On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

Yeah, hard disagree on that one. Defense in Depth must always take highest priority.

So you'd switch the Griffon king armour to the turn after?

agree, i'd rather us be defended against the razorblade dragon that lives beneath our home than making armour this turn. next turn is fine to do that

I rather imagine that if there's a Razorblade dragon running around the King of the skies is going to be needed to kill it any way, the armour is therefore directly empowering one of the agents most likely to be involved in its destruction.

No, I'd finish the DiD this turn with Brynna's help.

Edit: I misread your plan, I think that's what you meant anyways. But yeah, DiD first. Also, genuinely unsure if KotS's could even fit below the earth. A lot of his power is sky-based too - snow and lightning.

I liked the POV of our new apprentices, Karstah meeting us remind me of when we met Grimnir for the first time, living in this era with all these legendary characters, it is easy to forget that we have already taken the first steps in building our own legend too.

Not knowing much about warhammer, I feared Skaven too, the new beastie is.. best ? From the wiki link it sound awful, and really hard to take down.

So much to do, not so much little time but well.

Last step needed for the armor to the King of the Skies so that's that, but then we will probably need to do the same for the two princes soon enough, and we need to upgrade our gear too, I suppose T2 should not be that bad ? But well, maybe it's because everything we made was T3/T4, I would prefer if we at least had a better armor, Otrek level if not better, and one weapon, hammer or axe of that level would be a boost too, I don't think the fight we will get into will get easier...

And the research. Suneater's brain is not urgent (seeing the time we need for the heart..) but some material research should be done sooner rather than later.

In the short term, Spring Water should probably the most useful being already used to heal so many dwarfs, could probably help the reclamation of the North, the less death or even wounded we have the better. In the same vein Durazkul could be a nice boost too.
I am also highly curious about the Odd Horns. I have no idea what it could be, but didn't we find them with a nat100 ? Would be hilarious (embarrassing) if it was a T4 (dare I say a T5?) in our vault, sitting around collecting dust.

In the long term Hearthstones and Silverwood, mainly Hearthstones just because Valaya seemed interested in it..

I don't know what to do first for the other researchs. It will depend of what everyone agree to do first I guess, If we want to go for the golem, The Movement of Things is essential, a go at The Mind of Things would not hurt either.
Personally I am more interested in Valaya's Runes & Gromril Chainmaille, gifts from the ancestors, no way in hell it will not be helpful.

I don't know much about Understand a Master Rune, I though it will "boost" the rune in some way, but from what I recall reading in the thread, it is just to be able to use it in another "class", like using a weapon rune on a banner. It could still be useful, but well, 16 actions ? It will be a while before we can do it.

Could it be a nest of or one very large Dread Maw considering how close we technically are to Chaos Waste? I assume other dwarf holds have dealt with them before that are in the wastes area alongside other hostile underway wildlife.

I mean, I WANT to do his armor immediately, but...I don't see why he'd go below ground where his room to maneuver is limited to fight unless the situation was dire.

yeah putting the massive griffon who controls the air and lighting underground doesn't really work that well.
i say finish the smelter and DID this turn then the KoTS armour next turn

If we want to reduce the research backlog why are we doing odd places?
Every action so far has added more stuff to do...
Odd places isn't actually having any influence on anything. Beyond giving materials to research.

A lot of discussion has been on the "Heart", Armour, or rune research. Material research is a backlog unlikely to be touched in the near future. Just look at your own comment going "why are we looking for materials? we should never look for materials until the research backlog is complete! By which I mean the rune research that can never end, or maybe I'm being vague on purpose to confuse people into going after material research."

Odd places got taken last turn because it was part of the plan that won, and it was the only plan that involved not using the "heart".

I just hope the armor for the griffon will not turn out like what the players chose to do for the engineers. Delay a commission for player amusement and security.

No, I'd finish the DiD this turn with Brynna's help.
This is the only option for us - we can finish Defense in Depth this turn and it is the only valid option regarding the new threat. The Sky King armour is a longterm project and not urgent, especially if one considers that the current threat will require fighting underground, not something the Griffions can help us with. The smelter on the other hand has a deadline and one action locked in, not adding one additional action to activate our productivity trait would waste one action.

