[X] Plan Crouching Reporter, Hidden Badass
-[X] Your Mother: Beautiful Mother… soft and sweet. Your mother died in childbirth when you were 11… your little sister never seeing the light of the world. There was so much blood… Now you needed her… she was the only one who could make you remember your humanity… to remember that there was a life that you could live.
-[X] Your Nerves (Parts of your Nervous System. You will never feel how liberating the Truth is)
-[X] The Amestrian Tribune
-[X] The Alchemist Fan: You cover the State Alchemists who work on the many breakthroughs in science, that make the lives of Amestrians better. This has earned you praise from the Government… though a few high ranking officials think you dig too deep sometimes… and meddle in things you do not understand.
Okay, the way I built up this character is rather simple: FMAB likes to set up characters who seem simple on the surface but have a surprising amount of depth.Take Maes Hughes for example. On the surface he's a doting father and loving husband who works in army intelligence, and he also put together Father's plan WAY early in the season because he is a cunning mind who likes to pretend he's not actually as simple minded as he likes to imply.
The idea for our guy is simple: I chose mother and alchemist fan because that would give us a surprise connection with the Elric Bro's (meta I know) and we can still follow the war in ishval because the number of alchemists being deployed (also just because we don't specialize in war doesn't mean we won't cover it). We can be reasonably invested in the story and maybe become part of Mustangs inner circle.
I also chose no nerves because A) Truth likes to take things away from people in a poetic fashion (Al was Edwards leg to stand on, Mustang had a new vision for amestria, etc) so us wanting to feel our mothers love and as a consequence we can no longer feel again, and B) I find playing a character who can't feel would be an interesting experience for character development and even combat because honestly it's a lot more subtler mark of us finding the truth. Oh and it can be a surprisingly useful tool for combat.
I don't really care what the paper is so I just picked the most popular at the moment.
Also, since we crossed the gate having no nerves and not wanting to use alchemy would be good to hide us from Father's plans (for a time)
So all in all, on the surface our character would be an enthusiastic and cheerful guy who loves alchemy and alchemists in particular who occasionally knows a bit more than he should. Not good, but hardly a threat or even a nuisance.
In reality, we are a skilled alchemist (we met Truth) who is unable to feel pain and a very specialized investigator into one of the most sensitive branches of the Amestrian Military.
I feel as though if we play our cards right we can have a very interesting character who is unique to the setting but not in a jarring way and can actually fit in to the cast of characters.
As a personal side note, I feel like that would be a lot more interesting than losing an arm or a leg. Go big or go home people!
