... Wait. Is this thing turning rookies into Dark Gears?! Or is it a huge mass of Hagurumon?

I have decided to change my vote, in part thanks to Mount. Elements' argument, and also on the off chance that the danger could potentially be high enough to trigger our own Ultimate Evolution.

[X] Blast it with fire. Blast it with as much fire as possible.

  • [X] Blast it with fire. Blast it with as much fire as possible.
[X] Find a way to bait it into attacking the various powerful Digimon around the area- just not MegaKabuterimon, Izzy's probably busy enough.
[X] ...Birdramon can fly. Take the ToyAgumon and see if you can't lure this Digimon to MegaKabuterimon, he'll handle it for you.

Neither of Them Are Rolling Well
Well, at least you have an idea of what to do when a Digimon starts attacking you. Thankfully, you haven't had to use it all that often, but... "Birdramon, how much fire can you manage at once?"

"I don't know. Enough?"

"Let's hope so. Blast it with as much as you can!" Given the odds of extremely high temperatures, you decide to stay on the ground to protect the ToyAgumon. After all, anything on the same level as them is probably something you can safely kick around.

Not that you'd want to do so, because Rookie Digimon are cute, and innocent, and generally beings that you'd feel bad about kicking around like that. So you'll just hope it doesn't come to that.

Birdramon takes off, and starts throwing large amounts of fire at the three-headed Digimon. Most of it fizzles out in the raging winds and storms of dust, but a good amount of it does make it through to the target.

Probably not enough, though, given that the wild Digimon barely seems to notice the flames.

It certainly notices Birdramon, though. It takes a few swings for it to realize that she's hovering out of its range, and even then, it tries to jump at her before crashing back down to the ground.

After that, the three heads seem to get into a discussion of sorts, though you can't hear anything that they say. Seemingly coming to an agreement, they take a battle stance, lasers beginning to glow from all three heads.

That's... probably not something you want your partner to get hit by. Or any Digimon, for that matter. "Birdramon, don't let that thing hit you!" You're pretty sure you don't actually need to tell her that, but in this case, i's best to be safe.

One powerful flap, and she moves away from the laser... which the three-headed Digimon promptly starts firing more of. Birdramon dances between the lasers, somehow managing to avoid being hit by any of them. Occasionally, she tries to throw out a few more blasts of fire, but those still don't really do much. Understandable, when her concentration is constantly being broken by random beams of light.

On the bright side, whatever that Digimon is, it's not tearing apart Rookies anymore.

On the minus side... this isn't exactly productive. And there's probably at least some collateral damage going on... just what is the range on those things, anyway?

[ ] Keep the distraction going, escort the ToyAgumon to Izzy's side where no one will feel safe approaching them.

[ ] Have Birdramon attempt to tackle the Digimon while on fire. That always works, right?

[ ] This Digimon's probably attracting a lot of attention to itself. And with that light show, it's very unlikely that any of it is good. It's probably safe to just pull a full retreat.

[ ] TK and Angemon have ventured nearby. Call them for backup.

I don't like letting this Digimon go when we know that it targets Rookies, and Birdramon tackling it seems like a bad idea.

Eh, why not?

Wait, are we still in the South or...?

Get the kids out of the line of fire first

Of course, it'll probably help that Angemon's attacks aren't hindered by the environment...

Never Underestimate Defensive Abilities
...Okay, using fire's not going well. Or maybe it's the fact that Birdramon can't concentrate on defeating the enemy when she's constantly being forced to dodge laser beams, which is completely understandable. You've sort-of trained for this, but no amount of preparation can really make you feel ready for the real thing.

Fortunately, you have a backup plan. "TK, Angemon, over here!" You call.

They make it to your side rather quickly, which probably means that they didn't really have anything else to do or something. "Could you help me with that thing over here?" You ask them, pointing at the three-headed Digimon that is still trying to shoot down Birdramon, and... failing pretty miserably at that.

Of course, there are a lot of other Digimon being caught in the crossfire of that, which is a bad thing, but the fact remains that it apparently cannot hit its intended target no matter how much it tries.

"The laser one?" TK checks.

"What else?" There's not exactly anything else around here worth being concerned with- most of the Digimon are content to just stick to their smaller scuffles. You'll be a bit more worried if any of them win, but that doesn't seem like it'll be happening anytime soon. You aren't sure how often the Digimon in this area fight, but from what you see, it can't be all that often.

Aside from, well, the three-headed Digimon shooting giant laser beams. Probably.

Angemon flies off to join the fight, and you hope he's good at dodging lasers. "So, do you have any idea which side he's on?" One of the ToyAgumon asks you, pointing at your opponent. Oh, good, so they're confused, too.

"I'm not sure he has one," You admit. "What kind of Digimon is he, anyway?" In hindsight, you probably should have asked that sooner, but you had a bit more to worry about then than you would have liked.

Well, okay, you'd like to go home and for all of this to be over with, but something tells you that's not happening for a while. Mostly the fact that you've been conscripted to save the world without so much as a mission briefing.

"I've never seen a Digimon like him before, but I've heard they're called Deltamon," Another one of the toy-brick dinosaurs speaks up. "They don't get along with others... don't even really get along with themselves... As a rule, they don't have allies." So, either mercenary, or indiscriminate. Or maybe he just took the money and then didn't care who he blasted.

Either way, not a Digimon that's good to have around, and you're glad that's been made clear.

Angemon starts firing his own lasers at Deltamon, and then blocks the returning fire with his staff. Because, unlike Birdramon, he actually has a method of defense. Not that you're glad about sending him into battle, but it's not like you can do this on your own.

You think it might be safe to sneak past this fight now... which is good, because you've sort of lost track of where you came in from and your one elevated platform is sort of preoccupied at the moment.

Mostly throwing fireballs that still have barely any effect. That's probably not going to become productive anytime soon, so maybe you should try something else...

[ ] Deltamon is distracted enough for it to be safe to move to more physical attacks, right?

[ ] Call her back, she clearly can't do anything at the moment and you need someone to cover you.

[ ] Let her keep acting as a distraction for a bit, you need to get these ToyAgumon to safety.
-[ ] With Izzy.
-[ ] Actually outside of the battle. Wherever that is.

Chip damage is still damage. Though that thing has impressive defenses to not take much from low level Ultimate attacks.

I'm still worried about Birdramon using more physical attacks. I just keep imagining Deltamon grabbing her with 2 of its heads while blasting her with the third one. It seems rude to just call her back after asking TK and Angemon for help, and hopefully having 2 opponents helps distract Deltamon enough to let Angemon fire off attacks.

Let's get the ToyAgumon out of here so we don't have to worry about them. While I'd like to get them outside of the actual battle, we have no idea where that is, and we're not going to have Birdramon around to protect us. Getting to Izzy will hopefully have less chance of Sora getting lost.
