We Are the Gods of a New World Order [Warhammer 50K ~ Warp God Simulator]

That sounds like they do the same thing? Is it double-risky to use both the Sorcery domain and the Sorcery On option for the same action?

Hmm, let me elaborate further.

"Sorcery as a Domain" is invoked with Favor when the action you're taking works nicely with it, and represents the VM empowering Sorcerous actions taken in support of that project, so that they get more bang for each little spell and ritual.

Sorcery the Effect is a toggle you can turn on or off for whatever. Which represents bringing in extra specialists who are authorized to use magic and have them do it for your sake. Sorcery the Domain happens when you need them to begin with, but the implication is that they're doing a lot of risk mitigation and only bringing in the best of the best instead of the merely good.

So speaking of space travel... how dangerous is it these days to travel through the warp and if our people are part of the chaos faction do they still need to use Gellar fields? I'd assume yes even if using a Gellar field would temporarily cut them off from us (would a Gellar field cut them off from us?) but with the 4 old gods dead I'm not sure if that would have calmed the warp down and while I think chaos factions can move through the warp easier then other factions were still a newborn as far as chaos goes so I don't know if we have any real weight to throw around in the warp beyond our planet so I don't know if we'd be able to shield them in the warp if they move to far away.

Right, but I was asking about the mechanical difference between the two effects, not the narrative difference. Was I right in my edited-in guess?
Edit: Wait, I think I get it now - Sorcery On removes the safeties and adds the double mechanic while Sorcery domain removes the safeties and adds the usual +10 bonus. I assume using both would therefor remove the safeties and add both the double mechanic and the +10 bonus?

Your Lotus Star Reactors are a brilliant idea! Unfortunately, nobody can create them without your help, because the're super complicated and apparently the magic you used isn't something your Ratosk can wrap their heads around. So clearly this means you should build a whole bunch of them and just leave them lying around for people to do something with!
Oh this is hilarious! Verdant Maiden - no sense of right and wrong!

but now she has cute ears and is shinier and has taken the time well!
>cute ears
Are these bunny ears or eldar ears?

Would make a pretty good sales pitch, tbh.
"Join us in venerating the Verdant Maiden! Blessings abound! Sign up now and receive a charming new pair of bunny ears!

It's a hell if a lot better than being infested by plagues, at least.

They're VM's ears, which is to say little triangle thingies that poke out a bit but aren't as long or as sharp as Eldar ears.

"Oh! Right! I saw that!" You whip your fan out. "Hohoho! I haven't tried to pop into the Tree yet, but there's no reason I can't project myself through it if I want to interact with anyone!"
Will say the color is off

The party seems fun and time to get ready to "Befriend" some guests.

So, if I'm not mistaken we have 5 heroic cultists now. In order of acquisition:

Dana has 3 actions (+Charity, +Preaching, no Infiltration)
Layla 2 (+Charity, +Kinetic, no Infiltration, no Preaching)
Niamh 1 (+Preaching, +Infiltration)
Elliot 1 (+Infiltration, +Charity, no Kinetic)
Amelia Mills 2 (+Kinetic, +Infiltration)

Total of 9 action slots.

edit: Layla no Preaching, thanks for the correction

census party and guests seems kinda essential. however If i had to guess Modernize your Dogma is probably one of the most important So I would be up for putting 2 hero actions on it along with the boost.
I do want to turn on sorcery on for one of these actions but im not sure which one. To get the most out of it we would use it on whichever action we put the most heros on atleast because those are the actions that would beniefts from going beyond mortal limit.
, a Phenomenon occurs, which modifies the final result in a method that ranges from being awkward to potentially life threatening
My take on this is as long as the roll was good (even if we roll doubles) It will just be awkward However I feel like breaking the mortal limits is worth it. However I believe we should only ever turn on sorcery (the toggle) for an action if we are getting at least +30 from mortal actions. In my opinion It isn't worth the risk lower than that.

