I would much rather report that we discovered a Skaven – Goblin negotiation and got them to start killing each other than that we discovered a Skaven – Goblin negotiation and just let it happen.

I highly doubt they're going to hold it against us if we mention not doing anything to a deal between a goblin and a skaven occurring in a room swarming with thousands of goblins.

Looks like votes are mostly dried up.

Many people talk about the winning vote as if it's just a mediocre chance at breaking an alliance. In my eyes this would be a success even if every single Goblin is aware that a human assassinated their leader because, well, we managed to assassinate their leader. The slight chance of blaming it on Skaven is just a bonus.

Of course if we were to drop the platform into the pit we would be assassinating even more VIPs, but who even knows how important that fat rat is to local Skaven hierarchy. A real rat lord would never dare go so deep into enemy territory with just a handful of Stormvermin at his back. I bet he's just an ambassador-merchant.

If we ignore the risks then freeing the Orcs would be my favored course of action, but it seems really hard to do compared to shooting a gun and legging it.

Edit: I'm gonna approval vote for all the popular options palatable to me.

[X] Doppelganger to look like one of the armored Skaven, then try and assassinate the Goblin Leader. Be seen as a Skaven assassin, then flee into the shadows.

[X] Attempt to interfere with the Hall of the Moon...
-[X] By freeing the Orc prisoners.

[X] Collapse the structure into the Orc pit using Pall of Darkness on the bonfire and Substance of Shadow on supports

@BoneyM will the phrasing "be seen as a Skaven assassin, then flee into the shadows" rather than "be seen fleeing as a Skaven assassin" have any mechanical penalties? As in, will she give up a turn of running/initiative/whatever game mechanic the chase will be implemented with? Is Mathilde going to stand there until they notice her, run immediately and hope it works, or some kind of middle ground?

I like the plan but it won't have my vote if it gives Mathilde the idiot ball.
I believe this is the standing GM word on the question of "will Mathilde be an idiot when attempting to accomplish her objectives":
This goes right back to what I've been saying about the nonsense surrounding Masteries: this is not an adversarial relationship, please don't try to turn it into one. I will not have Mathilde drop stone dead if you forget to write 'continue breathing oxygen' in the vote, and treating me like I'm the type to end it all in Rocks Fall Everyone Dies if you don't write a fifteen-point checklist on how to not die just makes me want to spend my time doing other things.

[X] You've scouted this area, now...
-[X] To the Chiselwards, an enormous warren of tunnels that could house any number of horrors.

I am doubtful about our chances of killing the Night Goblin with a single shot. He is big, tough, has armour and, as he is negotiating with Skaven, he may well have some magical protection against assassination. Anyone with half a brain would try to get as much protection as possible before talking to Skaven.

There's certainly something arcane about him, even if he might not have magic himself.

"The wagons are piled high with dog-sized cages, and through the bar you can see the silhouettes of rats - actual rats rather than the half-man, half-rat abominations, but grown to hideous size and with a row of wicked-looking bone spikes along their spines."

These sound like wolf-rats, and if they're released, they can probably catch us.

So those voting to do something other than the Assassination plan, might I ask everyone to at least include a Scout a different area vote in your post.

[X] Abstain
Lots of votes and good reasoning one way or the other, so removing my vote for assassinating.

@BoneyM

Two questions: do Goblins Fear Elves as they do in TT?

And is it possible in any way to stack fear effects, if not in TT mode? Like using the Torc along with Dread Aspect?

Night Goblins are suicidal nutjobs in a race full of suicidal nutjobs.

more then half their units in the RPG have some form of fearless or unbreakable, you would think from the lore they would be worse than other goblins right? but no, there is always something with the little fucks, their ether high as a kite, more scared of the big boss than of dying or there is some totom dring them into a frenzy!

no I'm not salty from 6 party wipes from the fuckers, your salty....

Two more things. This is the first place we've scouted, we have 3 total.
That's only if you assume a few things.

1. That there are absolutely no delays of any kind.
2. We can successfully exfiltrate from the King's Gate.
3. We're perfectly fine with our forces being bombarded by the artillery emplacement we haven't destroyed.

It's best to assume we've only got one more location to go. The location we should go to is the King's Gates since they're the immediate defenses our forces are going to meet on arrival. At that point we decide whether to sabotage something there or go and hit the artillery, possibly even both.

what are you talking about? goblins cant use artillery for shit if its not guided, and we made all their ammo unguided last chapter. The threat is neutralized.

Which means they won't have accurate artillery. It's still an entrenched nigh unassailable position that's perfectly free to fire rocks down on our army. Goblin Rock Lobbers and Goblin Spear Chukkas exist even if we've removed their guided munitions.

Just because their artillery is poor compared to the Dwarf and Man versions doesn't mean it isn't still the King of the Battlefield.

Plus, who knows how outdated our intelligence will become if we do this attempted assassination even if we aren't delayed and succeed, with the ripple effect on other areas?
