Introduction:
Hello there you willy space rascals, here is another space quest game after my first game had to be jettisoned to deep space. Since then I gained a lot of lessons and experiences of how to run an entertaining and engaging quest game. In today's episode of Dragon Ball Z our world(and the solar system) is about to be destroyed by an approaching neutron star, therefore it is up to you players to pack your things and get the hell out of dodge for greener pastures.

Mechanics: This game will be running on a d100 system for the most part, but players will also be making plans that will not be determined by dice but instead by the quality of the plan. New mechanics will be introduced and added to this thread throughout the progression of the quest.
  • Resources: Having resources is a crucial component of the quest as we traverse to the stars and settle on our new home. Having a surplus will allow them to fund action slots. Resources can be gained by spending our action slots, and also be used as currency to spend on certain action slots.
  • Actions: These are projects in which the survivors will set up every turn that will aid in our development, can be from constructing infrastructure, research technologies, or survey particular areas for exploration, completion can be done through reaching a DC or the total sum of the project. Actions will also include categories such as construction, research, military, etc.
  • Events: Through the quest players will be presented with events in which they will have to make some choices in order to proceed further, d100 or an action plan will determine the outcome of the event with potential rewards and consequences:
  • Ships and Stations: Through the quest players will have access to build and deploy space crafts and stations. Having said that, assets in space will facilitate buffs to our action slots, events would also allow players to deploy such vessels, the same can be said about stations. However construction of this stuff requires plenty of resources.
  • Political Power: A special resource point that can be used to spend on an action instead of using your resources points, however they can be gained through either unique actions or events.
  • Omakes Bounties: At the end of every turn players will have the opportunity of earning additional rewards by writing an omake provided by the QM. The QM will only give out a prompt of the premise of the omake, players will have to come up with the title and write the whole omake. Prior to writing an omake you must first make a post claiming the prompt. Upon completing an omake you can choose the next available one. Also even when votes are closed you can continue to write the omake until I make the announcement for the omake postings to be closed. Upon completion the QM will provide options for its reward.
Edit 5/29/22: Omake Bounties has being updated with new information…

Turn 0: Evacuation

Humanity has been one of the most successful species on the blue world they call Earth for thousands of years, colonizing every continent that had to offer. Humans through their fast technological advancement were able to conquer both land, air and sea, but also many challenges either natural or artificial could have brought the end of mankind. Collapse of empires, emergence of plagues, apocalyptic world wars, natural disasters and climate change, all of those could had brought humanity to heel, but against all odds the species continued to move forward into the 21st century, and dreams to expand their domain and curiosity beyond their home planet were becoming closer to reality…that is until that dream would become a necessary component to their survival.

In the year 20XX, the LUVOIR space telescope, the most advanced telescope ever made by mankind, would detect a rogue neutron star heading towards the solar system. No technology humans can throw will impede the trajectory of the apocalyptic star, estimates show that the star would reach the inner planets within 80 years potentially bringing the end of human civilization as we know it.

As the neutron star approaches the solar system, it is said that humanity has about 8 decades before the Earth hits the crapper. With the news of the impending doom, the world…
(choose one)
[X] falls to chaos as one country decides to draft plans to send its citizens towards a new home in space ( 2 actions, 4 resource points)
[X] falls to chaos as a few countries capable of space travel decide to cooperate together to send its citizens towards their new home in space ( 3 actions, 3 resource points)
[X] barely holds together as the United Nations takes the lead to save as many people as possible to find a new home in space ( 4 actions, 2 resource points)

With a short deadline to evacuate Earth before its imminent destruction, with its limited resources and latest advancement of technology, humanity would pool their resources to construct…(choose one)
[X] Nuclear Pulse engines ( 4 turns until arrival, - 5 on your rolls during the journey)
[X] Ion Drive engines ( 2 turns until arrival, - 10 on your rolls during the journey)
[X] Warp Drive engines ( 1 turn until arrival, - 20 on your rolls during the journey)

With all resources being used for the production of ark ships, the question becomes the quantity of ships versus the quality of ships, eventually they would settle with…(choose one)
[X] Small vessels (+ 50 ships, + 1 resource points, - 5 on your rolls during the journey)
[X] Medium vessels (+ 25 ships, + 2 resources points, - 10 on your rolls during the journey)
[X] Large vessels (+10 ships, + 3 resources points, - 15 on your rolls during the journey)

As humanity begins to make plans to depart, though they already made inventory of the necessary tools and resources to jumpstart civilization on a new planet, available storage has being made to bring the following…(choose three)
[X] ship parts replacement
[X] military equipment
[X] farming equipment
[X] mining equipment
[X] construction equipment
[X] world heritage artifacts
[X] nuclear weapons

Omake Bounties:
- The first person to discover the neutron star…

- You are about to give the most important speech in your entire career…(completed by Magoose)

- You receive by email about being "pre-selected"…

[X] Plan Spacers
-[X] falls to chaos as a few countries capable of space travel decide to cooperate together to send its citizens towards their new home in space ( 3 actions, 3 resource points)

So I'm NGL I'm going to deliberately vote to turn us into space nomads: fuck settling on a single planet, we'll establish colonies on all planets as we wander the galaxy.

