The Gathering
It doesn't take long for you to decide that you should probably go to the meeting. Whatever it's about, it's probably important enough that you should know about it right away.

You just have to hope that it won't get too awkward if Mimi shows up.

"What do you think it's about?" Biyomon asks, fluttering along besides you. You shrug.

"Probably the keychains or something." That's what Haruka's working on right now, after all. "If it's something else, then we've got more problems."

"We can have more problems?" When you think about it... she's not entirely wrong. The keychains, the Dark Masters, the fact that Digimon are randomly appearing throughout the town... there just isn't room for any more crises.

"I'm... not sure, but it's best to be safe." The group you'll be taking into the Digital World includes two little kids whose brothers would kill you if you let something happen to them under your watch. There's plenty for you to worry about.

You guess this means you're attending the meeting tomorrow. Even if you don't really want to return to Haruka's apartment.

As it turns out, a singular apartment is not built to accommodate eleven humans, as well as several assorted Digimon. Not that you don't all make your best effort to squeeze in- Biyomon, Tentomon, Patamon, and DemiDevimon have all been exiled to the ceiling.

"...Hey, where's Mimi?" Matt asks. "If TK managed to come out here for this, she could have bothered to stop by."

You wince. Given that everyone else made it here, odds are that Mimi's intentionally avoiding coming into contact with other DigiDestined right now. Not that you can really explain that without having to say how you apparently messed something up, but that means that your friend's absence is probably your fault.

"One of us can go and give her an update later," Izzy states, seeming not to really care about the fact that she's gone. "It's not so important that it can't wait at all, but..."
"It's only been seven hundred years. Not like that's a long time, or anything."
"...It's best to plan around this, just to be sure," Haruka finishes. "So, we've spent some time observing the keychains. And there was... a lot of information to be gotten from them. We might have even figured out a program to turn them back to normal without waiting for Patamon to Digivolve to the Ultimate Level and hoping he turns into the right Digimon."

"Normally, you don't tell us this kind of stuff until you're sure about it," Daigo comments. "...There's a catch, isn't there?"

"We'd have to execute the program in the Digital World," She confirms. "And, while my apprentice can normally be trusted with such matters... I feel that this is too important to leave to him."
"Also because I'd rather some kid I don't know not mess with my coding..."
"...You're going with them?" Rikuto asks, getting a nod in return. "Are you sure about this? Patamon's partner has the Crest of Hope, so odds are he's going to become the right thing..."

"Again, it's not a literal translation."

"It's not like... we don't have other reasons to go to the Digital World," Kazuya points out. "I'd want to make sure Zhuqiaomon's okay, at least..."

"Wouldn't it be dangerous for you guys?" Joe questions. "I mean, you won't have Digimon."

"Why do you think we didn't follow you the first time?" You don't actually have a good answer to that. Actually, you don't think anyone does, because you'd never thought that the four of them might want to return to the Digital World. You hadn't even considered the possibility.

In hindsight, you probably should have. When they all still carry their Digivices years later, even without any sign of being able to go back in sight, that implies something.

"And it's not like it's impossible for a human to survive without a partner," Gabumon adds. Agumon nods.

"Yeah, Kari managed, after all! And if it's just Haruka, then it can't be that bad!"

Everyone pauses to consider this, before Daigo asks, "What if it's not just Haruka?"

[ ] Then it gets more difficult.

[ ] That's... probably a bad idea.

[ ] ...At least there would be responsible nearly-adults around?

[ ] Mimi might not be okay with it...

[ ] ...You can't talk him out of this, can you?

...... I think it's a bad idea. But having people who know the nature of the digital world as well as these guys would be a huge help. It will be dangerous, but I think we should let them come.

[X] ...You can't talk him out of this, can you?

I'm not sure what to vote for here. I'm tempted to vote for the Mimi option, but it doesn't feel right to make the issue public at this point when there's still a chance that Sora might be able to resolve it without involving everyone else. But if she's avoiding important meetings, then maybe we should tell everyone else instead of just Daigo/Sora's parents?

The major problem with bringing everyone else is "What happens if the group gets split up again?". If the older DigiDestined get separated from the newer DigiDestined, then they only have Daigo's charisma, Haruka's coding skills, and any other skills and knowledge they have ... which actually sounds like it might be enough.

They should be really useful if we do bring them though. After all, they're skilled veterans of the Digital World and partners to the Sovereigns, whenever we manage to find them. Also, hopefully Maki and her Digimon will be helpful in defending them once we change them back. After typing all that, I think I'd prefer to bring them, but I'm not sure whether to mention Mimi.

Also, another possible issue is the older DigiDestined trying to take charge. I'd like it if someone other than Sora focused on taking care of everyone, but I'm not sure if Tai and Matt would be ok with following someone else's lead ... Though I'm not entirely sure that the group has a leader. It's probably because Sora is the protagonist, but it feels like she's the closest thing to a leader the group has.