I think we should only ever use sorcery, either domain or toggle, if there are enough bonuses to make critical failure (40 or more below the DC) impossible and there's a hero there to mitigate regular failure.

Also:
Layla 2 (+Charity, +Kinetic, no Infiltration)
Layla can't take preaching actions either:
Special Effect: Prudence (A combination of unsanctioned technical skills and sheer bravado have led this dimunitive captain a master of sailing craft when 'Sailing' can be defined in a distressing number of ways. Provides a bonus to Charity and Kinetic actions, cannot take Infiltration or Preaching actions.)

Strapping guns to a Leviathan was a nice idea at the time... But even with the new techniques, it's not actually very well designed for going pew-pew. You had a brilliant idea, watching some of the sea life do their thing. Armored light walkers, with reinforced shells, lots of guns, and the ability to jump around and reposition as needed. Sure they're not super fast and maybe not able to get everywhere you'd like, but they're still faster than Belladonnas and you can stick a really big gun on them if you can. This can't be a bad idea
I believe all five of these will get bonuses from manpower due to the Weavers of Life doctrine, though we'd probably need to use the Weaving domain for it to apply to the Guests action - @Alectai, is that correct?

Nice!
Now then, hopefully, it's Magus or Cavalier, but still better safe than sorry.

So I think these are what we - at minimum - should definitely use now, no matter what:

-Modernize your Dogma
-A Quiet Census!
-Make a Nice Place for guests!
-Stars Above and Beyond!
-Project: NOMAD Part One: Big Fish? Big belly!

And since we have 9 total actions
Dana has 3 actions (+Charity, +Preaching, no Infiltration)
-Modernize your Dogma + -Make a Nice Place for guests!
Layla 2 (+Charity, +Kinetic, no Infiltration)
-Stars Above and Beyond! + -Project: NOMAD Part One: Big Fish? Big belly!
Niamh 1 (+Preaching, +Infiltration)
-
Elliot 1 (+Infiltration, +Charity, no Kinetic)
-A Quiet Census!
Amelia Mills 2 (+Kinetic, +Infiltration)
-Project: NOMAD Part Two: Birds!

We have some (3) leftovers excluding non-Hero manpower, and I'm uncertain about "Party Time!". Maybe it's worth taking it?

Or we can nab the whole shebang? Dunno

I wonder if this means a Dark Heresy party is coming to town?
There are several possibilities:
  • Azure Magus coming back to loot psionic biotech from what she expects to be a purged world. We may be able to Ally with her, fulfilling one of our primary goals.
  • The Dragoons coming back on account of needing somewhere to hide after being a little too rebellious. Unlikely, but if it happens we might be able to recruit them.
  • The Publicani coming back with a resettlement contract for what he expects to be a starved-and-flayed-to-death colony. This will be trickier on account of the Obvious Warpy Heresy, but we might be able to bribe him with a massive amount of food. It's pretty unlikely though...
  • As you suggest, Inquisition investigators here to make sure we're gone. Converting them is absurdly unlikely, and we'll probably want to kill them so they don't cause damage and so the Dragoons don't get in trouble for not purging us. We'll need armed void craft for this - one look at what's happened to the Spire and they'll know they'll need a lot of force, so shooting them down before they either deploy dangerous levels of force or flee to obtain such force is best.
  • Non-Nightbringer Necrons - we're right next to Necrontyr territory, after all. Depending on how sane they are, we might be able to talk them into leaving us be. If we can't, then we may be in for a difficult fight - without the Flayer Virus to make them think they're alive, our Death domain is no longer super-effective.
  • Something else. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I wonder if this means a Dark Heresy party is coming to town?
Or Orks. They're cray-cray enough that even warp prophecies have problems following them.

+ + + + + + +
When we start going outside our planet, we should really explore and to extend settle (at least with bases or satellite structures) the WHOLE star system. We won't get Dyson Sphere around our star, but every single dustball in this system needs AT LEAST an autonomous system that immediately reports to us if something goes awry.

