Im leaning towards popping into the velvet room real quick to greet Igor.

And I do wonder if we get an assistant too.

I have no idea what Igor or the Velvet Room are from, so someone will have to explain what you mean by assistant. Cause I don't think a normal secretary or aide would be enough to help Homura out with everything.

Igor's from the Persona Series and is sort of in charge of power up your Not!Stand, the Personas. The Velvet Room is this isolated space that the protagonists of the Persona Series are able to access. The Velvet Room normally has an Assistant unique to the protags of Persona (I think post Persona 2) that acts as their sidequest board to get better rewards. Also they're the Super Hard Hidden Bosses that have all the busted abilities in the game.

That was a very emotional happen.

Regarding our schedule- with the change in Sunday-ness, what's happened with the meeting over the grandfather clock? That should be dealt with before it falls off the map again....

I've gone back over the quest, and filled in a Google calendar with all the events that have happened, plus the future events that we either know of from canon (stolen from Higure's calendar), or have been scheduled in-quest (or at least the ones I noticed).

It requires manually clicking back to 2011, though, because Google doesn't see fit to provide a direct access date or search function for its public calendars. If you set it for weekly view, you can see the full event listing (but don't use that for scanning back in time; use by-month). I tried to include more details that you can see in the description of each event, if you click on them. Calendar

If there's a way to merge it with the quest calendar, and there's anything I can do on that front, let me know. I don't mess much with Google's apps.

Thank you. I'll look into it, but I don't think merging will work, sadly.

I think having to manually click back was why I tried the other calendar system instead of google. At this point, though...just clicking back might be best.

...Yeah, 1 vote isn't going to cut it for an update.

[x][Next]Look for the Velvet Room (You should find it easily.)

We've made some headway on this haven't we? Might be worth asking for some clues or poking for information...

OK, we just told Madoka everything. Just sitting around at home. We've now discovered that Madoka is Azumi, so pursuing her in SAO is meaningless. We can still play a bit if we just want to kill time, but is there anything else notable we wanted to get done?

Nanoha's in hiding. Ruki wants to be alone. Had a chat with Mami. Probably visit people tomorrow, since we already have a couple meetings (Kyuubey, and regarding the grandfather clock). That would include Yuuko (and I still have no clue what to ask her for).

We've already encountered everything from the rumors in the ice cream shop, other than Matoko's rose garden (presumably the girl who will eventually become Gertrud). Mami finds Gertrud this Saturday (6 days from now). She might conceivably still be alive. Do we want to try to find her? We're already juggling a lot of traumatized magical girls.

We can study. We always need to study. (Could train Detective Work by tracking Gertrude down?) Research; Development; Magical Theory; Medical. What books do we have available? ... Hm. Have a spare medical book on... CPR? I don't think Homura can safely practice that with Madoka around. >.> Well, it's basic first aid, too, so maybe. It feels like something that could be completed this evening.

Was there something we were supposed to learn in SAO?

Meh, let's have a little fun.

[X][Madoka] Ask if Madoka will help you study some.
-[X] If both explode from blushing from the idea of practicing CPR, instead suggest tracking down a mysterious gardener that Homura had heard of the other day. Just need the deerstalker hat...
[X][Next] Study medicine
-[X][Next] Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED. 5th Ed. Jeff Rendall. [Amateur | Medical]
[X][Next] Alternatively, dust off your detective skills and try to find the rose gardener Matoko

I think I'll go with this. My only other idea was finding the Velvet Room to try and get more info out of Igor, since he seems to know what's going on around here better than we do. But upping our skills is also important, if not more so for this loop. As for what we could ask Yuuko about, I'd think perhaps if we haven't figured out a way to do so by a week before Walpurgisnacht, we should ask her about a means of bringing people with us through loops. As valuable as Momento!Meguca are, there's only so much help they can be when they have to share our body with us Birdy the Mighty style. Being able to bring the other girls back in the same way Homura brings herself back would be even more invaluable.

Good plan. I don't really see much of a point of finding Igor at this point, we only saw him just the night before and I don't think things really changed enough to force a meeting now?

That would include Yuuko (and I still have no clue what to ask her for)
Sit down and talk to her about how she does her wish granting. OoC we know she gives people what they need as opposed to Kyuuby who gives people what they ask for and that she tries to rules-lawyer the price where she can.

Medical is... a bit of a sink actually. I think it was something like 65 or 70 that we need to operate on our heart right now? High-end professional/low-end legendary levels of skill. Books don't go that high.

