[X] Zed's True Name - The true name of a demon lord gives one a certain measure of power over them. She will be able to force him to materialise in her presence, and there are other sorcerous uses for a name.

[X] His Purpose in the Armies of Hell - The hierarchy of the demon city named Malfeas are convoluted, but you have heard each one serves a purpose in the quest of the demon kings to cast down all that is righteous. If you know his purpose, you will know what he can do and something of what his plans may be.

True-name targeted curses and whatnot are fun villainy, but Aleph is persuasive here.

Also our apprentice is adorable, especially when she begrudgingly acknowledged our skill and value to her (in the original stakes, wanting our teaching either way, and at the end when she conceded).

As far as the temple meeting..... I cannot be the only one reading "Lunars" written in between all the lines, can I? Whether or not the priestess herself is one (got a mild vibe of that), the Goddess is definitely part of Luna's court and in some contact with those exalts riiiight? Could even be somehow related to the oddity of claiming to have faced this demon in Cazhor despite rat-goddess not knowing her or whatever made Rena suspicious. Lunars are long-lived of course, and with the talk of having to hide from power I wonder if Lela has gone by other names before.

Ha ha ha no, not a lunar goddess. At all. Although you are correct with the many names thing.

Say hello to Lelabet, the Night Hare, Demon of the Second Circle, Messenger Soul of Noh

The question isn't what the temple can give us - this is all info they trivially have access to, thanks to the whole "being a demonic cult" thing. The question is how they're trying to manipulate the situation for their benefit.

Gotta love Hellish politics leading to one giving up the weaknesses of another. Thanks Lelabet.

Rena knows that Zed had cursed Jarida Dal to be unable to reveal his true name. She knows it's something he really wants hidden. Therefore, she would seek to learn it, if only to spite him.

We are very good at making contracts, after all. Also, presumably, if we learn Zed's true name we'll probably be able to find out what he does back in Hell with some research.

Rena has said multiple times that she's not a demonologist, has no interest in demonology and barely understands the most basic dynamics of Hell. We're not getting two votes for the price of one here; whichever we pick implicitly means not knowing the other two. That's how quest votes work.

What's a name if it cant get you the other two? Do we really think that knowledge follow up is accessible?

Also implicitly Rena being used as a pasty by Hell? Its kinda strange only Now after the whole 5 nights in a tree with a demon lord that they invest us with power.

I'm not trying to get two votes for the price of one? I picked the option I did because it seemed more immediately useful. Rena might not have any interest in demonology, but she does have an interest in names. She's done tons of stuff with names throughout the game. I figured in this case, knowing the true name of a Demon Lord who seemed pretty keen on keeping it a secret would be valuable.

I assumed you were trying to get two votes for the price of one from the way you said "presumably, if we learn Zed's true name" - which is one vote - "we'll probably be able to find out what he does back in Hell" - which is a second vote - "with some research". Which you can tell. Because I quoted you saying that part, and specifically that part, in a way that made it obvious I was replying to that part rather than anything about his name being valuable (which I agree it would be, but only if we are planning to encounter him again, which we should be actively planning against).

The point I was making was that Rena does not have any demon-research materials, does not want any demon-research materials, doesn't know where to get any demon-research materials and in general is not going to be gaining all the benefits of one of the options we didn't vote for as an extension of one we did with a nebulous wave at "some research" as justification. So no, we will not be able to do that. The votes are separate, thus if we do learn his True Name, we implicitly don't learn his weakness or his role in the armies of Hell.

Honestly, picking this one just because I want to know.

It's still very weird for me to have the evil demon lord have my name. Maybe if we get something else to call him, that won't feel as weird.

Would a non-demonologist be able to grasp the context of the Zed's purpose in the armies of Hell? And if so, would she be able to make use of it to prevent him from hunting her down? I would assume the purpose of a demon lord to be something like (using Lelabet as an example)

These are the truths that Lelabet spreads through Creation: all kings are usurpers, all priests are liars, and all heroes are hypocrites. Her soft lips and silver tongue whisper these words into the ears of doubters, and play on those feelings of unease and scepticism.

Which is useful if you want to avoid her taking you down because you are ascendant, as is her nature ,but less so if she's planning to stab you because she personally hates your guts.
