[X] Research: Cyberdyne didn't fire you. You quit. Just to make that clear. They fired you long before Skynet was developed. So you decided this was a time to take a break, clear your head and come back to find yourself blacklisted by the entire computing industry. Though that was pretty uncool of them, you do have plenty of new machines to take apart and mess about with. Being something of an expert on them apparently makes you leadership material now. Neat.
[X] Australia: Let's be honest. Skynet probably thought it had already nuked you. But no, the Outback just has that effect on people. Beautiful really in that dusty, sun will burn you hot desert kind of way. Not that the cities were so fortunate on the coast, though rumor has it there are plenty of islands untouched by the war in the Pacific. Too many for even Skynet to destroy.

FOR MOTHER RUSSIA!!!
Name:
[X] Yulia Petrenko
[X] Female
[X] The Officer: You were...are the commanding officer of what remains of an actual military unit. Or at least what resembles one. You are trained in tactics and how to use military hardware, not to mention how to command on the battlefield.

[X] Siberia: It's a big part of the world. And that's an understatement. There might be a reason you ended up there, but even that seems small compared to Judgement Day. Even with the world's nuclear arsenal unleashed, there were always going to be isolated scraps that escaped relatively untouched by the initial attacks, even avoiding the worst of the radiation. You happened to have found yourself in one such location.
(Vast territory to hide in. Skynet is on the other side of the Bering Straits, for now. Soviet-Era Stockpiles to take advantage of. Everything to the south of you is in utter chaos.)

Okay I'm kinda curious, why do y'all want to vote for Australia as a researcher? Their talent would be mostly wasted there where skynets presence is very light so we'll be dealing (if Australia wins) with bandits and outlaws.

[x]UK: You were saved by the fact that Cold War paranoia had resulted in Nuclear Fallout shelters being both available and accessible for those who knew where to find them. Whether by luck or connections, you found yourself deep underground when Judgement Day turned the outside world into a fireball.
(Worst hit location outside of North America. Resistance Groups in Europe likely to be divided. NATO Remnants. Skynet's control of the Atlantic needs to be broken before you can go on the offensive and you are next on it's list.)

So 1 year after J-Day if we are going by terminator 2: judgment day timeline

Edit: that means the main terminators by now would be the T-1's and the T-70's

I thought about it, but what happens if somebody pulls a time travel shenanigan on us? Say we somehow help the resistance greatly would skynet send a terminator back in time to kill us? how could we protect against it?

Thank you everyone who voted. Looks like Australian Tech-Support it is. I'll get started on the next post!

-[X] North America: You were fortunate enough to be south of the Mexican Border when Judgement day occurred. So...rolled stats via D30 because go big or go home.

You are either cursed or blessed because the dice are tsundere for you.

Character Creation Part 2
Of course that is just the loosest description of who you are. And just as there is no fate but what we make of it, you have the freedom to choose who you are as a person. Let none take that away from you, machine or otherwise.

What is your appearance:
[]Place here

Your base stat numbers are this (Place them where you want. We have rolled a 3d6):

18, 19, 3, 5, 21, 29

Diplomacy:

Martial:

Administration:

Intrigue:

Research:

Personal Combat:

Alice Springs

Northern Territory
The Commonwealth of Australia

December 1997

You groaned aloud as another stiff breeze crept through the curtains of your dusty motel room. Wasn't the Outback supposed to be sand and heat? If it was a nuclear winter, the weather could at least have given you some snow to look at rather than more sand creeping in through the shattered window pane.

Go on vacation they said. Take a trip to see Uluru with the rest of the gawking tourists. Stuck in with the heaps of drongo's making world defining statements such as "Wow, is that your real accent? This must be so close to home, huh?". Americans.

Relax and take some time to self evaluate from a way too stressful career that had long since crashed and burned. Making your way across a dirty carpet that crunched far too much for comfort and peace of mind, you took a look at yourself in the mirror.

Most people would be put off by the fact that they'd been blacklisted by Cyberdyne Systems to never work in the Computing industry ever again, but most weren't
Michelle Campbell, computing wizard...metaphorical speaking. If you did have magic, you wouldn't have dropped nukes just to get some petty revenge on the assholes who..mutually had you take an absence of leave, without pay. Or a job.

Probably. Though seriously, you really needed to find a new place to live.

Post-Apocalypse or not, this place was just asking to get robbed by the next marauding band of looters.

After all, you were:

Choose 2 good Traits and two bad traits.

[]Diligent: You are a hard worker. When you set your mind to something, you will complete it. (+1 to all stats except personal combat)

[]Patient: You were always one to sit and wait... and see what happens (+1 to all stats)

[]Just: You will always try and bring criminals to justice. (+4 Administration, +2 to diplo)

[]Gregarious: You can talk like no one's business, and get people to fall in love with you (+4 to diplomacy)

[]Temperate: You have never wasted anything, be it time, money, or food. (3 to Administration)

[]Administrator: You know how to delegate important tasks to your underlings (+4 to Administration, +1 to diplomacy)

[]Brave: You are utterly fearless on the battlefield and off it. (+2 to martial stat and +2 to diplomacy, +2 to Personal combat.)

