I get that too. I see a post from Azel or Snowfire and I have to struggle not to start thinking of 'might-have beens' but you guys have been great and as long as you feel like reading this story I will write it so we can see where it goes together.

Oh, don't get me wrong, while I'm somewhat depressed, I'm still enjoying playing this, and reading the story.
Otherwise I wouldn't be here :/
I'm... not sure if I would take anyone else leaving at this point, though.
Diomedon, Fehu, Azel, Snowfire, and that's just the people that have been active since Ijoined*?
Hopefully there would be no further salt. Hopefully.
*which may seem long ago, but it was past the 3.5k pages, and many people salting over one thing or the other even before that.

[X] The Reward for a Job Well Done
-[X] "Lord Justin Massey, -[X]"I hope this missive finds you whole in body and mind. After hearing the report from my sister of your valor in battle, I am of a mind to see you properly equipped for future encounters of a similar sort, since you appear to be so eager to launch headlong into danger, best you be best prepared as is possible for the matter. I will submit the order to my enchanters before long, though I hope the twenty thousand Imperial Marks retains its value ahead of gold and gems and serves as a balm against the mementos recovered beneath your Keep--that belongs to a dragon. Well, another dragon. And that too is a story for another time."
-[X] "Good fortune in the wars to come,"
-[X] "Viserys Targaryen" -[X] Post Script, scrawled across the bottom almost like an afterthought: "You can keep the sword." -[X] As your part of the treasure from all this, claim the Armor. Inquire about what he might desire for any of the rest. -[X] The Fortress location will be Vaes Leisi, once home to the "Wood Walkers".
[X] Outer Valyria.
-[X] (South eastern tip of the island south east of of Aquos Dhaen.)
-[X] The fortress will be used to make excursions into the depths of the ruins after this project, the location is likely to provide unique opportunities for those prepared for them.
[X] Build on the ruins of Borash
-[X] Close enough to sea and mountain for all purposes
-[X] After the ritual the fortress can guard the Demonroad, first against attacks from the slaver cities, secondly as a waypoint to patrol from against less concentrated threats, bandits, undead, seamonsters and such.
Though you seriously consider building the fortress upon the southernmost tip of Valyria to perhaps aid in the efforts to recolonize the scoured lands, you decide against it in the end. The way Aemon Naremos' letters speak of firestorms and beasts from the wastes show all too clearly how the Doom's shadow can lengthen, and you have little doubt the Efreeti archmages can coax such power forth. No sense giving them local reserves to draw on in the attack. Thus you decide upon the land the Dothraki called Vaes Leisi far to the east and north, washed by the waters of the Shivering Sea and left empty after the Ifequevron vanished from its woods.
Darleth listens to your reasoning carefully, then declares that he will take wing at once to see the shape of the land, not only the way the bones of the earth lay and the manner of life that dwells there but also how the Ley-Lines cross and what use may be drawn from them to empower wards and other protections.
"I would prefer if you first turned your attention to making this city safer from Deep Ones and other horrors, elder one," you remind him.
"Yes, yes I know." His hand twitches with unnatural speed as he waves off the matter. "I cannot very well study the underlying foundation of this world with hundreds of thousands of mortals milling underfoot, much less all the burgeoning magic. I will be splitting my time between the empty lands and here for the first month, expect preliminary plans for both by next month."
You nod, satisfied to see the determination to get to work at once. Darleth is clearly not afflicted by the sloth that drives so many wyrms to slumber the aeons away rather than setting their great strength to some higher purpose.
After parting ways with the dragon you are about to depart the library when a voice at once strange and oddly familiar hails you: "If I might have but a moment of your time, Excellence."
The accent is practically identical to Lady Saenena, though the voice is that of a man. Even before turning around to see the man of Valyrian blood wearing the spiral wyrm sign of Syrax at his throat you know him, though you have never seen him as a man of flesh and blood. "Certainly, Wisdom," you smile to greet Laenor Targaryen. Counting him, House Caleris, and Malarys together that is five souls you have wrested from the Doom and the march of ages both. A handful seems a small number in other regards, but in this you count it remarkable to be able to count even so many.
"Kaelos will do... though I suppose even that term needs to change in implication in this new world," he shakes his head. "I have no great interest in continuing my studies for now, though perhaps that will change in time as sharp edges of grief are worn away. One can hope at least." He manages to say the words without a trace of self-pity, but it takes no more than looking into the man's eyes to see the truth of that pain.
"I share that hope," you reply somberly, knowing that the struggles of the mind can be far more difficult than any outward battle.
"Thank you again, Excellence, not only for restoring me to flesh but for building all this," he waves around the busy library. "A hall of knowledge worth visiting, a city worth living in, for all I would still prefer the quiet of the countryside once I have enough of an understanding of the current age for it."
Your smile grows all the more genuine in parting. While you cannot consider Laenor family now, having shared little more than a dream of the Doom and a handful of words spoken in broken Lyceos, you hope that might change in time.
***
Upon returning to the keep for dinner you discover that Dany had been busy with more than just restoring Laenor. She alongside Ser Richard, Mereth, and Sandor had recovered the hoard of the wyrm Felzath Farseer from beneath Stonedance with no small aid from Ser Justin Massey who had with little more than a borrowed sword dealt final death upon a specter that had haunted the keep for millennia, all while his father had been out hunting. Even Mereth grudgingly admits the man deserves a reward for his daring in the face of such a foe. So you do, penning a letter to be delivered by an Erinyes alongside a substantive reward with your thanks.
Lord Justin Massey

