Age of Legends (Warhammer Fantasy/Scion)

[X] Absence. She called you beloved, and you can hear the affection in her voice when she speaks of your father. Why, then, did your mother disappear after you were born? Why did she leave you alone?
[X] Romance. How did your parents meet? What was it about your father that drew even the eye of the Goddess Myrmidia? You would never have thought of the divine in terms of love and affection - is it a legacy of her time spent as a mortal?

[X] Artistry. Your artistic performances or creations really speak to people, conveying your meaning with impossible breadth and depth; a painting might convey a speech, or a statue a heartfelt appeal. Such works are always masterpieces, equal to those of the finest artisans or performers in the realm.

[X] Order. You have an intuitive and encyclopedic knowledge of the laws governing any jurisdiction you happen to be standing within. Mortal law enforcement cannot obstruct or punish you for lawful acts, nor may they overreach their authority or abuse their power when you are involved; their bodies betray them in the face of true justice

The point is that Sun is useless in comparison and we're more likely to get lasers by crafting it than having fantasies of using Sun to make them.

Who cares? It is stylish and godlike.
Seriously, there is way too much talking about "effectiveness" and synergies. It is a narrative quest, not a number crunching one, minmaxing is pointless and out of place.

[X] Enemy. The Purple Hand seemed to know of your existence, or had some reason to target you. Can you expect other foes to know of you as well? Will you spend your life looking over your shoulder in fear?

[X] Sun. You can choose to radiate sunlight in an aura around you. The intensity of the light, and thus effective range, can be anything between a soft glow to a near-blinding radiance. This is natural sunlight, and has all associated effects on relevant creatures or magic.

Epic Dexterity is way more stylish. We become wuxia dancer chase master. Combine it with Beauty and our very movements probably become worthy of song.

I am servant of the secret fire, wielder of the flame of Anor! Dark fire will not avail you, flame of Udun!
Man, i sure think sun is useless and not efficient and all around uncool :V

I mean he was saved by a literal plot shield, in the form of resurrection by Eru/the Valar. Gandalf was not a very good quest PC is what I'm saying.

I mean think about it, he got into a party with a bunch of schmucks too low powered to help at all in the battle that got him killed. :V

I am not, I'm arguing against the idea that dexterity or art can help with being an engineer.
My post that you initially replied to asserted that they were better for it than Sun. Your arguing against that post implicitly argued in favor of Sun, even if that wasn't your intention.

That said, Artistry helps with the design portion of an engineering project, making clearly understood blueprints for engineering teams across the Empire to work with, and making machines that look badass. Epic Dexterity helps with precision engineering, working within the interior of a device, and using ranged weapon devices to best effect.

Every purview comes with a bunch of different potential boons and other effects, as well as thematic space for miracles, I just stuck with the purely passive benefit for now to avoid over-complicating the matter. Sun specifically has associations with hope, glory and rebirth, while Order has authority, integrity and preservation etc etc. The second update breaks down Myrmidia's purviews in more detail.

Please remember that you only get one, I just opened the vote for two options to give people a little bit of flexibility etc. Your second purview is the "Pantheon" purview, something that speaks to the nature of Myrmidia's extended family and how they relate to the mortals that fall within their domain.

I can guess at the reasons for absence but if asking of the enemy is not a choice you guys want to take then I will go with these.

[X] Regret. In that cellar, when you were lost in darkness, Myrmidia said she had hoped to spare you from this. Why? Is there some secret to your power, some drawback to your inheritance, that she would rather you not have?

While all of the previews are great, the Artistry fits with how we have gone with our crafting skills best and I can think of a lot of ways to use the Sun one. We could be our one flash-bang when we are in place with little light and being able to see is important when you want to shoot something and we could light the way for allies as well.

[X] Divinity. What is it like, being a god? Are there rules which must be obeyed, which prevent Myrmidia from resolving the rift in her cult, or limitations on divine strength which mortals cannot perceive?
[X] Enemy. The Purple Hand seemed to know of your existence, or had some reason to target you. Can you expect other foes to know of you as well? Will you spend your life looking over your shoulder in fear?
[X] Epic Dexterity. Your movements are impossibly fluid and effortless. You may stand on any surface capable of bearing a feather with perfect balance, scale and descend vertical surfaces without a handhold, and perform other feats of grace and dexterity without difficulty.

Sun has little use and no synergy. It doesn't help with crafting at all. It's barely useful in combat. Vampires aren't everywhere.

Yeah, this is Warhammer. There are already magical lasers based partially on using lens, I wouldn't be surprised if we could figure it out without Magic.

We do live in Nuln so the idea that there aren't any vampires that could be a threat when Blood Keep is in Wissenland and they could have agents in the city is a little to much confidence in my eyes. Plus think about it, The Skaven live mostly if not completely underground and in the sewers and we could be as bright as the Sun when we want we could literally blind them and then shoot them apart with our allies assistance. Then there are things like Night Goblins who hate the sun in lore and have adapted to the tunnels and caves they live in such that they are blinded by light a lot easier then humans. Just being able to light our own way and the way of others at night could also be useful both inside and outside the city.

[x] War. People who fight at your side, or at your command, are divinely bolstered and empowered. Their strength, speed, resilience and skill are all augmented to the pinnacle of human capability, and they may serve as the vector or target for further miracles without cost.
