If we just grind stats over and over but have no resources to apply said stats, we will be like a child genius that grows up to become an average joe.
And we'll have no friends and probably smell bad too.
This is not "grinding stats"- note that the actions will increase his stats, but also have possible interactions with others. Such as learning about stewardship, which we need to know to gain resources. Also, the ability to gain resources will depend on rolls affected by his statistics.
His ability to get friends also, save for some actions, will be affected by stats. Note: I am not saying don't socialize. I am saying choose a few after doing the groundwork (which my plan does). And choose carefully.
And what if we want Loki to have a good life, not to be the best of his abilities?
Not mutually exclusive. Unless you equate "a good life" with being popular with everyone, but basically a useless individual skill wise.
Lets not fall into the socialization is bad thing idea again, the only thing is just don't cast the net too wide, thats it because something will fall to the side, but we should try and have some strong friends like no more than 3 probably, and then keep amicable family relationships, and some mentor-based connections. Treating socialization as a bad thing is a very poor choice and will just develop Loki into an unenjoyable character, most likely.
I never said that we should ignore socialization. I agree that it should be targeted and pursued when it doesn't conflict with improving ourselves. I am just pointing out that, last quest, all of our attempts at being popular were for naught as characters pursued their own goals and, when Loki didn't fall lock step behind them, they all turned their back on him. So, we can only depend on Loki in the end.
But, one or two close relationships (maybe three) makes sense. But, we need to have Loki himself be as solid as he can be. But, my plan does not ignore socialization.
It just lays the groundwork for learning who to target for close relations. And makes him as skilled as he can be at the same time.
