Age of Ice and Blood: A Pathfinder System Heroic Fantasy Quest

I think leaving the Urdefhan to the gathered warriors would probably be all right, but morale is something we can't afford to squander and these things can cause lingering issues with excessive Strength damage. Also don't want to allow them to group up and suicide bomb too many people, if we can help it.

[X] Charge in with all those who are meant to fight face to face
-[X] Archers and net-wielders will follow closely, avoiding direct melee combat if at all possible, but using their skills and weapons from closer range, if positioning allows for it. Remind them to be wary of Invisible foes and other enemy tricks.

This might be a trap. They are forcing us to charge or to flee, and if we charge we are massed enough to eat a fuckton of negative energy damage by suicide bombing.

Yeah… That said, if they go off, we'd probably all eat a whole lot of Negative Energy damage anyway…
Hopefully not enough to instagib Roland, at least if he makes his save.

How many have we killed in the initial clash?

We really need to keep the weaker ones away, as they could we wiped out.

Either that or we murder them all too quickly for them to explode.

Oh, it's just 5 foot radius and 2d6? That's… Underwhelming.
Thought that it would be a lot closer to the kamikaze chariots in terms of effect…

They have negative energy affinity, that means they'll also heal all nearby allies.
True, but it's also not going to immediately take out large chunks of our army like, say, an effect with a 30' radius and maybe HDxd10 damage would.
That would be able to, rolling well, two-shot anyone on the field, including Roland.

There is some danger in that, but the radius of the effect is pretty small.

@DragonParadox, how closely are the Urdefhan positioned to one another?

They are close enough to one another to defend each other and prevent flanking which means that there is rarely more than five feet between them, that said they did just float down a cliff and not all of them are perfectly positioned since feather fall is not flight.

Hmmm

Could we attempt some maneuvers? We reposition them away frol each other and we murder them separately. How about that?

The problem is that Roland wouldn't have the slightest chance of identifying these things, so we need to avoid acting too overtly using metaknowledge.

Okay, I think the mental gymnastics works as a justification here.

[X] Charge in with all those who are meant to fight face to face, commanding all warriors who will listen to separate the creatures and attempt to subdue them, the better to capture one or more of them for interrogation.

For what it is worth I am not going to try to enforce a strict non-metagaming policy simply because that just is not tenable with most of the monsters being available on line. That way would lie some very unfun discussions about one can and cannot see and guess about a monster. As long as you are sticking to actions that make sense in character you are fine to use that tactics you feel would work.

Soo... I have a bit of an issue. I could try to speed write the next update late and since it is combat I might be able to pull up something that is at least readable, but at the same time I cannot promise more than that and I do not think that would do the story any favors. I hope you guys can forgive a bit of a break in the update schedule given... everything.

I will try for three updates tomorrow or at the very least solid and well presented updates.

I... find it to be too meta for my tastes. Even if we know what they are ooc

You sure? Just because Roland doesn't know they can turn themselves into suicide bombs, he would still have reason to be wary of them acting as a group just based on the crap we've already had to deal with. Between these things, the Undead Giant, and the flying monster Ziku took out, these things also present the best chance so far to speak with someone from the enemy side that isn't just a Human mook. It's not outside the bounds of reason that he could expect to get some sort of valuable information from them.
