Journeywoman's Journeys, A Fantasy Age of Exploration Worldbuilding Quest (Updated Daily)

[x] "…to Meria"

Nestled in forested hills, the shrine city of Meria is located due north of Khot-Sen-Launa. The settlement grew around the tomb of Irad the Thaumaturge, a Kal Ymi "saint", the famed progenitor of the mystical healing practice/martial art known as "Tsakstar". Nowadays, owing to its abundant natural hot springs, Meria has taken on a second life as a holiday and health resort as peoples from surrounding cities flock to the settlement for both pilgrimage and pleasure.

With the start of the summer season, Tarn hopes to stop off at Meria to make some money off the crowds before contiuning further north through the mountain passes.

"...to Gerra"

Anne's ears perk up and focus forwards on Tarn. She'd always wanted to visit Garra

Well, she'd always wanted to visit anywhere that wasn't Khot-Sen-Lanua.

"Hah!" Tarn chuckles, "Don't use up all that energy yet girl, we've still got a couple years yet of travelling." he casually thrusts his thumb over his shoulder to point towards one of the waggons, if you've got spare shit, throw it on there, we've got a box for crew gear.

Anne pats the saddlebags next to her legs proudly, "I already have my things together."

"This'll be your funeral when you tire your little riding bird gives out because you decided to break her back with extra horseshit."

Anne bristles, tail swish back and forth in annoyance, "Astride a Thousand Skies has the endurance of any ten of your animals."

The Centauroid man begins to frown, and so does her father, causing Anne to quickly reassess her bravado.

"But, I'll see what I can do."

"Attagirl!" says the caravan master after she's ridden past and hopped off of Astride.

As soon as Anne's pulled the saddlebags off of Astride, the bird looks her directly in the eyes and flops to the ground in the middle of the road. The blue and white riding bird having apparently decided that Anne was done with her for the day.

"Sky-sky noo," says Anne, kneeling down to coax the bird back up and move her out of the road, "Come on girl."

Suddenly, Anne's ears swivel back as a set of clopping hooves comes closer to her, and she looks up to see Jalynn looking down at her from the height of her own mount.

Jalynn, grins, the sun shining on the Glittering Spears Coronet's insignia that gleams from it's place on her recently issued leather armour "That's our Sky-sky." she says fondly.

Anne sees the quintet of men and women following her friend and stands up fast, slightly embarrassed.

"So they did give you a unit." she says taking in the small group of mercenaries outfitted similarly to Jalynn.

"Only a half troop from the Indigo Dragoons," Jalynn says humbly, but still smiling proudly.

"Well, th-" Anne begins, but Astride chooses that moment to pop back up and bob over to Jalynn, shoving her head towards the Harakai woman's right hand with a happy chirp.

"Well, that's convenient," Anne says with a sigh before taking a moment to look around at the people nearby, taking a quick mental count "Is that it? Is this the whole caravan together now?"

Jalynn shakes her head and turns to point at a lone figure making their way down the road, "Passed her on the way here, that's the last member of our little group. She's…"

[ ] "...Adayo, an Orisatl Channeler"

Adayo Adisclan is a young Orisatl channeler who has elected to join the caravan for ill defined reasons. Average by Orisatl standards, the raven haired and violet eyed woman's still one of the larger individuals in the caravan. Despite growing up in one of the region's outlying villages, she's not a naive person, but tends to be easily distractible and a bit spacy.

Her ability to tame the spirits of the land and treat the maladies of the mind is what led Tarn allowing Adayo to accompany the caravan on its way to far off lands.

[ ] "...Celai, that Silef Tattooist"

Celai of Clan Kitsune is a Silef Journeywoman Tattooist and sword-dancer who Anne has literally crossed swords with and is a former duelling field rival. Her night black hair is often dyed red to match the red colour of the fox familiar that accompanies her. Anne considers her a haughty braggart and a second rate swordswoman.

Hired by Tarn to tend to the cargo. Celai's talents with her magics are something he's counting on demonstrating to his clients to move his product with a large profit margin as well as helping the caravan on its travels.

[ ] "…Sara, a Harakai Divine Sister

A silver haired Harakai with skin as ivory white as Anne's own, Sara is a recently robed Divine Sister who has signed up with the Caravan to sate her own curiosity about the outside world and peoples. Though Sara's had a closeted upbringing as a ward of the Temple, her faith is matched only by how stubborn she is.

Tarn's hired Sara for her medical knowledge and magics that will help speed the caravan safely on their travels as the holy blood magic that she's been instructed in can hurt as easily as it heals.

[ ] "…Bryn, a Aramvolk Bonebinder."

Despite the dire reputation of Aramvolk Osteomancers, Bryn is a relentlessly cheerful young woman who is determined to make her fortune on this trip and to blaze new trade routes for her clan. Short for her people (and average sized for most others) the bronze skinned woman has recently become a journeywoman of her own right in the Bonebinder's guild and is accompanied everywhere with a pair of Boundling "assistants".

Tarn has hired her on to serve as both the caravan's medic and to supplement the caravan's labourforce with her tireless, thirstless, and hungerless Bonebound servants.

For this vote I'm going to instruct that all write-in options (100 words today) are also either a cleric or a mage of some sort because I want to have proper party composition be able to continue expanding on magical or religious traditions as we travel. Please include a brief description of the character, their profession and why they'd be hired by Tarn. (yes, this NPC will also be a LI for Anne >: P)

A/N Sorry for the lateness of this, had a bit of a bad day, oh well. Tomorrow we leave Khot-Sen-Lanua behind! Say goodbye, we won't be back for a while.

[X] "…Bryn, a Aramvolk Bonebinder."

you know I have too

BONE GANG FOREVER

PS
As soon as Anne's pulled the saddlebags off of Astride, the bird looks her directly in the eyes and flops to the ground in the middle of the road. The blue and white riding bird having apparently decided that Anne was done with her for the day.
This is our wonderful child, and I love her so much

[X] "…Sara, a Harakai Divine Sister
I shall be the dissenting voice, I suppose. I want more on the blood magic religion (feels kinda Bloodborn), and this seems the best way to get it.

[X] "...Celai, that Silef Tattooist"

Dueling other catgirls with swords is very important to our health and well being, you know.

Well, if the aim is to expand on magic traditions...

Why not do all of them?

[X] "…a mysterious hooded ...man? ...Jack of all magics, master of none."

A seemingly wealthy patron, that bought their way onto the caravan.

Their purpose is shrouded in mystery, as is their face and race, hidden behind a literal Shadow hooded cloak.
While they outwardly appear to be male, that may simply be the result of an illusion or enchantment, or perhaps shapeshifting magic.

Very little is known about them, except for their rather extreme passion for all magics.
They are happy to extensively debate and discuss magic, or anything even tangentially related to magic... at length... for hours.

In short, Mad-Scientist Wizard, wants to learn everything about magic, knows a lot already, very wealthy.
