I think you're misunderstanding things. 3 sentences is the minimum to generate anything at all; you don't get rewards for every 3 sentences.

That's not how it works dude. It's 3 plus sentences. Not a reroll or extra die for every three sentences.

My current understanding as one who was in the origional iteration of this quest as well;
Omake length is a minimum, but making it extra long doesn't necessarily give better rewards. You get the one bonus die or reroll, and that's it. Longer and more involved Omakes tend to get referenced more by the QM, however, which can occasionally have benefits.
If you are personally a Heroic Unit, extending your Omake to at least a full paragraph lets you get double the rewards. But you have to be Heroic.
There isn't yet any hard rules on major Omakes that describe things other than your zerg creature's personal actions, but there are hints that good ones may become canonized or be rewarded with Heroic Bonuses, which are much better than just a bonus die. But this is up to the QM.

It is fun to watch the hatchery get stuffed full of all those shiny minerals.
Well, not so much fun as it is something to do when going back and forth repeatedly all day.
I even try to peak inside at times when loading it up, as I get curious to just how much this big larvae machine can hold.
I mean, even if we are not stuffing it full of blue rocks, it is still making larvae and spreading creep, but still, we can make use of minerals and whatever else we throw into it.
Its not like there is much to wonder about at this point in time, and mining minerals all the time only goes so far in keeping whatever part of the hive mind I am in occupied.
Hopefully getting some npc-brains working these mineral patches will let me try something else sooner or latter. Until then, I hope to help gather more blue crystals to our cluster than any competition that might be out there be getting.

Okay, I need a little help with what I want to do, as I'm a little confused about how it would happen. I would like to turn into an Extractor, but can I turn into a heroic one as a normal drone or do you have to be a heroic drone to turn into a heroic extractor?

need Vespene Gas. must locate gas vine, for the swarm. Gas vine found. Must get to the center of the vine to maximize extraction. yes here is the spot beginning transformation... Transformation complete. (I believe that lets me roll an additional dice so two dice if I'm right?)
