You woke up on a random beach with a shipgirl. You are her Admiral and nothing makes sense anymore.

the details
"Teitoku! Teitoku!"

A very loud and energetic voice roused you from your slumber. As your eyes open and sleep slowly gives way to alertness you notice a young girl of about thirteen - give or take - fussing over you.

You slowly sit up.

You aren't where you last remembered. In fact you are somewhere completely unrecognizeable.

You are near the shore of a large body of water. The local flora looks nothing like what you're used to. Off in the distance thick smoke rising from several large fires can be seen.

You think it's all just a dream and pinch yourself.

It is not a dream.

The girl is still calling out "Teitoku!" and shaking you.

You take stock of what you're wearing: jeans, a t-shirt, socks, shoes, and a wrist watch. It's exactly what you last remember wearing.

Your memories of what you were last doing, on the other hand, are quite clouded. All you remember is that something suddenly happened to you just before everything went dark.

The girl's voice is irritatingly high-pitched and starting to give you a headache. You ask her to "please quiet down and stop shaking me" in your native tongue. A little gruffer than was necessary, but it got the point across.

She does and meekly replies with a quiet apology in the same language you used and an embarrassed downcast look.

After a few moments of gathering your thoughts you ask her "Where are we?"

"I don't know. My cronometer isn't set properly and I don't know the date."

That was an odd response, you think to yourself, as you notice she isn't wearing a watch. You then start noticing more things. Her outfit is very Japanese and very dry. Your clothes, on the other hand, are completely soaked.

"Teitoku, I saw you floating in the water and just had to save you. I hope that was ok." She is also staring at you with a confused expression. You correctly guess that she just realized, appearance aside, that you aren't from Japan and don't speak Japanese.

There's also that "Teitoku" again. You have no idea what it means but think it must be some form of Japanese honoriffic. At least she can speak your language.

You are going to get to the bottom of this, eventually.

Voting options

You are (pick one):
[] Male
[] Female

Which one you choose doesn't matter. Either way, you are married, have at least one child, and there will be no lewding.

Your name is?
[] write-in

You are ethnically Japanese but you are not from Japan.

You are (pick one):
[] 18-24 years old
[] 25-34 years old
[] 35-44 years old
[] 45-55 years old
[] 55+ years old

Your age bracket will provide minor bonuses and penalties along lines of "age and experience" vs. "youth and vigor".

You were born and raised in (pick one):
[] Argentina
[] Australia
[] Austria (same ships as Hungary)
[] Brazil
[] Canada
[] Chile
[] France
[] Germany
[] Hungary (same ships as Austria)
[] Italy
[] Russia
[] Spain
[] Turkey
[] United Kingdom
[] United States

This expands the list of shipgirls you can summon. Your ethnicity gives you access to the IJN. Your nationality grants access to a second set of ships and influences where you are when you wake up. See the Author's Notes for more.

The shipgirl is:
[] a Kamikaze-class destroyer (1922-24)
[] a Mutsuki-class destroyer (1925-27)
[] write-in: from a Japanese destroyer class that's older than the Kamikaze-class (name the class)

Your first shipgirl will have two very useful unique traits. The older the ship, the better the traits.

The intro is very brief because the MC is a blank slate at the moment.

This won't be a grand tour of shipgirls curbstomping everything because that gets very boring fast. Your first shipgirl will have a slight advantage over an I-class, but it's not a sure thing. If she gets caught by surprise she's in for a world of hurt.

Other Notes:
- I do not fudge die rolls.
- The dice do not take sides.
- Expect casualties.

Summoning: on a successful summoning the type is rolled first, then the class, and finally the ship within that class. Any ship in service between 1900 and 1945 can be summoned. The battleship table includes pre-dreadnoughts. The carrier table lumps fleet, light, and escort carriers together. All the countries listed have at least one dreadnought battleship, battlecruiser, or aircraft carrier.

The Admiral
Name: Leontina Mikhailovna Mancini
Age: 30
Nationality: Russian
Languages: Russian, Italian, English

A married woman of Japanese ancestry from Russia with an Italian husband.

She was suddenly thrust into the role of Shipgirl Admiral after waking up on a beach. She is sceptical of the supernatural in general and the existence of shipgirls in particular despite the evidence right in front of her.

The Mechanics
More will be added as needed.

Base Die Mechanic
The base die mechanic is either (d100 v. TN) or (d100 v. d100) with modifiers added as appropriate. The higher number indicates success or failure with ties on opposed rolls favoring the players. Results of 1 or 100 before modifiers represent a spectacular success or failure and something special will happen.

