@Dr Heaven M.D. Earth Runes can play with the concept of weight right? Would it be realistic to engrave some or all the nails with runes that make the target (or just the nail I suppose) considerably slower or heavier?
Yes, that could work.
2nd question, are our folks Paper Men a consumable resource? Or should we reasonably expect to be able to return them if we don't let them get too beaten up. The Bestiary makes them sound like they have a distinct shelf life.
They do, but they'll survive the fight unless a MAJOR fuck-up happens.
Also, this might be a vote later, but I wanted to bring it up, I'm wondering if our MC has given a thought to his rules of engagement here. Are we planning on out and out murdering these Others? Just chasing them out of the populated area's of town? Somewhere in between.

Ideally, I would like to pin some or all of them down and extract promises of good behaviour (and gifts? goblin weapons are useful) in return for letting them go. Hence the Nailgun of Holding.
Goblins don't do good behavior--it's generally better to ask for bad behavior over there--but it's good that you're planning on binding.

Walmart. Can't be more than a 3-hour drive from one, and it's got literally anything if you're willing to accept subpar!
The more you tell me about that goddamn chain store the more I think of it as some sort of eldritch marketplace like South Park said.

Guns were one thing, you're gringos, it was kinda expected. But what kinda supermarket just sells PITCHING MACHINES?!

Whatever, you don't have a car so its a moot point. There's not one in town and you can't walk to one in time.

Question: can we suggest different ammunition types for the slingshot? It's a versatile tool, but rocks, even handpicked river rocks, are just about the worst option available for my new plan idea. Maybe marbles and/or ball bearings?

Oh I get that, I'm just thinking it would be nice if they stuck to modest vandalism, less than lethal pranks and devouring the occasional stray pet. Unless we call in a favour of course.

Okay here we go.

[X] Nail it in!
-[X] Unearthly Howl: Good for intimidation and making Innocents fuck off so you can fight without worrying about making them Aware and getting your karma fucked up.
-[X] Nail Gun: Not really a weapon, but I wouldn't wanna get hit by it. It holds 50 nails at a time, and you won't have time to reload in a fight.
-[X] Enchanted Ammo: Spend a *long* evening scratching Earth Runes of Weight, Slow, and Binding into the nails as you load them into the nailgun.
-[x] Oni: What the fuck is an Oni and why is everyone scared of them?
-[x] Turdblood's Gang: With that name, it has to be a group of Goblins, but you could be better informed.
-[x] "Ava-Raum's Cult": Just how many cults are there in this stupid town anyway?

I would have really liked to fit Hired Help into this plan, as a couple of Paper Men would have drastically reduced our chances of getting ambushed or mobbed, and would have helped round the buggers up if they just scattered and refused to engage.

On the other hand Unearthly Howl is absolutely essential. The Cinema is a very public place, and neither our Harbinger Powers or Goblins are particularly quiet or subtle. Putting the frighteners on the Goblins at the start is a good idea anyway if we are aiming to beat them into submission. It should make it harder for them to co-ordinate and use their numbers.

As for the questions I'm content that we can get more details on the Big Three later, we already know some. The minor groups are pretty mysterious though, and I have basically chosen the three that look like something we could randomly walk into and sound especially concerning.

Its a tad meta, but Oni are weird (by practicioner standards of weird) and I don't want Jack blindsided by them. And that off hand reference to the Cult in the update makes it sound like they just wiped out a whole bunch of minor practitioners. Speaking as a minor practitioner, thats worrisome. Finally, asking about the local Goblin Warlord before we bust in on some of his relatives seems like common sense.

Super glad this updated! Super annoyed it happened wille i was asleep and i misse part of the conversation!
I'm going to try for a plan in a bit, but i wanted to ask something @Dr Heaven M.D. , how does our Harbinger Chainsaw fit in the Others's advantage- disavantage game? What is it good againts?

@Dr Heaven M.D. great update. The Jab from the new family with a chip on it's shoulder was a nice touch. Would water balloons with a mix of Cold and Purification runes written with a marker be a feasible Homebrew? Is there a rune I could use on tennis balls to give them greater impact for shattering the goblins once there frozen?

Everything with a body and a few things without them.

Ok, this has been established, you can't get water balloons in time. Also, putting a cold rune on one would just be a power-expensive way to make a ball of ice.

And yes, an Air or Earth rune as explained.

[X] Plan: I Wanna Be A Menace
Description:
We didn't give ourselves long to prepare. We'll rig up something for now, but take along some backup if things get hairy.
[X] Preparations: How are you planning to prepare? (Pick up to three)
-[X] Weapons at Dawn
--[X] Ranged Weapon: Uses Sharp stat to hit.
---[X] Slingshot: A crappy plastic one.
----[X] Ammo: Splurge for a bag of marbles and a container of 1cm ball bearings, because what good is a life savings if you're unalive? Maybe buy some laundry detergent pods while you're at it, give 'em the old tide pod challenge!
-[X] 'Hired' Help: Mom and Dad have some bound Paper Men. They can only lend you two, but if used right they'll be all you need.
-[X] Practice Makes Victory: Well, maybe you can make something to help the situation? You don't have a lotta practice with this Practice, tho...
--[X] Special Ammo: Prepare your ammunition with certain elemental runes. Think carefully about element/weapon synergy.
---[X] Runes: Marbles get runes of Light and Wind, and are empowered with the Harbinger Fulmination practice, with the intent of being crude flashbangs that stun and debilitate in an area. The bearings are laden with Earth and Cold, for heavy hits and slowdown. Mix 50 up in the marble bag, and distinguish the two types by touch.

