We Will Never Die: Rebooted (A Halo Spartan Quest)

Upload all of humanity to robotic bodies! It's the only way!
So... Stellaris, then?
[THE FLESH IS WEAK]
PD: You know, it's weird that The Didact was the only one who had the idea to use unfeeling and unthinking robots against the literal biological apocalipse that was The Flood, I mean, i know why they would not use the Didacts plan but, why not use Dumb IA's to fight against The Flood?... Though, once again, it's been a while since i read the Forerunner Saga, so it may be explained there and i don't remember it.

Its honestly not a bad way. They have had millions of years to figure out how to subvert machines the same way they subvert biology and are still crap at it. A Gravemind can hack or diplomance an AI, sure, but that is because it is one of the smartest things in creation with the experience and memories of legions. Its still dangerous, this is an elder god trying to build itself using living things (not even specifically intelligent life) as bricks for its temple. If it festered too long, building even out of stromatolites, I would fear it. Those fuckers start interacting with reality itself as they grow and, from the Forerunners and Precursors, we know how bad that can be.

A machine bulwark would help though.

We still don't know how much they were jobbing for us in canon though. They apparently liked us as much as they could like anything.

As i say above, while I would not deny the idea of Ascend Humanity into a Robotic Race, while not before doing that we try and use conventional robots against the Flood? hell, why not against the Covenant too?

If Im not wrong, the only reason the Gravemind was able to turn Mendicant Bias (It's been a while, did I write it's name right?) to his side was by using his own logic against him, effectively creating a 'Logical Plague' to infect any Forerunner AI, he should not be able to do that with a Dumb AI... For a while, that's it.

The Forerunners kind of did... though they built big. I look at the Guardians and think they were doing just that. But they just didn't care about door-to-door fighting because, if the infection reaches you, at that point you may as well write it off and glass the thing. And if you are running purely machine you just don't bother with hallways or manual controls at all, building star engines instead of star ships.

Makes sense... (I really should review my Halo knowledge, it's been a while since i have saw something about the franchise...)

...So, Robotic Ascension it is? i'm imagining Johnson as an army of robots... it's beautiful *sheds tears*

Um... I don't think Mendez or Halsey would allow us to make an army of Robots...

Like really, they want us to be a super-soldier, not a purveyor of godless warfare.

Godless warfare is the best type of warfare!
...
Buuut, you're right about that, let's just make sure that we can create an unrampant AI before we start doing that and going the 'Army Maker' route!

Xenobiology Species Report on Ophis congregatio (Serpent Union) By Freak A Nature
@Magoose

Xenobiology Species Report on Ophis congregatio (Serpent Union)
Dated [REDACTED]

First Sighted Origin [REDACTED]
Description:
A species of small colonial worm-like creatures noted for their odd characteristics of gestalt formation and diet. Each "metal-worm" is an individual organism, about 1.4 meters long, with its own central nervous system. While similar in characteristics to earth-based Microchaetus rappi (African giant earthworm) its diet is a complete enigma among catalogued xeno-species. Despite each "metal-worm" portraying similar behavior to the earth-based biology we are familiar with, they do not seek or eat organic matter.. instead seeking various metallic deposits including iron as their main source of food. Another peculiar aspect of them is to collectively bond with one another both physically and neurologically to form gestalt colonies sharing the same preference of diet and transversal. These "subsistence gestalts" (footnote 1) are larger masses that communicate through chemical and electrical means throughout the entire colony. The "neural net" that a colony develop enables them to be incredibly strong and very sensitive to their surroundings, thus providing explanation for how they seek their preferred diet.. Further study is warranted to determine the extent of maximum colony size and its effect on intelligence and perception. Psychically colonies are capable of surviving in a vacuum given time to prepare for such a occasion, however rapid depressurization will still have fatal effects..

Each "metal-worm" is orange in coloration with slightly varying shades having been spotted providing some variation. The blood of the creatures is s a luminescent orange and reported to smell like burnt plastic as a result of their diets..

Assembly Action declared on this Species, possible sapience emerging at critical threshold of colony size. Observe-Monitor-Prepare

Footnote 1: subsistence gestalts: defined as an alien gestalt community with the ability to survive in extreme conditions, including the vacuum of space, for months or even years with barely any to no outside resources.

Is that the Flood?

Its good to have dreams. Maybe not in terms of anything we can capitalize on now but things happen, things go weird, and who the hell knows where we go. Spitballing ideas early on leaves you in a better position if you happen upon that moment and, even if you don't, parts of plans can be salvaged and repurposed.

The unethical parts of the Spartan project could be leaked early and we might literally go rogue with Halsey in tow, or end up as Halsey Mark 2.0 because we actually developed the right expertise and she got a bullet in the head. Or the Insurrection takes off, maybe splinters the government to the point we end up on the wrong side of things. Or the Spartan project fails and existing assets get repurposed. Or we end up behind enemy lines for long enough we have to improvise, short of reinforcements and fetters alike. Or we just get access to the right piece of Forerunner tech.

Right this minute all we are doing is making sure we are useful as more than just a beatmachine. Maybe get a chance to give our dad a hug and tell him not to regret our going, that this is okay and that he is doing nothing wrong. He's already better than most because he is 'in the know' enough that he doesn't have to deal with watching a flash-clone of us die horribly over a couple years time, thank god, but the guy deserves to have as clean a conscience as he can manage.

Later we can see what we can sell people on, or get running without interference anyway. But tomorrow is tomorrow.

Looking at the winning vote and do you guys want to be replaced by a flash clone? Because "Doctor… Does the word Reclaimer mean anything to you?" might get us replaced by a flash clone and I don't want our dear old dad to go through that after losing our mom.

[X]Say nothing: She already had what she wanted… observations on you… best not give her anymore.

Here's the thing. Unless the boys at Harvest do something insane and prevent the human covenant war... We're gonna be doing some funny business in terms of "We're a supersoldier."

The problem is, we're getting kidnapped anyway.

Whether as a Spartan-II (The most likely outcome) or as an Asset to help with the forerunners stuff that's on Reach, you bet your ass Dad's going to be going through some hell.

But there is also the chance he might even join the fun...

He's a former Chief after all.

I'd be open to this honestly. I wouldn't be opposed to our dad joining in on the fun too.
Well, the problem is... Even if dad rejoined the UNSC, and followed us to Reach... he might not even be able to help us through Boot.

And even if he did... the other Spartans might actually hate us, because we got dad, and they don't have any sort of family to speak of after being forcibly recruited.

Both? Leaning towards making the current augments better and more all round. But I think we should make it safer first cause if we fail making them better we at least made them safer

I mean, he can.

the Problem is, making everyone who is above us, listen to us. Because we don't have a doctorate, we'll technically be government property, and a child to boot.

I guarantee it will be harder then you think.

Probably but it would be nice if/when we do it making the Spartan 2 even better (i don't know we you would write that all the augmentations of the other Spartan projects plus extra?) Be interesting to see

Also who is dr light and what is he from?

All in all, just remembering that he exists will help a fair bit. We might never talk to him again, we might never mention him, but just him being out there somewhere is something.
