Problem Child (Deviant: the Renegades Quest)

legs, eyes, and the ability to talk, we really lucked out, as a lack of any of those things are possible drawbacks. I totally understand why Mutant isn't an option, since being able to grab whatever Variation we want at any time would make it difficult to plan.

Blessing is the funniest power in the setting. It lets us create beneficial plot twists, cause our enemies to suffer negative plot twists, and at high levels can allow us to just not be there in case of an ambush, or let anyone we know just happen to be in a scene with us if they want to be

I think having blade wings would be pretty cool. Maybe some like some blades that passively float in the shape of wings when active but not currently in use. Having the ability to fold them away would be nice.

There were a few reasons I didn't offer mutant as an option, but this was definitely a big one. I'm sure it works well in an actual tabletop campaign, but for a quest it's just way too finicky. It'd also be damn near impossible for me to convey to you all what your capabilities actually are unless everyone owned a copy of the rule book. That's really not how this is supposed to work, so mutant gets the axe.

I wanna see a clever little non combat cyborg Home Alone the fuck out of the Web of Pain, one way or the other.

[] Your soul – You're able to reach out and touch… something. Something beyond yourself, maybe beyond all of humanity. It lets you do extraordinary things, but you're not sure where it came from. You don't think the doctors are responsible, it scares them too much. Sometimes it scares you too. (Clade: Coactive)
[] Write-in – Power – They're building something, and they need you as a part of it, to power it somehow.

[X] Your body (flesh) – You've had more surgeries than you can count, been given injections of too many things you don't know how to pronounce, and had organs added to your body that you're pretty sure humans aren't supposed to have. Frankly, you're not even sure if you're human at this point. A human body shouldn't be capable of the things you can do. (Clade: Chimeric)
[X] Infiltration – Some of the tests are almost like games: hide from these people until time is up, get from here to there without being spotted, get out of this place without getting shot, things like that. Granted, you think most games don't use live ammunition, but it's not a problem if you don't get caught, right?

Hmm, I don't know that I can really accept that write-in, sorry.

I might not have been super clear when I set up the vote, so let me go ahead and clarify things a bit. The purpose of that second vote is to figure out what skills and powers you have. It's supposed to let me know what things to prioritize when when I'm statting things up and filling out the character sheet. I think I'll have a hard time making a character who's good at being a big battery.

It's a write-in that makes sense in the context of "what does this evil lab need this little girl for," but it doesn't really work in the context of "how do I get a functional main character out of this"

Sorry if the way I phrased the vote was confusing, I'll try to be a clearer in the future.

How am I supposed to make a decision? These all sound awesome.

A cephalist clade feels like it jives well with the lacking stimulation, and a combat focus feels like it ties in well with 37's vibes and the previously shown willingness to kill. The narrative of these researchers forcing 37 to develop combat-oriented powers and depriving her of any stimulation other than using and practicing them, setting her up into a ticking time bomb just waiting to blow up in their faces feels really juicy.

Other times, they just lock you in a room with a bunch of people and don't let you out until you're the last one standing. You've killed people, and it's clear you'll kill a whole lot more before they're done with you.

I appreciate myself some good old body horror, so the Chimeric clade sounds about right to me.

[X] Your body (metal) – You are more than just flesh and blood. You have circuits in your brain and wires in your bones. Again and again you're put under the knife so that parts of you can be replaced with steel and silicon. At this point, you might be more machine than not. (Clade: Invasive)

Nanomachines, son.

I think this would be somewhat like that, as soon as i read that Plan name and that it was a female test subject i thought of Chell.

[X] Plan There Will Be Cake, Right?

Strange pieces of technology in your body is an option for the origin of the powers, and i think that going from one place to the other without getting shot is basically what you did in Portal, there were turrets trying to shot you if they saw you, and aren't puzzles games?

So I'll probably close the vote some time tomorrow. Right now we're looking at a Coactive focused on intelligence and information gathering, probably with some luck powers in there, but it's still pretty up in the air.

I miiiiight hold a runoff vote depending on how this turns out, just because the votes are a bit scattered right now and that makes the results kind of messy. Maybe not, it depends on whether or not there's an obvious winner. I'd just rather go forward with a clear consensus instead of the loudest voice in the crowd.

That's totally on me by the way, I probably should have structured the vote a little bit differently. But hey, it's my first quest, there's bound to be some growing pains.

Another new plan, just because. The idea of fucky identity issues from infiltration training and weird body shit seems like it could be interesting. Not sure if there's a power that lets you disguise yourself as someone else, but that could be fucked up too.

There's definitely a power that lets you disguise yourself as someone else, and there's some drawbacks that can play into identity issues. Multiple identities, amnesia, and hallucinations are all on the table.

Edit: and because I saw it get mentioned, teleportation powers are also an option if we want to go all in on the Portal theme. The character creation system is pretty flexible, so if you've got an idea there's probably a way I can make it work.
