It doesn't take long for you to decide that you should probably go to the meeting. Whatever it's about, it's probably important enough that you should know about it right away.
You just have to hope that it won't get too awkward if Mimi shows up.
"What do you think it's about?" Biyomon asks, fluttering along besides you. You shrug.
"Probably the keychains or something." That's what Haruka's working on right now, after all. "If it's something else, then we've got more problems."
"We can have more problems?" When you think about it... she's not entirely wrong. The keychains, the Dark Masters, the fact that Digimon are randomly appearing throughout the town... there just isn't room for any more crises.
"I'm... not sure, but it's best to be safe." The group you'll be taking into the Digital World includes two little kids whose brothers would kill you if you let something happen to them under your watch. There's plenty for you to worry about.
You guess this means you're attending the meeting tomorrow. Even if you don't really want to return to Haruka's apartment.
As it turns out, a singular apartment is not built to accommodate eleven humans, as well as several assorted Digimon. Not that you don't all make your best effort to squeeze in- Biyomon, Tentomon, Patamon, and DemiDevimon have all been exiled to the ceiling.
"...Hey, where's Mimi?" Matt asks. "If TK managed to come out here for this, she could have bothered to stop by."
You wince. Given that everyone else made it here, odds are that Mimi's intentionally avoiding coming into contact with other DigiDestined right now. Not that you can really explain that without having to say how you apparently messed something up, but that means that your friend's absence is probably your fault.
"One of us can go and give her an update later," Izzy states, seeming not to really care about the fact that she's gone. "It's not so important that it can't wait at all, but..."
"It's only been seven hundred years. Not like that's a long time, or anything."
"...It's best to plan around this, just to be sure," Haruka finishes. "So, we've spent some time observing the keychains. And there was... a lot of information to be gotten from them. We might have even figured out a program to turn them back to normal without waiting for Patamon to Digivolve to the Ultimate Level and hoping he turns into the right Digimon."
"Normally, you don't tell us this kind of stuff until you're sure about it," Daigo comments. "...There's a catch, isn't there?"
"We'd have to execute the program in the Digital World," She confirms. "And, while my apprentice can normally be trusted with such matters... I feel that this is too important to leave to him."
"Also because I'd rather some kid I don't know not mess with my coding..."
"...You're going with them?" Rikuto asks, getting a nod in return. "Are you sure about this? Patamon's partner has the Crest of Hope, so odds are he's going to become the right thing..."
"Again, it's not a literal translation."
"It's not like... we don't have other reasons to go to the Digital World," Kazuya points out. "I'd want to make sure Zhuqiaomon's okay, at least..."
"Wouldn't it be dangerous for you guys?" Joe questions. "I mean, you won't have Digimon."
"Why do you think we didn't follow you the first time?" You don't actually have a good answer to that. Actually, you don't think anyone does, because you'd never thought that the four of them might want to return to the Digital World. You hadn't even considered the possibility.
In hindsight, you probably should have. When they all still carry their Digivices years later, even without any sign of being able to go back in sight, that implies something.
"And it's not like it's impossible for a human to survive without a partner," Gabumon adds. Agumon nods.
"Yeah, Kari managed, after all! And if it's just Haruka, then it can't be that bad!"
Everyone pauses to consider this, before Daigo asks, "What if it's not just Haruka?"
[ ] Then it gets more difficult.
[ ] That's... probably a bad idea.
[ ] ...At least there would be responsible nearly-adults around?
[ ] Mimi might not be okay with it...
[ ] ...You can't talk him out of this, can you?
