That's quite a generous failure. I was expecting madness and outright regression in the research as it was revealed that one of the researchers was going mad and all his stuff had to be dumped, something like that.
The horribly plot foiled in the background does unsaid, because what kind of Far Realm madness doesn't drive you to skin someone alive in an attempt to open the Gate?

You guys had a Valyrian flesh-smith on the job and a very well stocked library on the matter. Also on the mechnical side you rolled very well for recovery.

Tyroshi Mage: "So my innards did not turn into snakes?"

Vee: "No. That did not happen."

Tyroshi Mage: "And the sky didn't start bleeding and whispering in a dark language?"

Vee: "Nope. Didn't happen."

Tyroshi Mage: "And there is no snake / Illithid monster in the forge that rants about fools reading texts beyond their feeble faculties?"

Vee: "Well..."

[X] Yes,
-[X] Work though the Monastery of the Unbroken Circle (Cost 4d6 Research Dice assigned to a project of the Grandmaster's choice next month)

I see no downside to this. Money is...barely an issue nowadays.

Waymar: "Two out of three isn't bad!"

I can't see the Githzerai reacting well to Qyburn. I don't doubt that we can keep knowledge about him compartmentalized, but that seems like the sort of thing that our enemies would love to spread around, and goodness knows the Marid would love something else to be difficult about.

That's a very good point. They will not be happy about Qyburn at all, much less our other projects.

[X] No, you do not need outside aid in this

Yeah, I agree, but I think we can go full disclosure and tell them the circumstances of his transformation and how it allowed us to learn a great deal of the Deep Ones' hidden lore. They could also verify that Qyburn's mind is his own.

If we're spilling state secrets then we need to plan for it so it doesn't blow up in our face. It's one thing to sell the Githzerai their own Fleshforged Beasts, but what Qyburn just pulled is anathema to them. He literally became something beyond a Mindflayer. This is akin to showing a R'hllorist where we manufacture our own Otherspawn and trusting that no diplomatic measures are needed.

We managed to convince the Old Gods that using undead is useful I think it's possible that we can convince the Githzerai that Qyburn is useful. Especially with his illithid intel he stole.

It will be difficult but that's why Viserys has immense social stats.

It's not impossible, but we didn't have those diplo successes without a diplo geared vote.

Not beyond a Mindflayer, but merely Mindflayer adjacent. He's an Aberration, though not one that feeds on the brains of others, nor is he compelled to parasitize victims in order to reproduce.

They shouldn't have any more issue with him than they would Xor, who we have not attempted to keep secret from them.

I'll update my vote to lay the groundwork for introducing them to Qyburn in an acceptable manner.

@Duesal, I think you are worried over much.
They were confused but not negative about the Illitocytes we got.
And iirc, they were tentatively interested in seeing whether that community Viserys thought possible to make (Illithid-likes living peacefully with other races) was indeed possible.

Quburn is nothing too bad. They had seen individual Squids doing fine in society before, he's not the sort of institutional change the Illithocytes might be.

Plan updated.

I don't think we'll have issues with this, as the Githzerai are not so much anti-Aberration as they are anti-Illithid, but it shouldn't hurt to check.

[X] Attempt to learn how adverse the Githzerai would be to working with us if they knew we employed an Aberration such as Qyburn as a researcher and Flesh-Smith, using diplomacy and Divination.
-[X] If the inquiry indicates the knowledge would damage our relationship with the Monasteries, we will continue working on this project alone.
-[X] If the Githzerai can look beyond the nature of our staff, however, we will work through the Monastery of the Unbroken Circle (Cost 4d6 Research Dice assigned to a project of the Grandmaster's choice next month)

Okay, I think this Is around the time for us to start on more in-depth actions foe the month.

@Goldfish, we have a vote-format of the write-up for this yet?
[X] Part 3 - The Great Summoning: Summon as many Fiends as you possibly can to fuel the ritual.
----[] Summoners: Viserys, Lya (1st Body)
----[] Guards: Dany, Richard, Vee (Free Action), Zherys, Waymar (Free Action), Malarys, Tyene (Free Action), Adamantine Golem (Monk 1)
The off-plane Snares Viserys is to be setting up from 1st 'till 11th of the month (and doing fun Buttercup stuff, and maybe a few MAs) in the free time?

We cant really start the whole action without the plans for one-off snares.

Tyroshi Mage, over a drink: "...and then he said 'two out of three isn't bad!' As if that made it all better."

Volantene Mage: "That's nothing. One time Lord Vanor was visiting and said something along the lines of, 'Back in my day, we were caging and pouring molten metal over them, and it wasn't an execution, it was just an interrogation technique. You'll need to be more creative for that one, he's seen worse'. We were trying not to traumatize the suspect."

Myrish Mage: "You two are small time still. I asked what went into the creation of the self-thinking constructs to Lady Lya--at least I think it was Lady Lya, I saw her an hour ago elbow deep in the guts of a metal beast captured earlier and she was still there when I went back and not muttering about throwing out their robes."

Volantene Mage: "That's teleportation, Guaros."

Myrish Mage: "She didn't leave, Baelon. Anyway, she said it required the crystalized despair of a mage who's life's work in pursuit of like-minded individuals was interrupted at the zenith point."

Volantene Mage: "Was that metaphor or..."

Myrish Mage: "What do you think?"

Braavosi Mage: "Don't look at me. I'm just here to get my certification in order to solicit for research grants."

*everyone turns to stare at the Sorcerer's Deep Mage*

Sorcerer's Deep Mage, smiling like he's dead inside: "You guys really need to relax. People with feeble minds don't have to deal with this stuff, usually."

Sorcerer's Deep Mage: "Besides. I've already seen it all at this point."

You guys move too quickly.... Also I have terrible luck! I refuse to read through reader mode so was catching up the long way, finally caught up way back when in Sep,2019 then boom! Car crash, out of it for a few months... Then yay finally catch up back in February.... Hmmm can I remember what made everything suck in February 2020... Oh yeah! Was out of a job and then out with being sick and etc etc. Finally back on track and then had to oh read another thousand pages plus!

Finally caught up again and it needs to be said to all participants, and of course the writers, that this really is the greatest gravy on earth. Amazing quest and story! (It should be illegal really... More addictive then crack! )

I fully intend to be an active participant... Finally. And this time the universe better agree dammit! Or at least distract me with winning like the playboy mansion, bunnies included instead of like pandemics and stuff.

(P.s to avoid being very annoying I have made myself not like every post these last few thousand pages, cuz there was lots to like, alertbombing you was a bit too rude of a way to re-introduce myself I figured.)
