We Will Never Die: Rebooted (A Halo Spartan Quest)

[X]A Speed Problem: Kelly needs help… she's phasing in and out of existence, or at very least in the visible light spectrum... not being able to control her molecules, or her own speed. She's terrified, and without a doubt… in need of help.

Augmentation 2: The Speed Force!
Augmentation 2: The Speed Force!

You looked into Kelly's room as you examined the blinking, and the lightning coming from her body.

She was going fast… very fast.

"Sigma, are you tracking?" You asked as you sat down, wanting to get some intel.

"Barely, she's going faster than my sensors and cameras can detect." He replied. "That and if I move them any closer, they'll be destroyed by the lightning she's generating."

Ah… that was going to be a problem. "Can she hear us?" You asked.

"Yeah…" Sigma asked. "Why?"

"Light, is it possible for me to enter the room, without being turned into a puddle of goop?" You asked.

Light raised an eyebrow. "Really… do you have a deathwish or something?"

"No. But there is someone who needs my help, and as a doctor, we must try." You stated.

Light sighed. "You know at this point, I should really have seen this coming." He then buried his hands into his face. "If you lose anything, I'm going to making cybernetics."

"I wouldn't doubt it, Light." You stated as you walked towards the room.

It was sealed shut, mostly to keep everyone else who was outside of said room safe… er from the speed and force of nature that was Kelly.

You knocked on the door. "Kelly! It's me Gian!" You shouted as you stood by the door. For a moment there was nothing before the door sprung open, and Kelly was waiting for you.

"Are you here to help Doc?" She asked as she gave a frightened smile.

"Yeah." You replied. "Can I come in?"

"Be careful." She said, as she then disappeared from your vision, appearing again, sitting on her table.

She had healed almost… fully from the Augmentations. In fact, you were quite shocked to find there were no signs of any scarring that you and the other spartans had… well with the exception of Ralph, but he's a special case.

Actually, you wondered why you didn't just ask for his help in the first place? He was practically immortal… Or at least unkillable by normal means.

Maybe it was your own arrogance… or your need to only risk yourself than someone else.

"Kelly… i think there is a way for you to stop vibrating… but i need you to trust me." You stated as you sat down on the chair.

She was still vibrating… but she was feeling a lot better… she was actually visible to you right now. She was a blur, one that was visible, but… not.

It was like staring into a broken computer screen, and on the other end was static.

"Well… what is it?" She asked as she tried to sit on the bet, but only began to phase through it, causing her to hold onto the railing to stay there.

"Well, we have two options. One I can put up a mental barrier that can disable your powers, or we can try to get some semblance of control." You stated.

"Something tells me that either way, we'll be in for a long night huh?" She stated with a sad smile.

"Yes. And thankfully, I'm going with the Latter option. I'd rather not accidentally lobotomize you." You said. "Light, you can come out now."

Light phased into existence in front of Kelly, smiling. "Hello Kelly, it's nice to meet you… Though I wish it was under better circumstances."

She returned the smile. "So what are you? A psychic projection of Gian's desire to be a doctor?"

"No, I'm his past life… Long story on that bit of trivia, but the debriefing will have to wait." He stated. "Now, I need you to start running back and forth between the walls."

Kelly was confused. "What? I'll just run right through them!?" She stated.

"The point is to not run through them Kelly." He replied.

"He wants you to get control… so your control will have to come through slamming yourself into the wall… not to speed up, to slow down." You stated, taking a sip of water. "Do it!"

Kelly did as you asked.

For the first thousand or so times, she just ran through the walls.

Finally, after a thousand more times… she slowed down, slamming into the bulkhead… and was no longer vibrating.

Kelly smiled. "I… thank you."

"Always." You replied with a smile. "Just remember that you need to slow down before you can speed up again, otherwise we might be… having this situation again."

Reward: Kelly has control of the Speed Force.

Spartan Morale improves.

What do you do now?:

[]Making Rank and other Liberties Denied: As it turns out… Fred found out something that you can use to your advantage in your inevitable take over of the Spartan project. The UNSC hasn't paid you or any of the other spartans for the years of service you have served… or given rank… or leave… and a thousand other things that would make the entire UNSC Navy get angry at ONI.

[]The Last of Us: It appears that you have a visitor… one Colonel Ackerson. You might as well humor him before destroying him with a few words.

[]The Purple Passion: So, you went to the Mess hall, with your team.. .when Ralph walked back from an Experiment. "For the record." He stated. "I think I'm awesome!" He had a hole in his head from an anti-tank rifle… that was slowly filling in and healing properly.

