Rex Raptor and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Island Tournament (A Yu-Gi-Oh! Quest)

We have four star chips, then? If so, two sounds like a fair enough bet. We either get to six, which is getting close, or get knocked down to 2... at which point we're start having to take risks.
You have 6 actually. That's why if you wanna take 4 of Cedar's chips he's playing for the absolute win, since whoever wins this will qualify for the finals. 2 chips will put you at 8 if you win.
Actually, unrelatedly.. a question: @Vagrant , we have a fusion monster that requires a Machine to make... but I don't think we have a Machine?
You don't, correct. Some of the other options to pick up two cards earlier would have included a machine monster, but since you can still technically use it if you Reborn an enemy Machine monster I decided to just leave the card in. Not hurting anybody there, at least.

[X][Deck] "Ah, nah, not really. Really, I'm into dinosaurs, I just didn't draw any of my best ones for that duel! Kinda sucks, but trust me, my dinosaurs rock!"

[X][Family] "Oh, it's okay I guess. Dad took off a long time ago so it's my mum, my older sister and myself. Sis mainly looks after mum, since she has trouble getting around, but she insists I enjoy my time at high school before I grow up. But don't get me wrong, we're not looking for sympathy or anything!"

[X][Ante] Accept the challenge as it stands.

[X][Duel] Plan: The Past makes the Present!
-[X] Bait Mill out with Upstart King Rex, set Fossil Dig and Reinforcements.
-[X] Next turn discard Sword Arm of Dragon for Fossil Dig, revive Upstart King Rex, Summon Two-Headed King Rex.
-[X] Wildcard fuse Two-Headed King Rex with Upstart King Rex

[X][Deck] "Yeah man, powerful creatures are the best! It's actually a dinosaur deck, but I splash in a couple of dragons and reptiles if I think they fit the aesthetic, nothing too outlandish, but they gotta be strong to hang out in my deck!"

[X][Family] "Eh, it's nothing special. Dad's a factory worker, so we don't have a ton of spare money. I use my tournament winnings to help him out. But don't get me wrong, we're not destitute or anything!"

2 star chips seem like a decent amount, not risk of getting kicked out of the tournament if we lose.

He said he studied us, so he might be aware of some of our most common used cards/strategies, we will need to be careful of what we do. A wild fusion might be our best bet to catch him off guard.

@Kingster I made an error with my plan initially. We need to have both fusion materials on the field in order to fuse them for DK rules.

Edit: Made one other change to the plan, basically to force a choice if he has any back-row removal or other ways to get rid of traps.

I'd rather we not do the Upstart-2Headed fusion; it seems likely to give us another Upstart themed boss monster, which doesn't fit with our more general Dinolizards theme

I don't follow. I was focusing mainly on the fact that they're both King Rexes.
The "Upset King Rex" has this card effect:
Yugipedia said:
Each player draws 1 card, then, if both players drew by this effect, you can Set 1 "Upstart Goblin" from your Graveyard to your Spell & Trap Zone.
It's linked to Upstart Goblin, which is a card we don't have in our deck, and seems(?) to be part of an Upstart card line or a potential Upstart card line. I don't know that we want to be committing resources to fleshing out this Upstart card-line further/tying our King Rex boss monsters closer to the Upstart line, vs. exploring other opportunities or working into other archetypes. It just doesn't seem like a high-value WCF to me.

I don't see a big upside to wildcard fusioning our 2Headed King Rex with an archetype that we're not going for vs. playing slow and pulling a later card to wildcard with

We do have it?

Upstart Goblin [Spell/Normal/Draw 1 card, then your opponent gains 1000 LP.]

I rather we fuse Two Headed with our Ace King Rex. I don't know why, but I just don't like Upstart.

Also is the Destiny Draw mechanic online now? How much does potential card draw cost?

Theoretically it is yeah. I was just talking in Discord about how I need to apply the DP costs for cards and go from there. I think given what has just occured in Nothing Is Sacred, I'm going to make DD a cost accumulation thing. It'll probably gather at a rate of 75 DP per turn, so theoretically you'll have 150 DP for your draw on the next turn, but I'm also likely to only offer Destiny Draw at later stages of the duel anyway. Ryuzaki isn't the most spiritually enlightened member of the cast, after all.

[X] Well now would be the time to experiment with wildcard fusions. Fuse upstart king Rex with two headed king. Maybe you'll get some kind of 3 headed dinosaur since they both share a name? Put the fusion onto a wasteland square and attack gate keeper if strong enough summon sword in face down defense. Set reinforcement and fossil dig.

I am a simple man and I spy a chance to bring in a big gun

Zacama the primal calamity would make sense for a three headed Dino fusion. besides we do need to use wild cards when we can so we can use them later

Yeah MtG had good art for many custom dino themed cards like...

I'd rather see a Deviljho be used as custom fusion.

Thanks for the potential art links everybody, will see what good can come of them.

However, please note that as I'm currently following manga gameplay rules, you can only Fuse materials that exist on the field. You'd need to somehow get both 2HKR and UKR on the field in order to attempt what you're voting for.

Hmm, that would make sense, in a way. The longer a duelist draws out the conflict, the more they get the flow and rhythm to almost... "know" what they're going to draw, if they know their deck well.

And then there's Yugi, who can just say, "I draw this" every turn if he wants. :V

Nah, that's Atem, and only once he's fully awakened his memories, really. Yugi just manages to overcome that ability through sheer skill alone.

So yeah, maybe something like... 50 DP cap+ per turn, and gain 25 duel-only DP a turn or something? Or something. Not sure, I do kinda like the idea that even down on their luck duelists (IE, DP poor) can get something going if they spend long enough in a game... which of course is easier said than done because this is Duel Monsters, and so stalemates like that are going to become less and less likely.
