The Ishval War 3: The Great Alchemist Detective's First Case.
-[X]investigate (The Unit): Willie says he was at his duty post… what about his unit? Do their stories match up? Rolled:
1D100 => 12+20+20=52
April 24th, 1901, Garrison Barracks
The Barracks were quiet as you strolled through, looking at the men before frowning at them. These men were soldiers?
They were ill-disciplined Brutes who clearly deserved to be labeled as a Penal Batallion. And if Amestris didn't already make them outlawed fifty years ago, you would have wondered.
But that was not the worst thing about the unit, you discovered.
They were all staunchly anti-Ishvallan… Racists of the highest order given a gun and a free pass to start murdering people indiscriminately.
This was the Cream of Fessler's great crackdown force… men who had no restraint?
You wanted to be surprised.
You wanted to be shown the different sides of men forced to make decisions based on defending their brothers.
But these men… were assholes. How Willie survived their tortures… their bullying, you did not know… but that man could survive these men… there was no way he would have snapped against a smiling child.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But that was the worst thing…
Willie did snap… You were the one who found his body, hanging in the street… a sign over his neck.
"Forgive me. May my death be the Equivalent to your loss."
He wrote… as if he was at fault for everything that had happened…
You made sure to get a few pictures before the soldiers took the body away.
Reward:
Willie is dead…He killed himself... But you find out that he was monstrously bullied by his racist unit… He was the only good man in a sea of horror…
You suspect something or someone placed this unit here…
-[X]investigate (The Orders): You need to find out who's giving the Orders around here… It certainly wasn't Fessler… But then again, Fessler hated Ishvallans'... with a fiery passion Rolled:
1D100 => 74+40=114
You got direct orders from the General. A Letter that was for… Some person codenamed Dante.
Memorandum, on the Ishvallan Issue, Letter Number 15,
To Dante,
I must inform you that your hostility against the Ishvallan Events will not be kept under wraps any longer. For months now, there have been flames fanned by our mutual ally within the Ishvalan government and priesthood, who wish to see…
Acts of God wrought down upon them, to remind them of their status. The High Priest has been very against Amestrian Policy, and we are not going to allow him to remain when allies among the priesthood will pick up the torch.
Violence and relocations are considered last resorts… but if the fighting Starts, I will ask high command for Authorization for total warfare.
We will be able to remove the Terrorist influence within the Priesthood. And there will finally be peace in the Region, with our allies in command.
Once more, I ask for patience… we must remain in control.
From, General Fessler.
Reward: You have a letter from the general himself, showing a conspiracy to start the fighting… but without others… it is just a single, out of context letter.
But it is Evidence.
-[X]Investigate: (The Disappearances): You need to find out where those trucks are going… if they are going anywhere for that matter? Rolled:
1D100 => 27+40-20(Enemy Cover up)=47
You didn't get much… But it was better than you hoped.
The Trucks were going North, towards an Oasis called Jasmine Point. One of the last outposts of the Desert before Eastern Command. It was Train Yard and Farming village… And one of the few areas that were isolated… with only a single rail line going through it.
Not even a Telegram line went through it, only wireless came through via train…
That was where they were going.
Reward: Jasmine Point is the location of where the Ishvallans imprisoned are going… But where else… you did not know.
-[X]Investigate (The Child's Family): Something doesn't feel right about this. A kid being murdered in the middle of the street while Playing… There must be something more? The Family is still alive… you think. Rolled:
1D100 => 99+20=119
April 30th, 1901,
You felt strange, covering the child's Funeral.
You walked in without a single word, as you always did. You felt like you were walking through lava, each glare burning your skin…
I shouldn't have done this. You thought as guilt flowed through your mind.
But the parents were smiling as they saw the Camera.
They came to you, with gazes of kindness. "Are you a reporter?" The mother asked.
You nodded.
She gave a small smile. "I only hope that one day… the truth comes out. That my daughter did not get killed because of a single man… but because she was chosen for a greater purpose."
The mother then looked away. "She would have loved seeing everyone together…" she then pointed to the family, about to carry her body to the Pyre. "Could you take a picture for us… of her."
You nodded.
And you took a photo.
It wouldn't go to the Paper.
But it would help you with something…
Resolve.
You would find the truth… for a dead little girl, and all the others that were killed.
Reward: You discover the Girl was just a girl, someone who was innocent… Her family no ones in the scheme of Ishval… save fore being just regular citizens.
But that only made things worse. For everything that happened to her was senseless.
-[X]The Alchemy Preparation: You need to prepare this hotel for a raid, make sure that no one but the Staff and yourself gets your notes. Don't want to go to jail for spilling state secrets. Rolled:
1D100 => 96
Pressure plates would ring bells to warn you someone was entering the hotel.
The stairs would become slides when someone heavier than an average person climbed up them… only someone with automail would be able to trigger it, or a squad of soldiers.
Ink on your pen would disappear without adding lemon juice to it.
Letters would burn if broken with standered Steel in letter openers.
You were taking every precaution. And hopefully it will work.
Reward: Only a master Alchemist can read your letters, if they are intercepted.
Arrest Roll:
1D100 => 2-30=(-28)
The Men are not interested in you.. .after all, you have only taken pictures… and Fessler thinks your a loyal Amestrian, considering you are not even speaking…
That and any proper Central Amestrian will assist his men with finding criminals.
You were disgusted by such a thought.
‐[X]Write: You need to write a story and sent it to the Paper… The more you know, the Better.
