[X] Report: Scouting went as well as could be expected, and I took the liberty of indulging in some sabotage while I was at it. You've already seen my work on the goblin launchers, but I also managed to confirm the Hall of Oaths remained sealed, and got eyes inside the Hall of the Moon. Things there were... Troubling--the Crooked Moon Goblins seem to have an alliance of convenience with at least one group of Skaven, and had prepared a large number of some kind of rat beasts for us. I took the liberty of putting a bullet in the Goblin commander's skull while wearing the illusion of being a Skaven--and the warpstone the Goblin had for teeth blew up when I shot him and wounded the Skaven he was negotating with as an added bonus--but things were a bit too hot to stay put and confirm more than the start of infighting--all I can tell you is that the Goblins there are significantly faster and more determined than they probably should be, and it's something that should be taken into account. Beyond that? I made my way to the King's Gates to see if there was anything I could do to ease the approach, found they had a nasty trap prepared in the form of a false floor with a herd of trolls hidden beneath just past their bolt throwers. I took the liberty of releasing the trolls on them, and they were in the middle of a nasty riot by the time I made good my escape.

Well us needing to not to be fucked with by the enemy to Ress is a bit of a dampener.

[X] EVA-Saiyajin

Quick and throughly informative.

We really could use better armor, tho.
Magic 8 upgrades us to +3.

...I forgot how many spells we need to learn to get a +1 to magic stat, but that aside there is also always a possibility of getting that one arcane mark that was ruled to do the same.

It still could be intentionally triggered before we need an actual res, which is worse for wound efficiency, but still is an absolute mountain of ablative wounds.

A substantially bad rolls will effectively kill us like it killed Van Hall, but we are still far more resistant to slow accumulation of wounds.

-[X] Goblin launchers on peak damaged.
-[X] Hall of Oaths remained sealed
-[X] The Crooked Moon Goblins in Hall of the Moon seem to have an alliance of convenience with rat people. They have a large number rat beasts.
--[X] Goblin commander killed under illusion of Skaven, and rat-man they negotiated with blinded. There is chance it will break their cooperation, but problems with disengaging may allow goblins to put things together.
-[X] King's Gates goblins distracted by releasing a trolls hidden just past their bolt throwers.

Wait, really? I tried to find the formula, but couldn't do it. Does 10 put us at 2+, then?

And learning all spells of a given tier raises it by 1, so Magic 9 is a matter of time.

I'm betting The Book gives +1 or more.

See previous summary of ways to increase our Magic score. We'd have to finish the standard Grey Magic spellbook to do so that way, and there is no Arcane Mark that will do it for us.

It doesn't have an exact formula. It's very roughly magic rating = RPG armour rating and then I find the equivalent in the tabletop rules.

Edit: wait, no, that was before I tweaked the magic system. Let me dig through my notes, I've got it here somewhere.

Re: armor
Really? Do you have a source? If it is true, it is incredible.
Re: magic
IIRC, it was reworked couple of times, but it is more or less +1 magic per 7 spells now, regardless of tier. So first +1 is not very hard, but second would require learning nearly all battle magic.

Yes. That said, I am running on memory, and QM already wrote a post that puts casts that in doubt.

Magic 10 is also kind of very hard to reach, even if that one Arcane Mark gave +1 to magic, which it apparently does not. Magic 9 is probably the effective softcap and road from magic 8 to 9 will be loooooong unless silly stuff happens.

I'm betting The Book gives +1 or more.
It possibly could, but QM made it quite clear than unless Mathilde has enough rep to be seen as Great Hero-like saintly figure who can't do any wrong, consequences for publically using even adapted-to-Ulgu stuff from Liber Mortis will be catastrophic.

Maybe not even then. Alas, all this kind of cooled my enthusiasm for trying to find tricks applicable to Ulgu in that book.

Remind me, does that include Battle Magic, or "merely" finishing the standard list?I had been wondering and looking for it for a couple of days, now.

Seven remaining spells of normal spellbook will give us +1. Seven spells of battle magic will give us another +1. First is quite doable, second not so much (at least not soon). It was +1 magic per complete tier of spells, but then Mathilde's magic progressed due to traits and she started learning spells of different tiers and @BoneyM reworked the system and declared that it was +1 per 6-7 spells (same total increase, but more flexible). We got last +1 on turn 18 and we need another 7 for next.

Can you confirm Boney? I had this clear image of +1 magic per finished spell tier, and it neatly made the average Magister Magic 6.

6+: 1-2
5+: 3-5
4+: 6-7
3+: 8-9
2+: 10-11
1+: 12+

Keep in mind armour value is reduced by enemy strength, and 1 is always a failure.

It was the equivalent of a tier's worth of spells, and there were twenty spells above Lesser, so once you finished off the Petty and Lesser magics it was 7/6/7.

Doesn't a stave give +1 magic? and presumably there will be a grey college stave maker guy when we get back especially since giving one to new magisters sounded like it was common practice.

Boo, and here I thought we could enchant Abe's hat!

WHFB wizards can cast in armor, right?

So, if it's +1 Magic for every 7 colored spells, the very next spell we learn will tip us over, as we are at 13/20.

Then we will need to finish the Spellbook, and either learn Battle Magic or dig up/create another Grey spell, right?

No, we just got last +1 with 6 spells on turn 18 (we already got +2 magic from those 13 spells, not +1). We need full 7 for next +1.
Can someone point me to the arcane mark discussion? As I understand it people are talking about channeling +10% from WFRP and whether or not it translates in +1 magic?

I meant by reading it, not using it.
This really looks like the same thing to me tho. Integrating the methods and recieving insights from Liber Mortis to the point where it actually provides us benefits to magic score will probably be enough to potentially trigger Bad Stuff.

I get why you'd think that it wouldn't, but that sounds a little bit optimistic to me. Maybe it is possibly to fish out some minor learning bonus from it that way, but not a +1 Magic trait.

I don't really remember, tbh. I'll try to fish out the WoG, but my track record with finding lost WoGs so far been pretty bad.
Wasn't Magic 11 and etc out of scope for this system? Or just impossible for anyone who is not an uberlich sitting on a giant warpstone pyramid or otherwise ascended into something not really human anymore?