I said this earlier and got an Insightful from Higure, and I'm pretty sure it was about this bit, but Research is... let me go find that post actually.
Kind of. I was checking up on our skill level and we have one 5 use book for Journeyman (26-49) medical book and... I think our Skill need to be like High end profession/low end legendary (75~) to work on our heart. I know Higure's answered that one a few times, but I never remember the answer.

Another useful one might be Research Skill actually? I'm not sure what that one's for, but it sounds like its about organizing data which could make Studying easier in general? Or more effective anyway?

Magical Theory is always there as well, but that one especially might need Research. Or Mami.
I think Research is one of those long-term bonuses.

Took a bit of digging, but I did manage to find one reference to what was needed (and it was in response to one of your posts):
You need to get your medical skills up to treat your heart condition. Books are one way to do that.
Do we have a goal to reach for how high we need to get it or is it just left at "Higher than you have it right now"?
It's vague for now, but I'll say that 50 is a minimum.

And more digging says... 50 is minimum value for Professional. And I didn't remember that scaling chart even existing (it was only posted in February last year). And, annoyingly, it says that books can only improve skill if you're in their category range. The CPR/First Aid book is Amateur level, while Homura has hit Journeyman in Medical (currently at 26, the exact minimum for Journeyman). That means that, even though the CPR/First Aid book is listed at 0/2 uses, it might not actually be able to give us any skill. I don't know if training with someone alters that, though.

But now we're very tied.

No, the tally engine is just being weird and uncooperative. If you look at the first and third positions, they're identical. I don't know why it decides that some apparently identical posts are different, but sometimes it does. 🤷

Huh. I remembered it being higher for some reason. Although that's also 50 minimum which may make a bit of a difference. Might also need Magical Theory to support it.

And yeah, I'm fairly sure books lower than our tier level just flat out don't help, another thing I'm half remembering but am less sure if Higure actually commented upon. Might give a bit of a bonus to that specific action? ... Eh. Really not sure on that.

You consider it, then shake your head, "Nothing jumps to mind. I'll let you know if something comes up I need you to look into, though." She looks a bit down at your words, eager to be helpful and afraid of being useless, and you quickly jump in to offer her something--not a long term objective to pursue, like she'd hoped for, but an immediate task to assist you on. "I could use some help with some studies, though--I'm hoping to fix my heart this loop, and I've been reading up on medicine."

You dig through your bag, looking for a book to study from as you go on, "I've got a book right here. I think it should be--" You pull it out, and stare at the title, blushing slightly. Madoka steps around to look, "Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED?" Your face burns as the blush deepens. It's not that you've never kissed her--there were loops where you tried that kind of relationship, hoping to convince her to put you ahead of the city, to run away from Walpurgisnacht with you (not that it ever worked). She's the center of your world, even now, and those were good days, but you were never quite comfortable with it.

It was a strange experience. You don't know if it was all the years, or the trauma, or maybe some side effect of your poor health, but it hadn't been what you'd expected. Not a grand romance, or the kind of love you'd read about. Love, certainly, and far more than love for a friend, but not the kind of thing you'd expected to feel, being a 14 year old girl. Maybe, if you ever get out of this loop, and your body finally ages, that will change. You don't know.

No matter what had happened before, though, this kind of stuff was always embarrassing. What if she thought you were just using this as an excuse? Would she be angry?

Your worries are cut off by a stifled laugh, presumably at your expression, "Wehi--um, don't worry, Homura, I know CPR already. It's nothing to feel awkward about." Your blush apparently deepens as your embarrassment rises, because she giggles, "Maybe not today, then? Do you have anything else in mind?"

You heave a sigh of relief at the offered out. You really don't want to deal with that issue right this moment; you already know most of the book's contents anyway--the only thing to gain would be practical experience, at this point.

You change course to something less stressful, "I heard about a rose garden on my first day in this loop, owned by someone named Matoko. It may not be anything, but there's a Rose Garden Witch that appears in almost every loop. I would like to look into that, in case she's one of the Arcana."

Madoka purses her lips, raising a finger to them, "Hmm...Matoko...the name doesn't ring a bell, but I'd bet we can find her if we ask around about rose gardens. Where did you hear the name?"

"The ice cream parlor. I don't know if we can pick up the lead there, though."

