of time with Lord Tywin Lannister. This would not be unusual if it were not for the fact that you do not trust Lord Tywin at all in any way… whatsoever. But she wished to learn Politics from the Best, and there is no one better, than Lord Tywin Lannister. DC: 60 Reward: Dany and Tywin learn from one another. And you cringe at how much Dany, Arya and Tywin complement each other.

Reward: increase Martial and Intrigue, may gain combat-related and intrigue-related traits. (Free) (assigns the Sand Snakes to Dany for the round)

Aegon Targaryen

Willpower, DC 60. Reward: increase Willpower, may gain related traits. (Free)

Garret of Saltpans
[ ] Port of Call:
A trading company would be sort of silly without having operations of some kind in as many major port cities as possible, and the Consortium is not silly. Garret will begin to expand from Lys and Braavos, working to get a foothold in various port cities. Intrigue/Diplomacy, DC & cost varies by port city (write-in 3 target cities, subject to QM approval)

[ ] Hoist the Colours: You know a profitable venture that you never got yourself into? Piracy. [ ] Settling Accounts: Once upon a time, you had to flee your home in Braavos, thanks to the amorality of the servant's Ser Willem Darry had hired. It would be unbecoming for a King of Westeros to stoop so low, but hey – that's what Tigaros is for. Intrigue, DC 35. Reward: reclaimed items lost from Ser Willem's home, sweet sweet vengeance, ??? (5,000 Dr)

[ ] Tempting Fate: You survived the Doom of Valyria once, with the help of Ser Jaime and Lord Gerion and no small amount of luck. So far, everyone else that's tried has failed where you succeeded. Intrigue/Martial, DC 90. Reward: information on failed expeditions, secrets and treasures lost in Valyria, ??? (100,000 Dr)

[ ] Selling Swords: Besides trading and whoring, the most profitable work in the world is mercenary work. []Ladys of Silk and Steel: The Queensguard… scare you. That is a good thing of course, but you fear that something is going to be strange. [ ] A Learned Lady: Your Queen is even more well-read than you, and she might be the only person in the Red Keep able to keep pace with the Grand Maester. (Allows you to take on an additional Learning Project) (Please specify which one when voting)

[]The Boys in Gold: These boys are nothing but up jumped citizens and stableboys, men who are not trained for this kind of work. But they do good work anyway, whatever the price.