Good fortune in the wars to come,
Viserys Targaryen
Just as you are about to lay your calligraphy wyrm stylus down, you remember how he slew the Wraith, and add a quick post-script: "You may keep the sword."
Of all the treasure gathered from Felzath's hoard you decide to keep the Fey Lord's armor for your own, either to hand out to one of your friends and vassals or to trade to the Orphne.

What do you do next?
[] Attempt to seek out 'She Who Brings Enlightenment'
[] Reconvene with your most trusted allies and subjects on the matter of Heaven's Fate—and how much of it should be known to general populace
[] Summon the independent Artificer Uniila that has acted against you on many an occasion in revenge for taking her sister captive and bound by powerful magics
[] Visit your uncle again. You have things to talk about, and people to scheme against
[] Meet with Stannis Baratheon. With the bargain you've struck with Storm God, he may yet play a part larger than being but a mere Lord...
[] Begin the expedition to the Southlands
[] Write in
OOC: She Who Brings Enlightenment will likely take considerably longer than Darleth to reach since she does not normally take contracts.
I dunno how to feel about that, by the way.
Now that they're gone, the salt is gone too. Did the salt stop because they left and stopped creating saltfests, or did you start studiously avoiding anything even vaguely salt-inducing because they left?
[X] Make your way to the Opaline Vault, examine the Adamantine Golem for any unwelcome surprises from the Efreeti with the help of the Shaitan, and then proceed to Awaken it and do your best to tempt it into your service (full social buffs active of course).
-[X] Ideally it could either be an active participant in our armies, or it could serve as a guardian for important locations.
Can't we send someone else than Viserys?
I put that into "Delegated" after specifically asking you and Azel, and neither had any probems with that..?
Maybe asking around the PoF for now?
I dunno how to feel about that, by the way.

I've been doing my best to write in as inclusive and collaborative a way as I can but I do not think it would be fair to say anyone was creating arguments. It was just a whole bunch of story elements and flaws in my writing crashing together destructively. They have been fixed now, and much as I wish I could have solved them sooner and with less pain on everyone's part I'm glad my desire to write and the thread in general survived
I know 'She Who Brings Enlightenment' focused on uplifting or whatever, but what specifically did people want from her?
With Darleth the Delver at least we had a very clear idea of what we wanted from him -- help in designing the anti-Efreeti fortress, help with designing our own personal fortress, etc.
But with 'She Who Brings Enlightenment' there isn't that same clarity. I mean sure, let's meet her at some point, but it'd be nice if we had an explicit goal in mind.

Somebody said "she's a shiny minion" once we learned of her.
Someone else answered "We don't know anywhere near enough to judge that".
I said "I'll add meeting her in person and judging if she's of any use, then".
And then I went and added that.
...Is that the "let's discuss/argue stuff from MA-vote after the fact"?
Please don't be that/
You can't keep a secret if you spread it. So, either we come up with a way to do so ourselves, or it will spread in time by rumors. And we are not the only ones on Planetos with that knowledge.

No, we voted to meet her so by all means let's meet her. It'd just be nice if the thread had a clear goal in mind for what they want. Otherwise @DragonParadox will need to lay out what she can offer when we meet her.