She nods, staring off in contemplation, "If it was a big deal at all, it may be listed online as part of a competition or something." She begins typing furiously at her laptop, and you step around to watch as she searches through a number of local sites you're not familiar with--starting with a number of gardening-oriented businesses, where she seems to be looking for advertisements for contests and customer reviews, probably trying to find anything mentioning a "Matoko."

"Alright, I haven't seen her name mentioned here, but there is a rose garden contest--it actually mentions the Mikuni family here. Are you sure she isn't the Rose Garden Witch?"

You shake your head, "No, that Witch appears no matter what happens to Oriko. They're not one and the same."

"I'm glad. It would be sad, if Mikuni-san Witched in so many timelines. She seems like a really good person, from what you said."

You're really not sure you agree with that, so you merely shrug.

"I think we should contact If her family is also part of the contest, she might know Matoko."

"Do we have to? You have names, right?"

She raises her finger to the screen, pointing at a long list of names, "There's a Matoko family listed here. It does not list their address or tell us anything more about the families, and Matoko's a common name. Only someone involved in the event would know if there's a potential magical girl in one of the families..."

"...and Oriko's involved. Alright, I'll contact her."

'Yes, Akagi Matoko is of the correct age and disposition to become a Magical Girl. I have texted you her address.'

You groan, and only send a begrudging response after a few moments of silence, 'Thank you.'

You pull out your phone and find Akagi Matoko's name and address listed on it, "She had the address. Let's go." You make sure to include Madoka, to let her know she's more than just a researcher for you, and that you want her along.

She smiles brightly, closing her laptop quickly, "Alright, let's go then! Where's the address?"

You show her, and she nods, "Alright, that's a bit far away. Dad can drive us, if you want?"

You consider it--a car ride would be quicker, but Tomohisa might get in the way.
It will be easier to roof hop.

"I've got a better idea." You answer, smiling slyly.

Madoka, already packing her notes and laptop into her bag, looks up at you with wide eyes.

Minutes later, you're jumping from roof to roof with Madoka in your arms, the pinkette clinging tightly onto you, blushing the whole way.

It's suitable payback for laughing about the CPR, you think.

"Umm...take a left here!" She orders adorably, and you quickly obey, trusting her to navigate using her phone.

"It should be just...ahead..." She trails off, wide-eyed as she looks down from the building you landed on and into what remains of a rose garden. The bushes are torn up, and you can still see fallen rose petals scattered here and there, trodden over and dirty.

There's a middle-aged man sitting on one of the garden's benches, staring numbly at all the ruined garden.

In particular, his gaze is focused upon the monument in the center.

"Oh no..." Madoka says, voice trembling slightly. Below, the man stands, sighing heavily, and head back inside.

You sigh, looking down at the gravestone. The girl might not actually be dead--Magical Girls "go missing" often enough--but it doesn't look good. If she is one of the Arcana, you need to find out everything you can.

You just need to figure out how to go about it.

I'm leaning towards this for a start. It's easier than meeting her family first and can help us glean more information about Matoko if we end up having to. It might also jog a few of Homura's memories, if she's really an Arcana Meguca. Now to figure out how to go about investigating.

Maybe Madoka has an idea? :V

Just a note that time hasn't changed since the previous update.

Anyway, we see a monument/gravestone in the middle of the garden. That can't possibly be for the girl herself (timeline wouldn't allow it). I might believe a gravestone for her mother or something similar, and that her gardening was sort of in honor of her mother.

Anyway, her roses were "finally" blooming well at the time of the rumor (presumably after a wish), but something catastrophic seems to have occurred recently (loss at the competition?), where she trashed the garden, and is probably off breaking down like Sayaka often does. That would imply a narrow window of opportunity, here.

As for the garden vs the family, we need to check both, obviously.

[X] Investigate the garden.
-[X] Examine monument. Determine who the gravestone is for.
-[X] Examine damage to the rose bushes. Does it look like a tantrum, or is there the possibility of an outside attack, like what happened at Mami's apartment?
-[X] Is there any trail of damage leading out of the garden?
-[X] Be careful about being noticed by anyone inside, before you're ready to approach the family.

[X] Talk to her family.
-[X] Let Madoka take the lead position. Play Moemura, deeply concerned about a friend, but who had to get dragged along by Madoka in order to actually come visit.
-[X] Try to gain information on Akagi's behavior (left due to an argument? hostile to parents? angry at competition results? unstable personality?), and any ideas on where she might hide to recover.
