Still preferring the Ice Lady route even if not interacting more with Jiao and Xin will be sad as well as Suyin and Su Ling probably losing some screen time. I just feel the Ice Lady route is super interesting from both a character and world building perspective

tbf with Su Ling. She is a commoner so she should, unless something weird has happened, join the sect army in 2 months for her 8 year service.

Hmmm not only do we need to consider what's best for us but also how that effects those left behind if we go Ice Princess. Sun will have more time in the spotlight as she's likely to take over the tourney. Will Turtly boy be more in the Sect or the Duchy?

As it stands I'm leaning towards Diplomat but the thought of leaving behind storylines and friends hurts.

Very much in favour of the Sect Tournament Route and leaning back towards the Sect and Sect mechanics again.

I'd like to be able to rub shoulders with Imperial VIPs and hone and show off our skills than stay subordinate to a Duchess forever (or at least for the foreseeable future) with a small fief of our own to manage that takes up what free time we have.

We're gonna be subordinate to the Cai basically forever. We made that choice already. Hell, short of a miracle where we somehow catch the eye of the Empress, it's the best and most prestigious option available to us.

Hmm, lots to think about.
Laying out the pros/cons of each option clearly is definitely appreciated Yrs.

I'm still on the tourney route but I can definitely appreciate the diplo route more now. Maaaayybe I could be convinced to change but my thoughts on the matter now are:

Access to sect elders, challenges, and training seem really really important. The ice ladies route would I think offer insights into domain and the world yes, but we will get those irregardless. Whereas access to high level cultivators who are willing to (mostly) freely share information, training, insight, etc. just isn't going to come outside of the sect.
I've also really wanted to do some exploring with that map. Like, ever time we've opened it something really interesting has happened. Could we this turn devote time to exploring the map? Just for funs. Given the moon link it could definitely lead to opportunities to working away on that heart demon which is something to keep in mind.

At some point we are going to have to go prospecting for our fief irregardless so getting to do that a little sooner doesn't sway me over much, while loosing access to our friends earlier is definitely a big downer for me. Basically, the stuff we get access to early by going diplo doesn't sway me cause we get to do that anyways later, whereas the stuff we give up early by going to diplo are all things that we can't get access to later.

Apart from the map and heart demon as above I don't have a huge preference as to the plan/cultivation for the next turn so I'll just lurk on that and see what the spreadsheet cabal comes up with.

Yeah but going the Sect route lets us meet people which could eventually possibly result in us meeting the Empress and in the meantime, I'd find the Sect and magic more interesting than managing a fief and tinkering with magic in what free time we get. We could always do the fief later.

The big reason why managing a fief sooner is better is that Zhengui currently feels stifled at the sect. He needs his own place to establish and rule as "King". Helping prepare the Neutral Ex-Hui ruin, and later on preparing the fief is much better for him.

I think it's extremely unlikely that something like that with the Empress ends up happening. We were already absurdly lucky to be proving ourselves in the Argent Sect in the same year that the heir of the province joined it, at a time when she was looking for retainers. That kind of luck is already absurdly crazy, even for someone like Ling Qi.

It might be fun to speculate about, but at the end of the day our luck has its limits and it would be imprudent of us to choose our path based on the expectation of extremely longshot luck.

i'm leaning towards ice diplomat just cus i wanna get our own fiefdom and establish the qi clan for real before i die of old age irl. get our amazing cultivation simulator on.

not really that inclined towards sect tourney cus all of the interesting side characters don't really have a presence in the story anymore and biao trader dude i think we could pull on board since new contact with a society would prob be super benifical for him.

I'm somewhat irritated by the way the 'details' have been laid out. A number of subtleties in the wording are tilted towards the Sect, such as phrasing the Ice Diplomat's effects on relationships specifically as a decrease of relationship with the Sect. People dislike penalties/loss more than they like gains, this is a basic psychological fact.

Even more in favor of Ice Diplo now. Even the downside of leaving the sect early has us staying far longer then ppl where expecting. (Some where saying we would move out right this instance).

The people we are probably saying goodbye to earlier then expected is Suyin and Su Ling. And Su Ling is supposed to join the sect army at the end of month 13 so we should not be seeing much of her next year anyway. Beside them it is music club and the Wang training group. Wang boi is a bit iffy due to being a boarder clan so might fall into both routes?

Meizhen is tied to CRX due to her goals so probably not hard to get her onboard, which means Fefe. Xuan Shi we might actually be able to recruit if we play our cards right, like the update said " Characters at the Sect who are not brought on board with your operation will have reduced access. " he is prime recruit material I think.

While not wrong, it's also only 8 months and Zhengui isn't likely to get to what G4 or 5 in that time? Hardly a king in spiritual terms.
