There Was A Different Idea: An MCU Producer Quest

Hm... I haven't thought about the Fantastic Four. We should get that before Fox does the infamous Fant4stic. After that movie nobody would want to touch Marvel's first family with a 10 feet pole.

Tom Holland does a good job as Spider-Man, but imo he's far from a One True Spider-Man. If we have the opportunity to get Spider-Man, he's worth getting ASAP.

Hell, I'd be good cutting a deal with Sony to use Miles Morales in our films instead of Peter Parker.

Interlude - High Hopes (May 2011)
The Winning Vote said:
[X] Network with Ike Perlmutter (Roll)
[X] Network with Marvel Executives (Roll)
[X] Convince Marvel to negotiate with the studios (Sony, Fox, Lionsgate, New Line Cinema) for the rights of a character (Roll)
-[X] Which one: Deadpool
Filming for War machine started some months ago and according to the reports there does not seem to be that much of an issue with it. J. Michael Strazcynski still makes sure that the show flows as smoothly as possible, and Omar is ecstatic at being the lead in a TV show. Who knows, this might make his career in the future.

But you know that for all that you've done for the beginning of Marvel TV you had to step on some toes in order to do so. It might be for the best to at least try and build some bridges with the ones you offended.

This means it's time to have a talk with Ike Perlmutter

Ike Network Roll: 83

You expected a conversation that would be a drag, an offense against all that you hold dear in Marvel, as well as a diatribe about how you were running the Film division, and now the TV division of Marvel and the direction of the MCU.

And you certainly got it, no mistake about that.

However you did not get only that. Suggestions for cost cutting measures, recommendations for actors who might work cheaper, heck at some point there was an actual discussion about the best use of Marvel characters that went above profitability.

What the fuck?! Ike knows Marvel?!

You left the office in a daze, confused about what just happened; only that somehow you and Ike seemed to have found some middle ground.

…You don't know how to feel.

Marvel Network Roll: 57

That feeling might be why you did no advance your relationship with most of Marvel's creatives. You managed to talk around and discuss some changes that could serve for future issues and movies, but nothing groundbreaking. No news either as Marvel is preparing for the launching of the newest storyline and they need to focus there for the moment.

You still managed to keep your relationships with them, so that's a victory.

Convincing Marvel Roll: 103

You would need all of them for the confrontation ahead as you prepared to present your case to the Creative Committee for buying back the rights to Deadpool. You've had the character in your mind ever since you saw the travesty that Fox did to him. You know very well that Marvel is trying to get their properties back, and they would rather begin with more profitable ones like Ghost Rider, Luke Cage, or even The Punisher.

But you have a plan, a plan which involves the Merc with a Mouth (an actual mouth this time!) and you will not be deterred!

Turns out you weren't, it was ridiculously easy to do so.

And you have Avi and Ike to thank for it.

Avi you can understand, he likes your initiative and plans for the MCU, but Ike? Did your talk with him actually do something?

There are caveats and threats of course, mainly that you will not shelve another popular character just because you felt like it. Apparently they are still sore over the fact that they paid to have Hulk back and didn't even use him to make up for the investment.

Yeah, you might want to throw them a bone or something at some point…eventually…perhaps…

Heh, you'll think about it.

Fox Negotiation Roll: 92

You've never once thought that you'd meet someone that you could hold someone in as much contempt as you once did Ike Perlmutter.

Then you met Tom Rothman and Ike seemed like a ray of sunshine.

It's not the temperament or behavior, God knows that no one could get as close to Ike in that matter. But Rothman's sheer lack of respect or even appreciation for the properties that he has been handling has managed to irk you in a way not seen since you first saw the Howard the Duck movie.

Then again, it might also have been that you found out he was the one that had Deadpool unable to speak in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

He agreed with hardly a fight, almost grateful for the opportunity to get rid of the character (it also included a script that they'd made) and even made another offer.

Right now they want to focus more on the X-Men and the other properties they have with them (It galls that he can speak about Marvel properties as if they are their own) but some of them he feels are either problematic or just not profitable enough.

As such, he's willing to offer you not only Deadpool, but additional character for the lump sum of a Quarter of a Billion dollars.

What do you do?

[] [Buy] Deadpool+Fantastic Four.
[] [Buy] Deadpool+Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver (Can't call them Mutants), Skrulls, The Watcher.
[] [Buy] Deadpool+(Write In: 2 more characters, can't be X-Men or the above)

Oof I don't think we could afford another character without sending marvel into the red again let's just get wade and go.

[X] write in: Just take Deadpool and politely decline the other offer.

@overmind this write in acceptable?

*Slaps table so hard* YES! YES! Here we go, boys!

Now, since we're going for the inclusion of the Skrulls in the MCU earlier than usual, I say we get them as well as the Watcher and the Maximoff Twins. Also, the Watcher will probably help with the whole multidimensional thing.

[X] [Buy] Deadpool+Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver (Can't call them Mutants), Skrulls, The Watcher.

We made out like bandits, fuck.

Anyways:

[X] [Buy] Deadpool, Taskmaster, Daredevil

I want to get material I believe we could integrate soon and thus justify the cost of. Tbh with the other options, I feel like it'd be a tougher sell because they're down the line (Watcher being way down the line)

[X] [Buy] Deadpool+Fantastic Four.

Edited.

Well if we can use Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver anyway editing my vote.

Oh man this is a fantastic outcome, we could realllly use this opportunity. Would the Silver Surfer be an option or is he part of the lump sum of one of the options already (because he's showed up in fantastic four at some point)?

For now I think this is going to hold my vote while discussion is going on.

[X] [Buy] Deadpool+Fantastic Four

Time to make sure Quicksilver doesn't fucking die in Avengers or any of our other movies.

Or at least, not in the way he died in the OTL.

Guys I really think we should just take wade and go. Spending a billion dollars is going to piss off the execs.
We made nearly a billion with ironman 2, and avengers is coming up in the next two films we are making, the hype should be real for it amongs fans and regular movie goers alike. We can recoup the loss.

Fantastic Four is honestly more tempting for the villains than for the heroes. Doom, Galactus, Super-Skrull, and Kang too of course.

Ultimately I feel like the Four themselves would be a nuisance in terms of plot and pacing for the rest of the MCU - make the cast too big too fast.

Currently going for:
[X] [Buy] Deadpool+Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver (Can't call them Mutants), Skrulls, The Watcher.

@overmind If we got Daredevil would Kingpin and Bullseye come with him?

I don't think that's one of the options available - we can get Deadpool thrown in "for free" if we buy something else, but they're not going to actually give us him for free - no-one on their end would sign off on that - so we're picking what it is we're actually paying for.

I'm pretty sure you're overthinking this, I think the price wouldn't be much better even if we only took Deadpool. It seems like he's trying to squeeze us regardless, this is supposed to be a discounted rate for buying bulk right?

And yeah, we made a billion dollars with one movie... this is half a dozen properties that we could turn into half as many franchises.
