[X] Strip To Half-Plate: The forges of Ostland have been supplying these three tribes of Albion with heavier armor, chainmail, and fine steel weapons of various sorts. They have taken the plate and such, but apparently have made the choice for this most immediate fight for only half-plate, reducing their weight and encumbrance.

@torroar - Doing some googling around and learning about metallurgy, my amature reading is that some higher end stainless steels probably could be used weapons and armor (but also that higher end stainless steels tend to be expensive. Dunno if that's an artisanal cost or material cost, though.)

Would it be possible or even worth it to research something like that?

Stainless steel was invented in the 20th Century.

So....no. You'll not be getting that anytime soon. Truesteel exists, but it is a dwarfen thing, and while it could be close to 'fantasy stainless steel', it is something that is extremely expensive to make in any significant quantity.

How about we work on creating a Bessemer Process or Open Hearth Furnace equivalent first?

These seem a bit more obtainable at the moment, and would allow us to produce steel in much, much larger amounts.

Fair. I didn't actually dive deep enough into the process to see if it wasn't discovered until the 20th century because the tech didn't exist, or just because it wasn't stumbled on to.

[X] Something Else: Strip to Half-Plate and leave the horses on the ship.

If the army is going through a swamp filled with poisonous and thorny plants then I feel that the 100 horses will be more of a liability and will only slow the army down. There will probably be a roll to keep the horses in check and to prevent them from being poisoned.

Is there any point in taking armor off the mounted knights? Struggling to think of a situation where a horse with rider in light armor won't sink, but a horse with rider in heavy armor will. Either the horse will find fitm ground or it won't, but horses are heavy!

[] Something Else: Everybody strip to half-plate except the mounted knights.

Something like that.

I imagine that Albion's horses are trained differently than imperial ones and are accustomed to the terrain I still feel like we should leave the horses behind as the imperial horses are unfamilliar with albion's terrain.

[JK]: Do some quick, on the fly math to figure out the weight to surface area distribution of a half-plate wearing person on an unarmored horse. All riders need to strip down to half plate, but any ground troops that have a smaller weight to surface area distribution than your baseline of a half-plate horseman when fully armored may remain so. You're not the world class genius your sister is, but you're still a genius in your own right. Time to put those logistics skills to good use!

Let's not go against local advice.

Yeah, when in unfamiliar Territory, not heeding the Locals Advice is a horrible Idea.
