@Azel You know who's probably behind this? Or at least responsible for all the goddamn conjuring? That fucking mage we saw in the Opaline Vault who worked for Tywin. The one with the Mantarys accent.

This is why we don't leave loose ends.
I sincerely hope you are wrong.

Mainly because I can't think of anything else then what we already have planned to shit on him.

[X] As Crakes plan except instead of exploding the building, have Inquisition forces, including a healthy number of reserves, get into positions to take down the mirrors and to cordone off the building you are in. Then use Forbiddance and sweep the whole building, arresting anyone within or connected to it.

Hmm, I'm pretty sure the surviving Cultists and the fiend in Lorath have something to do with this too.
It was noted that we found some older assets there, from long before our takeover, so I suspect that might come from Mantarys-refugees too.

In general my guess is that Abraxxas strategy was not unlike Tiamat's in regards to her dragons, have the surviving loyalists spread out from Mantarys and start over somewhere else, be it in Tywin's service, in the Free Cities or further abroad.
This far-spread approach where it doesn't really hurt if we find and destroy a single cell or agent seems perfect for the CE fiends, as it means they don't have to work in an organized structure, but rather each can do his own thing and they will generally still contribute to the overall advancement of Abraxxas' plans.

So, it seems that we need to up our security again, that and make our Inquisitors much more paranoid. I now know what Malcanore feels when Chaos pulled off the BS that was the Horus Heresy out of no where.

@DragonParadox did Maelor gain any exp from the City of Brass this month? Also was that an IC hint of Viserys's ability to grant cleric spells due to Maelor not being around Viserys for a long time or warlock shenanigans?

@Crake I don't recall if it has come up, but Ablative Barrier might be a good base for a force shield spell since it basically uses that mechanic to provide an AC bonus and convert some lethal damage to nonlethal damage.

Absorbing Barrier doesn't use the same mechanism, but it's much more powerful and effects a wider area. Not as useful for the permeable force shield research, but I think it would pair well with the final result as part of a layered defense.

The spell doesn't translate well. Maybe as an upgraded custom spell which bastardizes Brilliant Barrier and Ablative Barrier into one spell, where it not only provides a materialized force effect with an HP pool, but also DR which reduces incoming damage. But the spell by itself doesn't work on its own.

So I'm looking at the rolls and writting for everything both in Tolos and in SD and unfortunately I don't think I can manage it this late guys, not to any reasonable quality, sorry guys.

I'll get at least three updates tomorrow, promise.

I know, but I was thinking that it would shorten the research around the other aspects of a sci-fi style force shields. A wall of force you can shoot through isn't the same as a creature conforming force effect that doesn't impede motion or interfere with interacting with things.

We could just use cube of force style boxes, but that creates a bigger attack surface and should create substantial drag on any flying vehicles. Being able to steal bits or take inspiration from how an existing spell handles the complicated parts of making the shield mobile and outline conforming seems like it'd shorten the amount of research required to get to the final product.