[X] Questions: I set up a lot of Checkov's Guns. Might as well look down the barrel of some of them. (Pick up to three)
-[X] Other Groups: Lots of beings were mentioned at the meeting, but the only ones you really know are Goblins and Paper Men. (Can be picked for all three)
--[X] Oni: What the fuck is an Oni and why is everyone scared of them?
--[X] Turdblood's Gang: With that name, it has to be a group of Goblins, but you could be better informed.
--[X] "Ava-Raum's Cult": Just how many cults are there in this stupid town anyway?

I'm glad everyone seems so curious about Ava-Raum, I'm excited for whenever I'll use them.

Does anyone have suggestions for background music for when Jack works or am I free to choose?

A'ight, I guess it's dice time:

1- Leave it to Beaver - Cousin Joe Twoshacks
2- Wires and Flashing Lights - Professor Kliq
3- Money - Mystery Skulls
4- Pinkie's Brew
5- I choose from @gale 's suggestions
Dr Heaven M.D. threw 1 5-faced dice. Total: 4
4 4

That's why I put them as one option, since it was gonna be hard to add them to the list in a hurry.
Fair. Just wanted to be clear on it. I might spend some time looking for some more music. mmm Question if you don't mind. But what music does the MC usually use? Like the spirits have to be use to a large mix from the MC by now right?

I'm gonna say that in the making of the Whistle While You Work trait Jack experimented with a lot of genres and now his taste is less a selection and more a Frankensteinian monster of likes and dislikes. Slight preference towards techno and electro music, for obvious reasons.

We need to rig a DJ setup and alter it so vox can possess it and inspire us with her mad skills.

Wait a minute. Pinkies brew won! Yes! The dice have chosen me. And I'm voting for a plan that uses earth element runes while listening to a song about earth pony gypsy. Thats a lot of accidental synergy.

Alright, doesn't look like more votes are coming in so I'll just close the tally.

[X] Plan: Cleaning up the Goblins
-[X] Homebrew: Maybe you can mix up something in the lab (your bedroom) that they won't see coming?
--[X] Get some lysol wipes put separate them into three groups. One will be Lysol wipes with a rune of fire on it witting to be lit. Second would be water rune. The third group have a rune of Iron. Made in groups of three. Frist three fire, then three water, then three Iron. Repeat till out of wipes. All are covered in Salt.
--[X] Cleaning Bucket of Slat water.
--[X] A metal bat with three runes of Iron and Fire.
-[X] Questions: I set up a lot of Checkov's Guns. Might as well look down the barrel of some of them. (Pick up to three)
--[X] Old Families: All three big groups were present at the meeting, you might as well get better informed. (Can be picked for all three)
---[X] Calloway: Good at making friends, from a certain point of view.
--[X] Other Groups: Lots of beings were mentioned at the meeting, but the only ones you really know are Goblins and Paper Men. (Can be picked for all three)
---[X] Turdblood's Gang: With that name, it has to be a group of Goblins, but you could be better informed.
---[X] The House on Foxglove Hill: You know the broad strokes, but you're really not too up to date on what Bogeymen are.

Victory for the Ramjam Fanclub! (Please ignore the fact I forgot to vote, that's definitely the one I'd have voted for)

An interesting aspect of the nail gun I hadn't considered is that an argument could probably be made that nails are a great anti-goblin weapon. Modern nails tend to be fairly finely crafted without the imperfections of historical nails and I think it could be argued that that sort of uniformity and fine working is opposed to a Goblin's nature of being crude and natural (in particular I'm also thinking of how a hunk of rusty pipe is a good weapon against a Fae and sort of reversing that). Also, nails are usually used for constructing things and holding them together and while Goblins can construct things I'd argue they tend to destroy/inflict damage a lot more often than build long lasting structures or try to hold things together. Now that element may well be counteracted by the fact that we'll be using the nails for destruction/damage instead of their intended purpose but maybe if we're "constructing" a binding ...

Anyway, as Ramjam proves nails aren't necessarily anathema to Goblins the way say, a water pipe is but if you can make a convincing argument to the spirits they might do more harm than you'd expect from a little piece of metal (even one we've made improvements to) so the question becomes how good at bullshitting is Jack ...

Well, for one thing, if you use the Fulmination practice then you will deal damage. The elemental runes you've chosen to add will be salt on the wound, except in a way Goblins don't like.

And it should be noted that Ramjam, as far as I recall, never used nails the way you're "supposed" to. He uses them for healing, decoration and weaponry, and then uses spit as an adhesive. Proper nail usage, hammer included, might be anathema to them or at least a bother.

As for how good Jack is at bullshitting, he has +2 to Charm, and I don't know if anyone checked their MotW playbooks after I explained I was using that for the stats, but you need 7-9 for a success and 10+ for a critical success. The only way for Jack to fail a Charm roll is to roll two twos or lower.