Oh, that reminds me, if it is possible (at all), we need to get in the least 3 domains:

-Sun, that guarantees nigh-infinite power and would make us 100% independent
-Weather, that might ease our ability to settle and terraform inhospitable celestial objects (like asteroids, moons, Mars'-and-up equivalents)
-{That Domain about Reincarnation Cycle}, so that we can ensure no one of our people truly dies or suffers.

Other "shinies" are depending on our discussions.

Here's my initial plan. I think it's spreading a bit thin, so we'll probably want to drop one of the Charity actions to bump up the chances of the others succeeding. I am assuming that we get Weaver doctrine boosts on the non-party charity actions, if we don't then we definitely need to drop something. This ends up with everything around effectively 60% success chance on each item, but with heroic mitigation on everything.

Sorcery only on the Party action since that's the only one I didn't put any Domain favor on.

So I made a plan. The gist of it is focusing heavily on social projects this turn to ensure we have 100% backing of the people. Note that Dana is everywhere where Maiden might be interacting with Maiden's Faithful. Because someone has to ride herd on the ditzy Goddess.

EDIT: assume Sorcery Off unless otherwise noted

I took @Faraway-R plan and added More sorcery on's where the mortal bonus is atleast +30 (where I think we get atleast +30 im not 100% sure when our manpower gives bonuses or not). So you should probably vote his if you want a steady low risk plan while this version is mid risk with high reward

Here's another possible plan, this time bringing everything except Modernize Dogma to 70% chance of success, that also does the Speak to the People! action. Every action has both a domain on it (chance for a miracle) and a hero on it (failure mitigation)

I do not think turning sorcery off on anything where we have a bonus of +30 or more makes any sense, actually, unless the DC is above 70.
Is Sorcery On that useful if we're putting a domain in? It's a miracle either way, are higher-valued 120+ miracles significantly better than 110 miracles?

It's good to be back, and it's good to be able to talk directly! Of course, your people want to actually go over what you have to say before you say it, which is very confusing! You're not sure what's going on but you'll take their word for it and do your best!
Mystery DC means stack bonuses like f*ck. But not sorcery - without knowing the DC, we won't know if Dana+Niamh+Connection+Sorcery will be enough to avoid a critfail - if the DC is higher than 80, even a +40 bonus won't be enough to save us.

Society has changed in some simply dizzying ways since you went to sleep! While the Dialogues did a great thing keeping everything all glued together until now, it is running into certain concerns regarding it never being written assuming the Cult was in charge of anything. Maybe see if you can nag someone to write a new edition? Or an addendum? Or maybe some new chapter or something? Gosh, this is all so complicated
I don't think we need to do this immediately, but it'd be a good way to use for our +Preaching heroines if they have actions left over. Sorcery is unneccessary - we don't need a miracle on this. The DC is a bit high, so we'll probably want to use the Connection domain if we do this.

Everything seems pretty okay! Everyone seems pretty happy! But there's a decent group of people who are less happy, you should make a point of finding out what's wrong so you can fix it!
This is a good idea. We don't need a miracle, so Connection isn't neccessary, but it'd be welcome if we can spare it, along with an +Infiltrate hero or two to increase success chances and mitigate failure.

Charity Actions

You're back! You're awake! What better way to celebrate than to throw a big party in Redwood City open for everyone! People'll love this, you're sure of it, especially if you make sure to provide some nice special effects for everyone!
A nice, easy way to improve morale. Stick a spare +Charity hero on it, maybe Connection or Elysium if we can spare a favor.

That is a very high DC. Fortunately, it looks like we'll get +20 from the two required Manpower tokens due to Weavers of Life doctrine, since this is a biotech project. Add both domains and a +Charity hero, and we'll only need to roll a 30 or better for full success, 50 or better for a miracle. Sorcery is unneccessary.