[]Mind over Matter: So Sam wants to see if you can… well, for lack of a better word, use your mind powers to beat him at a series of strength games.

[]A Small Chance: John is boxing at the Gym… and then some ODST motherfuckers are trying to fight him… you need to stop people from getting killed.

[]A Memory: Kirk was a quiet one. That was why he came to you with Caleb. "I need some help… I want you to help me remember something."

[]A… Wait what the-!: Serin has a problem. You think something went horribly wrong with the augmentations. Mostly for one reason… She wishes to… have a relationship. Clearly this requires more study, because half the damn Spartans aren't emotionally stable enough to even consider relationships with each other, even when there is clearly chemistry between them! You blame Mendez for that.

[]Eagle Eyes: Linda cannot miss… anything. You need to test that, quickly.

[]Hero Too: So… the Spartans are a bit on the… confused side. Good thing you have a cure for that confusion… A Spartan Cultural Festival! What is Mendez going to do, try and stop 75 super-powered super soldiers?!... You Blame Light for this.

AN: enjoy.

Ah, yes, we shall torture the ONI with their most hated enemy... Human Rights!

Christ. I think this stopped being Halo at some point because... yeah... this is the death knell for homo sapiens. This is blowing past almost all predicted transhumanist paths to the point that an instant Bad End would be the Flood getting even one of us. It would be an open door into their using Precursor abilities again without having to form a Gravemind or Keymind. And this is very nearly the opening salvo for augmentation.

The Covenant isn't going to be full of shit if they pin theological significance on this and call us demons. It would be a pretty good description.

Well... maybe.

Maybe not, because for all the scifi trappings and our mucking around... we're still pretty human... For the most part.

Good thing we're not going to be trying to find the flood, aren't we... Because holy shit... that would be a bad thing.

Especially if they get us.

But we could still probably light the rings and just starve the motherfuckers out, if we really needed to.

Well...

We are the baddest motherfuckers in all of hummanity...

We are demons.

Meh, don't worry, we still have some safe years before the Flood awakens unless we start meddeling with Forerunner shit, you should be more focused in the inminent encounter with the Covenant before that.

--And we haven't even turned all of the UNSC army into SPARTAN's IV!

Just ourselves, Gian? We will be a creature that is capable of thinking in proper bullet time, with a full and proper mind-machine interface, able to trivially break people with a few well placed words, and now with psionics on top of it. Which includes the ability to violate the sanctity of another man's skull, perform remote technomancy which will do god knows what to AIs unlucky enough to be graced by us, create tulpa constructs, and generally play doctor with the laws of physics.

And that is ignoring the 'child soldier' component, and the part where Light clearly has even more terrifying crap in his past thatn we've guessed. He was mostly surprised that we pulled this off with our current resources and technology level, not that it happened at all. That man has seen some shit and a slow integration with him is probably inevitable. His abilities violate human norms several times over and his mentality seems rather skewed.

If we just get bog standard Spartan treatment from here on out you still won't get something remotely human out of the mix. And we're going to be inclined to do even more for the next generation of Spartans. Though I'm still more inclined to break out the cloning tanks, normal speed, if we automate our industry enough finances aren't a worry. Humans mature fast enough.

I'm rather inclined to have a walnut sized mass of technobabble-stabilized antimatter embedded in the brain of every Spartan if and when we learn of that particular threat. I'd be first in line with zero reservations.

We are holes in the idea of a sane, rational universe.

Yeah, Like i said, we're on another level of hummanity, but we're still at the end of the day human.

Kinda like the ancient humans that are also a part of us in some small, strange and bullshit way, because DNA is a funny bitch that really needs to be not screwed with by aliens who want us to inherit the mantle of responsibility.

Light is a good man.

Not a nice man, most certinaly not a moral man... But his heart is in the right place, and he will do everything to protect hummanity from, either itself, or the coming alien menece.

He's just goes about it in a way that is totally... well batshit insane...

But given what the man has gone through, batshit insane is actually a good thing.

Uh... Not to burst your bubble, but Cloneing is not what I call...

A Science we will be able to access as we are right now...

Esspecially when, we are about to finish our training, and begin the long process of missions for the UNSC.

And proboly help Halsey take over ONI.

Why would we need that? We can just... well, we can always make the MJNOR Armor into planet killing bombs that explode when we die.
We are holes in the idea of a sane, rational universe.
True...

Very true.
