Part 1

The room was dark, nearly black as night with only five candles dimly glowing, illuminating the map that the was covered in tiny silver and gold pieces. Europa was divided into its original provinces, Francia, Britania, the Three Brothers, Scandinavia, Poland, Germania, Italia. A longship, a mounted knight, a soaring eagle… Each principality had a symbol that that represented them on the map.

"This is a disaster." A woman's voice stated as she slammed a piece of paper down onto the map. "Stolen equipment, drunkenness, disorderly enlisted men being arrested, officers accepting bribes." The woman looked up to the man sitting down across from her. "Are these reports accurate?"

"Yes." The man stated. "I warned her majesty that drafting the principalities forces for active duty was going to be a terrible idea."

"Did you tell her that?" The woman asked.

"Dear sister… if you actually paid attention, you would have known that I never got the chance to." The man replied, weaving his fingers together and placing them on the table. "Devon didn't allow me to address my concerns."

"That bastard." The woman whispered. "He always hated you."

"Because he knows I'm right." The man stated. "The Forces of the Principalities are loyal only to their princes, and their officers are as corrupt as they come. Having them command regulars pushes their corruption onto them. The results are obvious onto all who can see it." The man took a breath, rubbing his tired eyes as he tapped the piece closest to him, the Eagle. "To be honest, I didn't think it would happen so quickly."

"What do you mean?" The woman asked, confused slightly at the man's worry.

"The Massacre was two years ago… The rot of those officers should not have spread so quickly." The man stated. "Their positions were lowly, their commands temporary until the next class of officers would take over. But I fear that the Empire's enemies have something to do with those officers ruining the good reputation of the military."

"Brother… Has anything like this ever happened before?" The woman asked.

"No…" The man said. "Not even the Anarchy saw this kind of degrading of the Imperial army. The Hundred Years of Victory could be considered similar to this crisis, but that was more due to a lack of conflict and the prosperity of the empire than true negligence like we see today."

"Do you think you can get through to the Empress and try to change things?" The woman asked.

"No… Not with Devon and the others trying their best to keep me away." The man stated. "And she is dying and father will take the throne and the whole realm will be thrown to chaos."

"So what will you do?"

The man frowned and gave a heavy sigh "I don't know."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Year is 1900. The empire of Europa is teetering on the edge of collapse.

This year marks the 76th year of the reign of Empress Victoria the Vital, the shrewdest and longest reigning monarch to ever grace the imperial throne. In her reign, the empire went through possibly the longest period of peace and prosperity in its history. And in this time, she saw the Empire go through its industrial revolution.

But outside its borders, chaos reigns.

To the west, across the ocean, The only true republic since Rome expands to the west, assimilating and conquering the native tribes, and fellow settlers, on its path towards its destiny, as a power to rival Europa.

To the south, the mighty kingdom of the Congo has just begun its industrial revolution, its people spurred by the victory of their ancient traditions over the superiorly armed and the much more disciplined fighting forces of Europa, and its leaders saw that they must close the gap of technology, if they were going to survive.

To the east, Japan sits three miles away from Fort Vasil, waiting to begin a new string of offenses that will finally see them break through the impenetrable fortress of Saint Vasily the Victorious, and strike at the Russian heartland for the first time in 200 years.

But it is within the empire that holds the most dangerous, and grave threat. Even with wealth and prosperity, the princes and the captains of industry of the empire, one's whose loyalty is owed to the regions they were born to. They seek to break free of an imperial hand that has guided them for centuries and strikes out on their own.

However, this is not the story of an empire, at least not of an emperor or an empress trying to keep the empire whole or a story of a grand conquest.

This is a story of a class of officers whose very names will be cemented into the legend of the Imperial military. Who's actions will save an empire just as Vasily the Victorious, Zima the Virtuous and Charles the Reformer.

Where does your story begin?

[]On a Train, about to Enter Roma Station: A boy stares out the window, his destiny changed by fate itself, the place he is going a far cry from the smith that was his home. Master Malek... I wish you could see me now.

AN: Yes, another Quest by yours truly... But this time it's back to the World of Blood of the Frontier.

Only we are 500 years in the future.

This Reboot is actually going to be a little different than the first iteration. I made it more narratively focused, and since I have a lot more experience than all the stats and numbers. It will have more traits and skills, Like Silent Second Life.

Calling the vote: The boy in front of the large statue wins.

Act 0: The Vasily Aristov Memorial Military Academy. Part 1: The Blood of Heroes.
Act 0: The Vasily Aristov Memorial Military Academy. Part 1: The Blood of Heroes.

The Headmaster of the Academy, General Friedrich Von Mackensen looked at you with eyes of clear confusion. This man represented everything the academy had to offer. Skill in battle, Confidence in command, a living legend whose legacy could rival that of Vasily Aristov, had he not failed in his moment of triumph and allowed his enemy to escape to fight again.

Being in the man's presence made you feel uneasy, the confidence he seemed to exude by just staring at a stack at papers as he read the letters and requests for joining the academy.

Yours in particular. "I have already accepted you into this academy, Prince Aristov. I do not care about your reasons or your doubts."

You nodded. That you knew. "I'm not worried about myself… I'm worried about my father protesting this action."

The general did not show any emotion before he sighed. "Your family has not been to the academy in centuries, relying on their own personal experiences in battle, strategy, and combat. That is fine, but I think you can surpass them all."

"Surpass them?" You asked. "How?"

"The academy taught Vasily Aristov many things, but I'm very sure that it can teach the one thing that lead him to victory for so many years." The General replied. "The one thing that even your father can't teach you."

"And what would that be?" You asked.

"Wisdom." The general replied. "The wisdom to rely on your brothers and sisters in arms."

When the General left, you packed your things from home.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You looked at the marble work of the statue, at the towering figure that seemed to rise above the world like a giant. The figure was wearing heavy armor, with a nasal helm that could show the grizzled face of an angry, fearsome man who had just taken every victory he had ever won. In his hands was a sword that looked chipped, damaged from intensive use, the hands of Vasily looked weak like they were going to let go, and the sword would drop to the ground.

But it was the eyes that struck you the most. The eyes of a man who had seen everything that life had to offer and all of its horrors… and then he faced them all.

How could you measure to the life and legacy of this man? This man who had faced the greatest threats in the history of the Empire… of the world even, with only the comrades he trusted, and the army of the east.

And the woman he loved.

The man was a hero in every sense of the word.

You were his legacy. His blood...The man whom you had… no needed to carry on the torch for.

It was a shame that you didn't know how.

What do you do?:
[]Stay by the statue: Maybe his spirit is watching over you and is willing to listen to you.
[]Leave to the Church: Maybe God is willing to listen to a lost boy who knows not what to do.
[]Leave to the Stables: Perhaps Dimitri has finished caring for the horses, and he is willing to talk to you.
[]Go to the Library: You might want to get some reading in before the day truly begins.
[]Go to the Auditorium: There's no point in sitting around wandering the campus, you might as well wait at the auditorium. (Skips to the Initiation Ceremony.)

AN: Enjoy.