Very bold to assume that we might become space nomads but hey depending on the outcome of the next turn, that could become an option

If it don't happen it don't happen, but I just think it'd be really cool to wander the stars, going from solar system to solar system establishing smaller colonies even as we explored to the edges of the known cosmos.

[X] Plan Spacers

I was wondering about that surprise?

Amazing!

[X] Plan Save Everyone
-[X] barely holds together as the United Nations takes the lead to save as many people as possible to find a new home in space ( 4 actions, 2 resource points)
-[X] Warp Drive engines ( 1 turn until arrival, - 20 on your rolls during the journey)
-[X] Large vessels (+10 ships, + 3 resources points, - 15 on your rolls during the journey)
-[X] ship parts replacement
-[X] farming equipment
-[X] mining equipment

Warp drive and large vessels for a quick journey that probably won't go well. Need ship parts to repair the destruction of the single bad turn. Farming and mining so our population can survive when we get there and quickly build up. I assume our large population will make up for not having construction.

[X] Plan Hope for Humanity
-[X] barely holds together as the United Nations takes the lead to save as many people as possible to find a new home in space ( 4 actions, 2 resource points)
-[X] Nuclear Pulse engines ( 4 turns until arrival, - 5 on your rolls during the journey)
-[X] Medium vessels (+ 25 ships, + 2 resources points, - 10 on your rolls during the journey)
-[X] ship parts replacement
-[X] farming equipment
-[X] world heritage artifacts

4 Actions, 4 Resource points, 25 ships and -15 on journey rolls

Not sure this is the best plan but when I saw that world heritage artifacts option I felt in my heart I really wanted to take them even if it's obviously not optimal. I also like the pathos of the UN holding together to try and save as many people as possible.

I picked ship parts and farming equipment cause I feel the biggest problem we're going to face early game is finding a habitable planet and being able to grow food on it so having replacement parts should help us be able to roll the planet gatcha more often until we get an acceptable world.

Finally for ship size or engine I just kind of picked my first impulse since I don't really understand how much of a difference they make in playing the game. Could switch them if people have an argument of my options being obviously bad or another option is obviously better

[X] Plan: We're escaping to the one place that hasn't been corrupted by Capitalism. SPACE!
-[X] falls to chaos as one country decides to draft plans to send its citizens towards a new home in space ( 2 actions, 4 resource points)
-[X] Nuclear Pulse engines (4 turns until arrival, - 5 on your rolls during the journey)
-[X] Large vessels (+10 ships, + 3 resources points, - 15 on your rolls during the journey)
-[X] farming equipment
-[X] mining equipment
-[X] construction equipment

Nothing about the background says the Soviet Union collapsed! I choose to support a bold, proletarian future!

Good thing you are here magoose, cause next turn I'm gonna ask for the first dibs to roll the dice…something to do with the fate of the fleet
:3

First person to try to save as many people as possible, let's see if the dice gods roll to your favor.

Without saying too much when choosing what to bring, each offers special modifiers that would be revealed later on.

Mmmmmm technically that is true, however players will have the opportunity to set up a government when you arrive towards the next star system
What can I say…I'm a gambling man, not really but I feel lucky today :3

Okay.

But don't blame me if I kill everyone with a nat 1.
on a nat 1 won't necessarily mean the end of the quest but essentially it would be like playing halo for the first time and hack the game to unlock the max difficult level while also playing the game with one hand

In other words it's gonna be a really bad day for everyone lol

I remember the first time I played halo 2 LASO. Good times. Took ten hours to get it done.

Wait, wouldn't that mean we would basically be reenacting Homeworld? Only we are instead looking for a new home?

I just want my Tim Curry quote, dang it. xD
All I want is to just have a new civilization of explorers, boldly going out into the universe and trying to find a new home, all the while, they are entirely at odds with one another, but somehow pulling through in the end.

Shows that we are flawed but badass at the same time.
Gosh it's being a while since I played Homeworld, the inspiration is there for sure, but yeah finding a new home
Homeworld is the first thing that came to me with this. And frankly, I would not mind if the entire quest was just trying to survive getting to a new planet.

And saving humanity of course.

How is this incompatible with communism? :V

My personal preference is just not having politics at all, we are Humans, that should be enough to band together and be brothers and sisters in the Stars.

Though this quest will be focusing on the trials and adventures of humanity depending on the politics you guys choose, you would be presented with additional options that will bring both opportunities and consequences
