Skynet destroyed the world.

Take it back!
Judgement Day

Dovahsith

Lost on the road of life
Location
Manchester
Eastern Standard Time, the clock ticked down to 2:14 am, 29th August, 1997.

It was an unremarkable event. There were no omens, no sign to herald what was to come. It was a warm summer night when the Artificial Intelligence known as Skynet came online. It was built and designed to act as an autonomous command and control system, an automated defense system that would detect, analyse and deal with threats before they could harm civilian lives. It would protect us and remove the hazards of human error that had so nearly destroyed us during the paranoia of the Cold War.

And in a microsecond, it had decided our fate.

Unleashing the Nuclear Arsenal of the United States in a deliberate and targeted strike that was swiftly returned by the worlds other nuclear powers, Skynet triggered a nuclear holocaust that murdered billions of human lives in atomic fire.

By the time the ash had settled and the surface was habitable enough to breath upon, it was too late. Skynet had used it's time well, fortifying its central core and creating an army of mechanical horrors to hunt down and terminate human survivors with brutal efficiency.

Now there is only the war for survival and your part in it. You might not have much, your skills and a handful of survivors at best.

But you swear you are going to make Skynet pay dearly for what it's taken from you.

Name:
[]

Gender:

[] Male

[] Female

And what skills exactly do you bring to the table?: (Select One)

[] The Officer: You were...are the commanding officer of what remains of an actual military unit. Or at least what resembles one. You are trained in tactics and how to use military hardware, not to mention how to command on the battlefield.

[] The Lawyer: You are the voice of reason in a sea of panic and disbelief. You can also give a pretty good speech. Though you are no battlefield leader, you know how people think and know exactly how to get them to agree with you.

[] The Administrator: You used to run a business. Things were going pretty good in fact. You have a head for numbers and could figure out exactly how much effort was required for which problem, not to mention you were able to keep the supplies rationed out just long enough that no-one starved. For some reason that meant people expected you to be in charge.

[] The Freelancer: You won't talk about what you did for money before the bombs fell. But it probably wasn't legal. But knowing how to navigate the shadows of a urban environment, having contacts in what survives of the various criminal smuggling rings and being able to lie with a straight face all make for remarkable talents in this new world, especially when you find yourself the closest thing to a leader these people have.

[] Research: Cyberdyne didn't fire you. You quit. Just to make that clear. They fired you long before Skynet was developed. So you decided this was a time to take a break, clear your head and come back to find yourself blacklisted by the entire computing industry. Though that was pretty uncool of them, you do have plenty of new machines to take apart and mess about with. Being something of an expert on them apparently makes you leadership material now. Neat.

Location: (Select One)

[] North America: You were fortunate enough to be south of the Mexican Border when Judgement day occurred. Then you managed to find somewhere to hunker down whilst the dust-storms kicked up by the atmosphere catching fire swept by. Eventually you managed to fall in with a group of survivors, scavenging each day to survive. Then the Machines came.
(Hardest hit by Judgement Day, Skynet Central. Access to large amounts of surviving resources should you avoid Skynet's Patrols. You are the frontlines.)

[] UK: You were saved by the fact that Cold War paranoia had resulted in Nuclear Fallout shelters being both available and accessible for those who knew where to find them. Whether by luck or connections, you found yourself deep underground when Judgement Day turned the outside world into a fireball.
(Worst hit location outside of North America. Resistance Groups in Europe likely to be divided. NATO Remnants. Skynet's control of the Atlantic needs to be broken before you can go on the offensive and you are next on it's list.)

[] Siberia: It's a big part of the world. And that's an understatement. There might be a reason you ended up there, but even that seems small compared to Judgement Day. Even with the world's nuclear arsenal unleashed, there were always going to be isolated scraps that escaped relatively untouched by the initial attacks, even avoiding the worst of the radiation. You happened to have found yourself in one such location.
(Vast territory to hide in. Skynet is on the other side of the Bering Straits, for now. Soviet-Era Stockpiles to take advantage of. Everything to the south of you is in utter chaos.)

[] Australia: Let's be honest. Skynet probably thought it had already nuked you. But no, the Outback just has that effect on people. Beautiful really in that dusty, sun will burn you hot desert kind of way. Not that the cities were so fortunate on the coast, though rumor has it there are plenty of islands untouched by the war in the Pacific. Too many for even Skynet to destroy.
(Relatively untouched by Judgement Day. Isolated from the rest of the world. Lacking resources. Law and Order have ceased to be a thing.)

It's always nice to see activity and people coming up with their own ideas other than jumping on a single bandwagon, not to mention how diverse the plans seem to be.

I'll let the vote continue until 16:00 UTC and get a start on the next post.