The voidstones where the crit result. The horns where an 80 or something.

@soulcake Could you add this to the project to choose from?

[ ] [Difficult] Write in, Ymir, The Gronti In Tribute To Grimnir Pt. 1: Grimnir is gone. "Remember this day lad. Not the saga, nor the glory that comes from it, but the feeling of flesh failing and armour breaking. Of spending every last piece of yourself and then spending beyond even that. Of using nothing but your Will to keep going, because the alternative means all you care about crumbles around you. Fight and live well, and die for something even better than that," to your mind comes his final words, he certainly lived up to them. Few will to such an extent, including even you, but you could create something that would be able to, couldn't you? A tribute in his image, his philosophy, and his final words that he gave to you. Whose flesh will sooner break then fail; Whose willing to endlessly spend beyond even that; Whose never going to falter and will always endure, even if success means crumbling to pieces; Who will fight and live well, and die for something better than that. A gronti forged from Adamant, but still a Dawi born from stone.

Should we really be delaying the Sky King's armor? He's been waiting for nearly a century if not more for it.
In total about a century, but we only took the favor a little while ago, and I'd rather not just do it with two actions simply to get it done because of time constraints especially when he's uh. Going to be limited below ground if he has to fight.

E: Plus I agree to a certain degree and think we should not delay it to turn 25, it needs to be done turn 24 in my mind.

I admit I really, really want to do the King's armor soon. It's worked out so damn well between a combo and reagents at hand.

[X] Plan Noperope Begone
-[X] Aid: Nai, Gain: +2 Progress to Defence. In. Depth Pt. 4, if completed then she will add progress to another task in the hold. The work must be done, and you will admit you've been caught in nothing but your Gruntaz at this juncture. You'll gladly accept her aid.
-[X] Teach your apprentices. [Cost: 1 Action] Locked in for 12 turns.
-[X] [Simple] Defence. In. Depth. Pt. 4: [Cost: 4 actions] Productivity Like no Other will proc. There's now a system of tunnels beneath the hold, the foul creation of a Shard Wyrm that has so far been silently patrolling beneath Kraka Drakk for reasons you are not entirely sure of. Whatever the case the beasts are no friend of your people, new species or no, and this one will have to be dealt with the old fashioned way. The other Runelords are well on their way of contributing, but they've made a, perhaps unconscious, decision to leave the tunnels solely to you to turn into a deathtrap for any beastie that dares rear its head here once more. 2 Actions.
-[X] [Simple] A Better Smelter: [Cost: (6 -3) = 3 actions, x1 Voidstone] Productivity Like no Other will proc. Due in 3 Turns. 1 action locked in, more can be added. You and the Brotherhood have agreed to share information and knowledge in the creation of a new, larger Furnace array. The completed smelter will be for your use, seeing as you're using your own voidstone for the job, and the Brotherhood will disseminate this new design to their members. Many eagerly await the chance to use the Voidstone they've managed to find. +1 Extra Action.

So the point of this one is to make sure we have both something ready to go if Lorna's warning talismans say its coming, and to smack it around if it pokes its head in. It also cleans up the smelter so that we have four actions next turn. And this turn is the earliest we can finish the smelter, and the earlier we do it the more Adamant and more Actions we have on hand for longer.

In terms of the King's armor, he's a flying being whose powers of storm are not exactly well suited to cavern fighting and the Griffons are being talked to to help pick up the surface slack going by what Otrek said so I think he's going to be busy helping out the Reclamation. Doing it on turn 24 makes the most sense to me given what we're dealing with.

King of the Sky should definitely be able to fit/fight in the tunnels considering how big the dwarves build them, though his weather control would likely be limited.
Armor wise 3 actions + 2 bonus should be plenty overflow-wise. It's enough to give us a clear boost over just the base 3 actions without risking wastage, and it leaves us 1 action free for whatever. Probably the tubers if we can get the other 3 actions via Favour.
