I say that we have our men help rebuild this and invest in the bar. Aina can pitch in too

Helps our reputation, that of Aina, and doesn't cost us as much. Also shows us helping to rebuild something, instead of just being mercenaries

We should have more than enough money for this, plus I'd rather not damage Aina's unsteady position.

I would have been more willing to go along with something like that if the dude hadn't gotten greedy. Fuck'em.

how would trying to negotiate the price down affect Aina's popularity?
because I would be willing to vote to pay up to 1500.

Propose a joint venture with zaia's wine while we are here. I am sure Antonio will make it work. Cheaper and produces income.
Why not? It's a solid idea, haggles the price down and leaves an opportunity open for when we pass by next.

So the man argues since it was Zaia's hand and no other that cast the fire onto his hall than it should be Zaia who pays the price and steep is the asking
Zaia's hand takeths, but Zaia's hand giveth also.

-[x] The meadhall owner may want to keep his business going while he is setting up the new building. Have Antonio try to haggle down the price by proposing a deal for Zaia's wine.

It is, however, a potential security hazard that may expose our scholar to assassination attempts.

Drow Razor?
Aw hell naw.
Also, I would be willing to pay a portion of that price and then some labour as well, but 2500 gp? No way! That is a serious chunk of change.

It is not a pleasant exit from this situation, but others seems even worse. At least Antonio has not sell trade goods which he bought in Orinilu.
P.S. Changed my vote to not haggle.

Between having money and having to deal with more Anwa nonsense guess what I'm picking :V

[x] Pay partial, plus labour.
If that's an option, of course.
Maybe 1000-1500 plus labour in rebuilding the tavernmeadhall?

What we got out of this is going to end up being worth far more than 2.5k. Eat the cost. It's worth doing.

The vote is actually pretty close and since that it quite a lot of money riding on too haggle or not to haggle I think it would be best to leave this up overnight even if I still feel guilty for not managing a second update today. The next update is going to be quite complex and I do not feel up to writing it so late.

    [X] Deny any wrongdoing.
-[X] Make the argument that this was no personal matter, but a concerted effort to finally bring a deadly enemy assassin to heel, one which continued to strike out against everyone involved in restoring Aina to the seat of Korman. Let none forget that the assassin had already claimed lives, including Aina's betrothed when we were fighting our way across Korman to reach the gates of Noromo, and was almost certainly involved in the recent assassination attempt made in Aina herself. If he had not been stopped, none who saw Unke removed from power would have been safe.
    [x] Pay partial, plus labour.

Honestly, I think haggling for a lower price isn't going to work out. This guy wants his shit repaired, he's not selling anything, so I doubt he'll accept a lower price.

Even if he is being greedy, I'd rather eat the cost just to avoid trouble we don't need to go through.

Honestly, I'm thinking any effort we make to solidify Aina's rule is kind of necessary. Beyond the Anwar being irritating, Aina is a good ally to keep, and the better her hold over her lands and status, the better the chance that this demon crap doesn't come back. Hell, at the very least leaving Aina properly established would let us set up a solid trade route rather than just back and forth with the north. Goodwill is often worth more than gold, and these people have lost enough. I'm surprised they aren't rioting in the streets (please don't take that idea OOC, GM)

In their defence, we literally stood by while his livelihood and several houses burnt to the ground.
Also, that drow razor looks interesting, though I've hardly a clue how to use it. I don't think the Otters could realistically use it as a sword- that's not how grips work, to start.

I'm also more than willing to pay the cost because we will keep the loot. We got the magical tablets, poisons (that can be sold if we don't use them), potions ,and a formula book that might belong to a Vivisectionist if I guessed correctly. It would be extremely likely that the formula book will have Invisibility and that's a damn good spell/formula for Esha/Zaia.
