Alright, I think we should all take a step back. This started as a general plan for Loki's future, but now people are getting into way too much detail.

Everything that you all are discussing probably won't happen anyway...

Just but binding magic on it and change what it binds. Also gods or interdimensional beings might exist still just that the mechanic to become one is missing. Or we could make it that anyone who calls themselves a God can be sealed by it.
...Are those ones considered a race? Because...well...Race Changing Machine.

I'm surprised the though only occured to me now.

Having a set focus and a plan is not a negative- even if that plan is seeking to help Loki become an intellect. Do we want Loki to be able to become a technological genius and magic genius? We should start early as these turns are his "golden time" for development. No growth period, but still important as every point here is worth 2 later. Also, early on, any improvement can help later rapid improvement since it improves the chances of trying actions.

Do you want to be able to do more complicated social/martial/learning actions? You need to start building a base now.

As to going social- we should not go too deeply into that. We learned last quest the perils of socialization and how they can turn against Loki fairly quickly. Don't ignore it- note that my plan is setting the groundwork to know who is in our class and, perhaps, find someone we can befriend.

But not all in, and not at the expense of Loki potentially learning something or developing his own skills. At the end of the day, as we learned last quest, Loki can only really rely on himself (and Freya).

I'm assuming that the growth rate is the same.

Let's say we go to the library to study at the age of 8. We roll 90 and get +1 learning. This will become +2 upon adulthood.

But, I'm also assuming that if we went to the library at the age of 400 and rolled 90, we would simply get +2 learning instead of +1, considering the turns become decades long when we are an adult.

Then there is the biggest problem. We don't want to make child soldiers. The End.

I am assuming the growth rate is also the same. But, assuming your hypo, taking a +1 at age 5 means that Loki gets at least 2 rolls of +1 between now and age 8 (3 inclusive). Let's assume he gets a +1 at ages 6 and 7. That is a +2 roll then a +3 roll. Small, but significant increases. Its a journey.

As to the "child soldier" thing- I know that some people like to throw that label around as a rhetorical way of denigrating other plans.

But, really, this plan isn't too much different from what lots of children in high-achievement families/cultures do. "He's only 5" is a bit of an artifact from a time when there wasn't as much international competition and competition within the country wasn't so fierce for college and jobs.

Its a red queen race now, and if we want Loki to become the best of his abilities- we need to start soon.

If we just grind stats over and over but have no resources to apply said stats, we will be like a child genius that grows up to become an average joe.

And we'll have no friends and probably smell bad too.

Lets not fall into the socialization is bad thing idea again, the only thing is just don't cast the net too wide, thats it because something will fall to the side, but we should try and have some strong friends like no more than 3 probably, and then keep amicable family relationships, and some mentor-based connections. Treating socialization as a bad thing is a very poor choice and will just develop Loki into an unenjoyable character, most likely.

I don't think that is what he is saying at all. I think he meant not to rush it. Sure you can start it. Like personal actions and diplo actions but for everything else Loki should train. I don't want him to become the class clown that when he grows up he finds he isn't good at anything.

This is not "grinding stats"- note that the actions will increase his stats, but also have possible interactions with others. Such as learning about stewardship, which we need to know to gain resources. Also, the ability to gain resources will depend on rolls affected by his statistics.

His ability to get friends also, save for some actions, will be affected by stats. Note: I am not saying don't socialize. I am saying choose a few after doing the groundwork (which my plan does). And choose carefully.

And what if we want Loki to have a good life, not to be the best of his abilities?

Not mutually exclusive. Unless you equate "a good life" with being popular with everyone, but basically a useless individual skill wise.

I never said that we should ignore socialization. I agree that it should be targeted and pursued when it doesn't conflict with improving ourselves. I am just pointing out that, last quest, all of our attempts at being popular were for naught as characters pursued their own goals and, when Loki didn't fall lock step behind them, they all turned their back on him. So, we can only depend on Loki in the end.

But, one or two close relationships (maybe three) makes sense. But, we need to have Loki himself be as solid as he can be. But, my plan does not ignore socialization.

It just lays the groundwork for learning who to target for close relations. And makes him as skilled as he can be at the same time.

You know looking back I'm really surprised the previous Loki didn't end up even more jealous of Thor than the mcu version, other than maybe Hogun and Lorelei everyone of Loki's childhood friends chose Thor over him.

Why would Loki be jealous when he had Hela?

Well, to be more accurate, when Hela had him.

Wow that is hella fragmented...

Anyways! Spear-fighting and Martial-Arts-Y videos!

While not a movie this one is still staged, yet it shows the sort of grace and body awareness I'd like to see Loki develop:

Why hand-to-hand in and of itself is great:

You know what Asgard has a lot of? Booze. You know what goes great with Booze? Drunken Boxing.
