Oh, I see no scenario where we will be thrown to the wolves. However, that doesn't meant that the higher-ups of the grey order can't be disappointed with us and won't make their disappointment known and felt.
Eh... I don't see it. We provided the initial intel, we had good reason to believe it was accurate (the infighting at K8P), and if they moved on it without getting confirmation first then frankly they deserve to blame themselves. Plus, 'botched attack' says to me that the problem was with the attack, not the intel that led to it; if that was the case I'd expect the attack to be referred to as 'misguided' or 'misdirected' or 'a Skaven trap' or something. And if the information is good but the way it's used is bad or goes wrong, then blaming the one who provided it seems a bit strange.

You know, there are also alternative explanations.

For example, the kind of force buildup necessary to cleanse a skaven under-city can't be exactly quiet. At least, not without some superlative efforts.
So, maybe the intel was good, but the skaven rolled good on their patrols and information gathering, and Empire just rolled comparatively badly on the secrecy, resulting them in walking into if not an ambush, then at least prepared positions.

I'm not really concerned about getting blamed for it, if it turns out there was bad intel. I'm concerned about the consequences to the ongoing struggle against the skaven and what it means about Qrech.

That said, I think the smart money is on "it was a failure of execution, not a failure of intel." We'll find out soon enough, I suppose.

Entirely possible, and unfortunate if it is the case.

Also, can I just say how annoying it is to repeatedly get told my message is too short because I'm writing in spoilers?

we don't know if everything ended poorly, just that the attack on the nulin undercity went bad. But we'll see what happened.

When we write a paper on tongs, we need to give credit where its due.

Nagash and Frederick VanHel better get a mention in the bibliography.