This is a very good idea. It really needs those domain bonuses though, so if we can't spare them it'd be better to wait.

If we use the Weaving domain, then biotech will likely be involved and we'll get +10 from the required Manpower due to Weavers of Life doctrine. We'll also want Elysium, and probably Earth. Add a +Charity hero for failure mitigation, and failure will be impossible if we apply 3 domains - even if we roll a 1, we'll still be in Partial Success range. 20 or higher will be a full success, and 50 or higher a miracle. Sorcery might not be neccessary, but if we apply all the other domains and a hero and we can spare it, well, might as well go for absurd overkill - this is our big External Diplomacy project, better make it awesome.

If we don't need to use manpower, then we won't get a bonus from Weavers of Life despite the biotech aspect. With a +Kinetic hero and two or three domains, that'll still give us relatively good odds for success.

Another domain-heavy action, this time benefiting from +10 due to Manpower + Weavers of Life. I'd advise only doing one domain-heavy action per turn, though.

This is probably the first step towards our tank equivalents. Again, +10 due to biotech and lots of applicable domains.

So, we have a couple of new systems now, the biggest of which of course is Sorcery. With that in mind, I made a plan that tests a couple of things, with the risk sifted where it shouldn't affect our civilian populance if things go wrong. Also, the moratorium is over:

[X] Plan Testing The Waters With A Splash!
-[X] Speak to the People! (DC ??)
--[X] Hero Unit: Dana (2 Uses Left)
--[X] Hero Unit: Niamh (0 Uses Left)
--[X] Sorcery Off (1)
--[X] Domains: Connection (5 Uses Left)
-[X] A Quiet Census! (DC 60) (1 Manpower)
--[X] Hero Unit: Amelia (1 Use Left)
--[X] Hero Unit: Elliot (0 Uses Left)
--[X] Manpower Token x1 (4 Uses Left)
--[X] Sorcery Off (2)
-[X] Party Time! (DC 50) (1 Manpower)
--[X] Hero Units: Dana (1 Use Left)
--[X] Manpower Token x1 (3 Uses Left)
--[X] Sorcery Off (3)
--[X] Domains: Connection, Elysium (3 Uses Left)
-[X] Make a Nice Place for guests! (DC 70) (1 Manpower)
--[X] Hero Unit: Dana (0 Uses Left)
--[X] Hero Unit: Layla (1 Use Left)
--[X] Manpower Token x1 (2 Uses Left)
--[X] Sorcery On (4)
-[X] Project: NOMAD Part One: Big Fish? Big belly! (DC 70) (Manpower cost waived by remaining Tokens)
--[X] Hero Units: Layla (0 Uses Left)
--[X] Hero Units: Amelia (0 Uses Left)
--[X] Manpower Token x2 (0 Uses Left)
--[X] Sorcery On (5)
--[X] Domains: Weaving, Sorcery, Endurance (0 Uses Left)

The most notable that making our guest-quarters would be a all-mortal effort without divine oversight with Domains, but instead allow them to test flexing that Sorcery muscle. With Project NOMAD, a combined Sorcery Domain and mortal Sorcery effort will lets us see how things will work out when you mix those two together, which will hopefully not blow up to our faces. But even if it does, it doesn't place as much risk on the civilians like boosting some of the more public actions with Sorcery. Besides, throwing enough effort into it raises the chances of a Miracle, and with Sorcery On even better Miracles with potentially higher final post-100-points results, which I think might give us even better things.

On the more non-Sorcery side, I think we should make the appearance, take the census and throw a party before we modernize the holy texts. That way if everything or even just most of it goes right, majority of people will be awed by the re-appearance of their god, feeling quite happy after the post-party, and we will have the list about any issues with some people have with us. And only then, we make the informed decision about what we say our people should do when they act in the Verdant Maiden's name.

EDIT: Some vote-tally-recognition-changes were made, no chages to the actual plan.
