I would like to grab Beowulf for a fast, silent, stealthy, durable mount, and a Diabillo for assistance and ingredient gathering.

I don't want to spend a boatload of gnosis for a mystery box that we'll have to be very, very careful about using because it's an illegal demon. I'm getting fairly concerned at the thread's tendency to always buy things when given the opportunity. Marshmellow test, guys.

[X] Plan Mount and Aide
-[X] Beowulf [3 Covenant Strength]
-[X] Diabillo, "the Devil Monkey" [2 Covenant Strength]

We will earn it back in short order. Why, in October we dropped down to 4 Gnosis by using Tris, and now we're up to 15 within a month, unless any one-time windfall of Gnosis happened that would imply a slower rate going forward. The biggest Gnosis purchase I've seen so far is Dark Stars, for 17. I expect we should be able to get back there by January at worst. Plus, since Ornias hails from the stars, this will likely translate into astrology that is otherwise difficult to access, and maybe insight into the nature of Hatching (and not dying at the end of the school year).

'Earning it back' isn't how Gnosis works. This buy won't produce more Gnosis for us, and spending 14 now only means that we'll have 14 less later. Saving now means we could buy a world-shaking 25 point power later.

Once Gnosis is spent, it is gone. We should spend it on powers that improve Harry personally in ways that aren't unknown, potentially dangerous, and certainly illegal as is the case with demon summoning.

By "Earn it back" I meant get up to the 15ish range of Gnosis again, though I expect your counter is that if we abstain from this purchase, we'd be up to 30 at that point. @Birdsie Is the reason why we haven't seen 20ish Gnosis options because we hadn't accumulated anywhere near that much, or because they simply did not exist?

There have been none made available to you, yet; however, certain items may cost less Gnosis should the requirement of talent, effort, or luck to achieve them be lesser. As such, Gnosis costs for what's currently a particularly powerful option may be discounted once you are relatively closer to it.

The way I see it, there's a few kinds of worthwhile benefit we can conceivably get out of Demon Summoning

1. Deniable Assets(The Nogtail is the only one, it's status as a household pest means we don't have to worry about giving somebody a nogtail infestation once. Any other, if seen in the wrong context, should presumably start a Dark Wizard hunt within the school)

2. Combatants in a kill or be killed no witnesses conflict. (Beowulf Et al.)

3. Infiltrators(Akh'tarmuh)

4. Advisors(Akh'tarmuh, Ornias?)

Unsure: Having a Rotmote on speeddial could be helpful if the filth it makes isn't so distinctive as to suggest it's a Rotmote(Read: Can be written off as somebody playing with Dungbombs)

The most compelling one I can see is:
[X] Akh'tarmuh

However I am willing to entertain a grab bag like Beowulf/Rotmote/Nogtail

Thus, it is possible that Ornias, being familiar with the stars, might save us Gnosis on Dark Stars when it next appears should we summon him.

[X] Plan Mount and Aide

Let's try and be sensible for jus a moment.
Failing that, I'd pick the star demon, because it sounds fucking metal.

[X] Plan Mount and Aide

I don't love this plan but it already has traction and I really don't wanna spend gnosis, I really want dark stars next chapter.

Here's a thought. Akh'tarmuh can be used to potentially establish Alibis for us. Ensure we are seen publically doing things somewhere while we sneak around to do something questionable.

Hmm... Birdsie, are there any potions or something that gets rid of potion effects? I'm thinking Harry could 'spam' potions past what would normally be healthy to get a big boost, then take an 'effect remover' potion so he could take more. Now, I'm pretty sure such a potion would have its own limit that passing would cause harm but at the very least it would mean we could take more potions for more gain than we otherwise could.

Under most circumstances, stacking potions onto more potions as a way to resolve negative effects from potions will only result in more negative effects from potions. Maybe if you'd taken Potions as one of your great domains under Thrice-Great, this would not be the case, but neither you nor Geist know of anything of the sort.