-[X] It could probably still work, and there are potential advantages, but the group need to discuss the issues first. For example, do the older DigiDestined think that they'd be ok on their own if the group gets split up yet again? Also, there's something you need to discuss with Daigo after the meeting...

I don't want to make the issue with Mimi public yet so I added that on for after the meeting. Mimi won't be happy that Sora decided to go to Daigo for answers, but at the same time, he's probably the one who best understands her worries about people believing them blindly.

If we let them come, we shouldn't phrase it in a way that just reinforces Mimi's belief that we'll automatically agree with whatever Daigo says:
"Why wouldn't I? It's Daigo. He's always right."

"...You didn't even question it, did you?"

"I mean, it made sense when he explained it. And... I guess it still does, in a way? Like, things have been going on well enough, so they don't really need to change?"

"Come back when you're ready to actually think for yourself."

Sure, just take over the meeting, why don't you?

-Vote Closed!-

Of course, they're all important concerns... And it's probably better that this actually goes into the plans, rather than them randomly deciding to tag along after they help open a portal and potentially ending up on the other side of DigiWorld. Yes, I actually considered that.

Things to Consider
It still takes a few seconds for you to process that. All five of the original DigiDestined, back in the Digital World? You're not sure why you were surprised, with how worried they are about their partners, but this is still a new idea. And not necessarily a bad one, though...

"...It might work," You admit, continuing to think about it. "But there could be some big issues. What if we all got separated? That's happened, before..."

"I don't believe anything's going to go on quite that level when it comes to manipulating the landmass," Izzy points out. "If only because the Black Gears would have been the end result of a lot of work."

"Unless Machinedramon remembers how to make them," Matt replies. "Then it's just a matter of making one, and then copy-and-paste. If he can do that, anyway."

"I don't think he can..." Haruka muses. "Otherwise, he would probably have used it against us at some point."

"That's how you judge these things?"

"I don't think we have to worry about that too much," Kazuya states. "I'm pretty good at hiding, Haruka can program an answer if she just has a marker, Daigo can talk his way out of anything... and Riku can probably coast by on pure dumb luck." He quickly ducks to avoid the couch cushion thrown at his face.

Wizardmon sighs. "Please do not endeavor to make this apartment worse than it already is."
"He can't. It's impossible."
"I don't think it can get much worse than this," You say, before remembering something. "Oh, by the way, Daigo? Could I talk with you after this? It's sort of... important." You'll have to deal with the Mimi issue at some point, if only so she doesn't go off on her own in the middle of the Digital World. That could end badly.

"I'll probably have time," He shrugs. "My parents don't watch the news, so they haven't started freaking out about the Digimon yet."

"Couldn't you just explain it?" Patamon asks.

"Yeah, well..." Daigo looks distinctly uncomfortable, and now is probably as good a time as any to change the subject.

Something which Joe seems to notice. "So, if any of you guys are coming along, that means you need your own supplies, right?"

"Shouldn't be that hard," Rikuto replies. "Give Kaz enough ingredients, and he'll cook up something. Of course, we might end up getting sick of fish by the end of the month, but until then..."

"I do make things that aren't seafood."
"I forget, do you know how to cook meat that's a root vegetable?"
"Yeah, but we're probably going to have to deal with MetalSeadramon eventually."

"I can figure something out!"

"'Can' doesn't mean 'will', though," Gatomon points out. "Though if you're offering fish..."

DemiDevimon groans. "Yes. We know. You're a cat."

The meeting does not stay serious for very long after this.

"So, what is it you wanted to talk about earlier?"

"It's Mimi. You see, she..."

[ ] Just treat it like a normal argument, that doesn't necessarily mean anything about her lack of attendance.

[ ] Admit your worries that you've soured her on the other DigiDestined.

[ ] Talk about how badly she reacted to hearing that you took advice from him.

It's probably a really good thing that Sora and Izzy went through the portal back to the Digital World without pausing to say goodbye.

As for the vote, treating this like a normal argument feels like it's not taking Mimi seriously. I'm torn between the last 2 options since they're both important issues so I'm going to wait for more discussion before voting.

[X] Talk about how badly she reacted to hearing that you took advice from him.

I've decided to go with this because it's something we KNOW while the other option I was considering is about Sora's worries, not something she's sure about.

[X] Start with how you asked her to help distract your teacher, and how she now expects that you'll have her lie to other people as well. Then go over your attempt to defuse it, which she seems to have misinterpreted. End with Mimi's apparent worries over DigiDestined charisma in general, and the "listened to Daigo" example in particular. Since we know from his diplomacy lessons that he has his own worries about being too convincing, how does he deal with it and how can you help Mimi accept that part of herself?

"Soured her on the other DigiDestined" seems a little overboard, unless I missed something her issue is specifically with Sora and Daigo...

That said, placing Daigo's charisma as the central reason why Mimi didn't come would make Daigo feel horrible for having manipulated Sora.

Both options are decent, but I'd prefer a write-in that softens the blow.

Seriously, I wanted a third (well, fourth) option, but wasn't sure the best way to word it. This is wordier than I expected, but is basically everything I wanted.
