Oh, I wasn't trying to make it a players vs QM kind of thing. That's never fun. More of our character trying their best to outwit the bad guys kind of deal, though I can see how that may have come across. Intelligence is just as much an important weapon as brawn.

Regarding our winged lady of steel protagonist, I'm sure she's subconsciously paranoid after a near-death experience and being tracked by a mysterious mob of flannel folk.
Just a hunch, but she'd likely have the same thought process as our discussion, just in a shorter time frame and with more general thought processes. It's fun to quest with a little bit of both meta and role play, imo. Not too much of both, but I love discussions like these

You're starting to get way too skittish again. You firmly tell yourself to chill, it's just a van.
But Farrah isn't bulletproof like you are, and maybe chilling should be done with some caution?
"All right," you keep on, "we've pretty much got this Aposyntheto down. What about Qorawiyay? And maybe we could come up with some combat uses? I mean, I know for sure that I don't want to summon face-eating rats if I don't know how to de-summon them."
Farrah giggles nervously. "I don't think I want to get into combat. I mean, I know all the fae-people we see on TV are fighting, but maybe that's because they're on tv? I mean, I mean maybe they're on TV because they're fighting. Because, I mean, waiting tables isn't all that TV-worthy?" She peeks at you shyly.
"Well, if, say, you were being tracked by some creepy people," you tilt your head towards the van, "maybe you'd want an escape plan? What sort of things have we seen people do for escaping?"
"They're always fighting! I guess we have to figure out what the rest of the words do-"
"We will. Especially if we have to escape fast sometime."
This time she gets the clue and her eyes go wide. "Oh! Oh, yeah, if we have to run away, we want to be able to do it quickly. Or efficiently. Maybe both?" She shifts, and for a second you think she might run right now.
Her mother was pretty nice about that joking stay-here offer, and she'd followed up all your deflection with "look, everything's a mess right now. You want to sleep here, you're welcome, whether or not you do the dishes. You brought my daughter home."
She's probably not going to be nice about it again if you lose her daughter. You pat Farrah's shoulder.
"Okay. Let's see. Buli. We don't know what that means. Um, hrrm." You scoop up the stick on the ground that you'd been practicing taking apart. It used to be part of a log. "So... Buli Huamu. Urrm. Buli Huamu... me? Some of the people had a person thing in there, didn't they? Like that giant did something something Ice Man."
The stick phases through your hand and drops to the ground.
"Oh, well, that's neat." The van is getting closer. You make sure you're between Farrah and it. "Okay, so I can - phase plants through me. Useful if I'm going through a briar bush, I guess."
"That's pretty cool." Farrah sounds jealous. "Why do you get all the cool stuff?"
"Hey, you took apart a remote with your mind!" The van has stopped. It still could just be any ordinary pest control van, right?
"Yeah, but I can't - well, maybe I can." She tries Buli Huamu and phases right through the stick.
"Awesome! Now, how about that one you used on the remote?"
"Linux? Um, um, Unutu."
"Can you Buli that?" The van door is open and there's three people in polo shirts that look like they mean business and you're hoping that the word Unutu means plastic or technology or something. You're pretty sure there's not a magic word for remotes.
She tries it out. "Buli Unutu me?"
"Stay behind me, okay?" You're still a lot tougher than her, no matter what. "And if you run -- head somewhere really public. But I'd rather you stay with me."
There are three people coming towards you. You recognize Light-Blue Polo Shirt and Red Polo Shirt from the day before. Royal Blue Windbreaker is new, bigger, and mean-looking.
"Hi guys. Great pants, by the way," you call to Light-Blue Polo Shirt.
She doesn't look impressed or amused. Darn it, you're funny!
You've got to do something and two of them have the ray guns out. Farrahis behind you.

But they have ray guns and only one of us is tanky (maybe not if the ray guns are plasma or sound-based, which I suspect would get around our strength rather quickly), so taking apart the van would prevent an immediate escape or whatever, but if they knock us out then they can call for another one, I'd assume.