[]Trusting: You have always tried to see the good in people and give them the benefit of the doubt. (+4 to diplomacy. -4 to intrigue)

[]Formidable Fighter: Your skill in personal combat is impressive, especially considering the military has ceased to exist (+4 to martial. +10 to personal combat)

[]Kind: You always try to brighten up someone's day, even when it costs you. (+4 to diplomacy, -2 to intrigue)

[X] Technophile: You have a talent for tinkering with machines. You just seem to get them. (+4 Research) AUTO-SELECTED DUE TO BACKGROUND, DOES NOT COUNT TOWARDS SELECTED ADVANTAGES

[]Deceitful: You were not what one would consider the trustworthy type. (+4 to intrigue, + 2 to personal combat -6 to diplomacy)

[]Proud: You think yourself better then anyone else. (-1 to diplomacy, +5 to personal action rolls)

[]Paranoid: You don't trust many new people, and are always wary of the ones you know. (+3 to intrigue -1 diplomacy)

[]Wroth: You are quick to anger, especially with your children involved. (-2 diplomacy, +2 to personal combat)

[]Ruthless: You will do anything to accomplish your goals. (-4 to diplomacy, +2 to intrigue, martial and Personal combat)

[]Slothful: You never really try at anything. (-1 to all stats)

[]Lustful: You have enjoyed many of the finer things in life, notably the pleasures of the flesh. (-2 to diplomacy, +20 for fertility rolls)

[]Blind: You have no sight in your eyes. (-2 martial. -1 Administration -1 Research. Personal combat skill locked at 0)

[]Shy: You never liked to go out in front of people and talk to them. (-2 to diplomacy)

[]Stutter: You have had a stutter ever since you were born. (-4 diplomacy)

[]Crippled: Either due to an accident or a troubled birth, you have been born crippled. (-5 to martial, -5 to personal combat skill)

[]Wounded: You got injured, either in battle or your own stupidity. (-1 health, -4 to personal combat skill, -2 to martial)

[]Marked for Termination: You don't know how. You don't know why. But Skynet has your name near the top of it's list. (???)

[]Technophobe: You are quite frankly terrible with technology. You dislike it and the feeling appears mutual. -4 to Research Unable to access due to chosen background

March 1st, 1998

A fresh start was exactly what you needed. One provided by the end of the world and being lucky enough to encounter a group who wasn't looking to murder and rob you, if you were lucky, as you headed out into the big wide world.

Not to mention you have an actual bed! With clean sheets, a pillow and of course, no fucking sand!

How would you describe it... (Select One)

[] A metal military cot bolted to the steel wall. - You are still not sure how you managed to find a intact submarine, but you did. It's a very long story to how you managed to get it going again, though you should really stop for repairs at some point. The engine is making weird noises again. And now you haunt the pacific, enjoying a pleasure cruise until you find a piece of civilisation that wasn't burnt to the ground.
(Start on the HMAS Collins, Collins-Class Diesel Submarine. "Crew" approximately 60 people. Repairs required to utilize weapons. Location, somewhere in the Pacific?)

[] A dusty sand-filled motel bed. - Okay, you were kind of lying to yourself. Turns out you have literally the best bed in town and this little pile of scrap appears to be the closest thing to civilization for hundreds, if not thousands of miles. You aren't sure how you ended up as leader of a band of frightened tourists, angry locals and the occasional confused survivor who comes stumbling out of the desert, but dammit, you are going to make it work.
(Start in Alice Springs, Population estimated at around 20,000. Oncoming resource crisis. In the middle of a desert.)

[] A sleeping bag in a tent. - You hate camping, though in your defense, this is literally your first attempt and you haven't died so far. With the coastal cities basically mushroom clouds, you decided, with several like-minded people, to go on the move instead, keeping out of the way of the marauding gangs and following the tried and tested "safety in numbers" strategy. It's worked out so far and it's not like you can't fix a car engine when needs must, so if you weren't in charge, you'd hardly be out of a job.
(Start close to Sydney Area in nomadic "tribe", approximately 200 people and growing. Rival gangs in area.)

Edit: I told you the dice were Tsundere.

My reasoning for the choices I've made basically are as follows. In terms of stats, we likely aren't going to be getting into any fights in the near term future, at least until we're able to get a military advisor. And as a researcher, out job is basically to stay the hell away from the things trying to kill us, be they human or Terminator. Learning is obviously going to be our most necessary stat, both as a researcher, and to try keep up or surpass Skynet, Intrigue is useful for keeping power, and making sure we don't get surprised by things like machines covered in skin. Stewardship keeps us and our people alive and productive, and Diplomacy lets us get along decently well with other people.

As for martial, we're a researcher, we shouldn't realistically know anything about it and Piety is good for morale, but it's more of a 'let someone else handle it' kind of thing for me.

As for the traits, the plus 8 to admin will be necessary to keep things running in a place like Alice Springs, and the plus three to diplo will wipe out the negative drawbacks of being paranoid and proud, giving us an even better intrigue score to keep abreast of nasty surprises, and giving us a boost for our personal actions. Technophile is a freebee, but it'll push our learning up to super human levels, which is necessary when we're competing with an AI.
