@Goldfish With our establishing Mirror Vision networks across Westeros, and most of it not speaking the more common Valyrian used in national broadcasts, could we apply the Allspeak enchantments used in the presses in conjunction with the auditory enchantments on the Mirrors?

That way it's perfectly understandable regardless of what media is playing through them.

You could even have a minor illusion enchantment to make lip-syncing happen!
We discussed this a while back and, IIRC, the best solution we came up with which @DragonParadox approved of was to use a Hallow spell with a linked Tongues effect so that everyone broadcasting could then be understood by their audience, regardless of location.

There isn't any reason this couldn't have already been done in the backgrouns, IMO. We have multiple sources for the Hallow spell, and it's 40 foot radius means that one spell could easily be set up to encompass multiple stages, broadcast booths, etc. It would make sense, too, considering how many languages are spoken across the Imperium.

The Court of Stars survivors like all fey are good at word choice, you can betray an old alliance (which was not renewed) without breaking your oath.
Ha.
Oh wait, they are serious.
We have to purge them even harder.

[X] Do not interfere, some of your nobles are likely to consider you heavy handed indeed when it comes time to extend the reach of Imperial laws, best take a lighter hand where you can

Viserys: *institutes universal legal code and pays for extensive and comprehensive law enforcement procedures and personnel*

Nobility: "That infringes on our rights!"

Time for our own smear campaign as the final nail in the coffin.

Tell the smallfolk and hedge mages what the Reach would have become as utterly irrelevant side characters. Tell the nobles how their will would be sapped away as they become mere puppets.

On the matter of interfering ourselves in religious matters, it looks like Florent is going to need our assistance in that matter.

This will largely come down to increasing law and order in the area. If large angry mobs are broken up before they can really catch steam, and if the religious officials are approached and informed of both their rights and responsibilities, as well as what is explicitly and definitely against the law, it should cut down on issues, since part of that is reassuring, no, no forced conversions will be happening on anyone regardless of their current religion.

... regardless of religion, yes, Septon.

This is so satisfying.

Not so satisfying when that sounds like the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the backlash for this. Even after all we've done for Renly he's scared of us now. For those that don't know us when this comes out it's going to make trades and alliances with some impossible now. Or at least it should.

We can honestly start creating our own fey courts if it comes to it. We have Fey Forges and some powerful fey. Will they be as powerful as the ones we nuked? Not in this lifetime. But can we replace them? Certainly.

We may want to start looking into getting some fay bane things set up around the reach and the wall. Just incase the fay want to pull something trickey.

It's the price you pay when you're willing to throw nukes around unfortunately.

But to be fair it's impossible to please everyone and by the nature of the game we're going to piss off people regardless of what we do.

Some shit though deserves to be nuked, and the Court of Stars little schemes was pretty high on that list. If folks aren't willing to play ball with us after dealing with them like that then that's just the cost of getting shit done.

Once we get the Fey Forge properly we can definitely work on enhancing it. I imagine getting it to work to our whims is going to be considerably more annoying, but with enough focus we can manage.

Don't get me wrong. I understand the fears that they have. We just unleashed the greatest showing of a divine smite this side of Westeros since the Hammer of the Fucking Waters. The first one that is (which mind you, destroyed the land-bridge and created the Stepstones where our capital is). Their reactions are reasonable and fair. They don't know the full severity of what the court wanted to do.

Frankly I think that it was worth it. Knowing the full extent of their plot, it is hard to look at what we did and not call it a reasonable reaction. The problem will be in the explaining and making people believe it.

We'll need to consider how to protect the Reachlords caught up in that. Maybe suggest they were manipulated as well or something.
I mean, it's true if you squint!

IMO our official line should be:
  • Court of Stars tried to enchant the whole Reach!
  • They would be impossible to disobey, their laws would overrule human laws, and their whimsical and twisted "justice" would overrule the protection of rightful human Lords who understand human concerns
  • The protection they offered came at a price, but this price was no human lordship. They took no taxes, no grain for Winter - instead they would turn the Reach into a storybook, where the lives, minds and fates of every mortal would be pre-written to better fit the tale. And of course, if their tale needed villains to vanquish and suffering peasants for the brave knight to save, then they will be made to suffer to as long as necessary to make the deed look glorious enough!
  • The Fey cannot lie, but their madness makes such a restriction meaningles. The Queen of the Court of Stars believed that the harm she would inflict didn't matter, and thought mortals did not care about having their minds and fates controlled not by their own soul or their Gods but by a broken Fey Queen who fought their ancestors when the world was young.
  • The Fey cannot lie, but they can mislead. And tricking the Lords of the Reach is easy when said Lords don't know enough about magic to spot the signs.

personally as long as the remains of the court of stars don't become Illithid/fiend/void bait I don't care what the chaff think about us. Is there really a difference between them not negotiating with us when they thought of us an overgrown lizard and them not negotiating out of pants-wetting fear?