Variable Die Mechanic
Rolls which require a number within a specific range of (1 ... N) are rolled as "1dN = result". These never result in a critical success or failure.

(These are the default rolls if none is specified below.)

Shipgirl Stats and Miscellaneous
These are taken from a shipgirl's base stats on a Kancolle wiki page or estimated if there isn't one, with two exceptions: speed and range.

These are the ship's historical flank and cruise values in knots and nautical miles. Range at speeds above cruise falls by the ratio of (cruise/speed)^2. Range at speeds below cruise are constant to 1/4 cruise speed then fall linearly to 0nmi at 0kts.

Torpedoes: Most ships do not have reloads and may only fire them once per sortie. Ships with reloads may fire them once per engagement and and automatically reload for the next engagement if they have any reloads left.

Non-Combat Die Rolls

Summoning: 1d100 v. TN. Upon success a three more rolls are made. The first determines what type of ship is summoned, the second determines the ship's class, and the third determines the ship within that class.

Drop rolls: 1d100 v. TN. The TN starts at 100 and falls by 5 for every failed drop before resetting to 100 after a successful drop. Ship types are limited to the Abyssal types sunk in the encounter. Ship class and specific ship are determined as with summoning.

(The ship class and specific ship rolls are 1dN, N = the number of classes and the number of ships within the rolled class respectively.)

Detection Rolls: 1d100 + modifiers vs. 20 + weather penalties. 20 represents a clear sunny day with a calm sea state. 100+ represents represents a moonless night during a hurricane or typhoon.

Luck Re-Rolls: Upon a nat1 a re-roll is attempt is made. If d100 vs. (100 - luck) succeeds the critical failure is re-rolled.

Combat Die Rolls

Surface Combat:
To Hit: d100 + modifiers vs. Evasion
Critical: d100 + modifiers vs. 100
Damage: d(firepower or torpedo) * (100 - d(armour))/100, minimum 1

Air-to-Air Combat:
Resolved using Lanchester's Square Law. The strength of both sides is added up and converted to a ratio. This ratio is then squared to determine a casualty multiplier (always <= 1.00) applied to the stronger side's losses. The die rolls determine what percentage of each side's forces are lost.

Area Anti-Air:
The AA values of all the ships in the defending fleet is added together and multiplied by (d100/100) to come up with an area-AA result. This result is compared to a table determine how many attacking planes are shot down.

Close Anti-Air:
The AA value of the targeted ship in the defending fleet is multiplied by (d100/100) to come up with a close-AA result. This result is compared to a table determine how many attacking planes on final approach are shot down.

Air-to-Surface Attacks:
To Hit: d100 + modifiers vs. Evasion
Critical: d100 + modifiers vs. 100
Damage: d(bomb or torpedo) * (100 - d(armour))/100, minimum 1

Russian naming convention imply mandatory patronymic. Please, note: patronimics have male and female forms. Anya is a dimunitive form of Anna, so it is unlikely to see Anya in official papers.
Unlikely, but not unheard of. As for the Patronym? I'll ask y'all for a Russian or Japanese boys name to construct one from.

FYI: If you were to give me, say, "John Smith" and "Russian woman" for the MC I'd convert that to "Yana (patronym) Smit" and ask you to tell me her father's name.

More like "theoretically possible, but I'm unaware of an example"
As for the Patronym? I'll ask y'all for a Russian or Japanese boys name to construct one from.
ATM the most common names for newborn boys are Alexandr (fem. patronymic Alexandrovna), Mihail (Mihaylovna), Maxim (Maximovna), Artyom (Artemievna), Mark (Markovna) and Ivan (Ivanovna).
So, I'd say "Sokolova Anna Alexandrovna" (surname - first name - patronimic is the usual order for Russian paperwork). Pronunciation can be checked here (press the green button)

Tvtropes have a fairly good page on Russian naming conventions if it becomes relevant.

Anyway

[X] Russia

I do not care much about the details, honestly.

This morning I did die rolls to determine how far away from home you'll be and what the conditions are like there. The results were mixed ...

Good news: There aren't many Abyssals nearby and you know the local language.
Bad news: You're at the ass-end of nowhere and it's the middle of winter.

I'll leave the voting open until late Saturday EDT. What got rolled for location means the next part shouldn't take too long to put together.

All d100, low is bad

Location: 1 (really?!?)
Damage: 46
Survivors: 42
Abyssals: 85
Language (you): 74 (yes, fluent)
Language (ship): 5 (no)
