You didn't waste time asking if Amy could cast something to help track Buffy down. Amy wasn't entirely certain, but she cast an invocation to Hermes to help find her, and set off following something only she could see. You and Willow ran along behind her, Willow quietly letting out the occasional quiet worry under her breath. You entered through the sewers, which were shockingly not as terrible as you felt they should have been, and ended up lead to an area of rocky caverns you hadn't known existed under Sunnydale at all.
"Buffy!" You ran ahead as you spotted her on the ground in a puddle. No, you couldn't be too late! You refused to be too late. You pulled her out of the puddle she'd fallen into. You checked her heart. Nothing. CPR might still be enough. You immediately started. You had never been so glad that Willow had dragged you and Jessie along to get certified with first aid back in middle school. You thought you heard her bones crack.
Suddenly Buffy took a breath and coughed. "We got her! We got her." You quickly moved to support her along with Willow.
"I'm-I'm alive," Buffy gasped. She took a deep breath.
"Careful, think I broke something," you warned her.
"No. No, I'm ok now." Buffy took another breath. "Maybe even better." She stood up. You looked at Amy and Willow uncertainly. Together you followed after Buffy out of the creepy caves. She seemed to know what she was doing now better than she ever had before. Willow gasped as the school came into view, swarming with vampires. "Oh no. Giles! Ms Calendar!" Willow cried.
You pulled out your stake. "Got anything for us Ames?"
"Ah, I can try an invocation to Athena," Amy offered.
"You do that, I'm finishing this," Buffy said firmly. She started wading through the vampires easily destroying any that tried to stop her. Moments like this really hammered in the difference between your own efforts and Buffy's superhuman abilities. You were just doing all you could to keep the vampires back from Amy and Willow.
Out of nowhere a car came in hitting several of the vampires. Cordelia looked over at you all from inside. "Get in before they start swarming again!" You didn't hesitate to clamber in.
"This is unexpected," you said breathlessly.
"They tried to hit me when I was sitting out where-where me and Kevin used to hang," Cordelia admitted. Right, her boyfriend had been killed by the vampires. "Where do we go?"
"Library," Willow said quickly. "We need to get to Giles and Ms Calendar!"
"Got it." Cordelia revved up and drove through the swarm and partway up the stairs. You all climbed out and raced down to the library. A partial barricade had been set up.
"Giles! Let us in!" you shouted. Ms Calendar and Giles managed to open up the barricade just enough for you all to get in, and then help fortify the library even further.
"Can't believe my library's right over the hellmouth," Giles blustered.
"Just focus on keeping them out," Ms Calendar said as she whacked at a tentacle that was coming up from one of the cracks in the ground.
"Did Buffy-is this everyone?" Giles asked.
"Buffy's fine," Willow said quickly.
"Just on her way to beat the Master," you agreed.
It felt like you held the seige for forever before the skylight above shattered, and Buffy came through it with the Master. He was impaled on the broken wood from the cracks and shattered to dust, leaving behind only bone. There was a whoosh of warm air, and the rest of the vampires around turned to dust as the hellmouth beneath the library closed once more. You all took a deep breath.
"Well. That happened."
"Bit of an understatement there Xander," Willow said.
"We made it though," Amy added. You grinned at her. "Yeah. We did."
"Now what?" Willow asked.
