Shield Hero, but hopefully Heroic

[X] In the end you settled on William Blackwood, an aging monk seeking enlightenment.

@Sword of Mars

What do we look like?

I like the first one.

Also having a companion/daughter seems like a really stupid boon. Why did people pick that? It doesn't really carry over in this new world.

It was probably choosen for having a more sane protagonist rather than one mad by the injustices of a world war

For the narrative or at least the memories of a better time.
wouldn't the gang option also done something similar? I feel you just traumatized the MC even more now since she will forever be separated from the person she cares about. A gang would have at least given us friends and the ability to do the same to recruit people.

We also maybe should have chosen lasting till the end of the war to get an even better start and experience.

Eh I'd say the way I see the MC is in a outfit similar to what the girls wore in So Ra No Wo To, you'd look like the average Japanese girl but the lack of hygienic tools, stress and eating unhealthily has left you with long messy knotted hair, bloodshot eyes with dark rings, you're unnaturally pale, thin and it has visibly stunted your growth in height. Not to mention the scars.

It isn't pretty let's just be real, you're a mangled mess you walk sometimes with a visible limp (which is effecting your stats). The reason you haven't described yourself in story yet is deliberate, you're avoiding your reflection I was being serious when I said you were a mess of scars and old injuries across your body. When I describe you as mangled, I'm describing you as mangled. The pain your character feels flaring up from her scars is only half mental delusion.

Oh god it does more than you know. There were some options that really mentally fucked up the MC, and some that really helped the MC. The daughter option? It was probably one of the best on the list for the build people threw out at the time. You'd be playing a much different character without it.

[X] You found a starving failure of a magician, Franics Brooke.

Seems we can help each other

So after we recover and heal up do any of the pictures work?

I doubt our scars are the kind that can just be healed away, even with magic. At least, not normal magic.

Might or might not be influenced by a certain old granny.
More practically, I'm worried about Francis's failure reminding us about our own too much.

[X] You met a merchants bastard daughter, Eleanor of Greenville eager to prove her worth to the world.

Damn, she presses all the Needs Care buttons

Due to having the ability to still care for people? Even a small monkeysphere

[X] You found a starving failure of a magician, Franics Brooke.
And now for my next trick, I will make this monster disappear!

When you are using a shield, having someone you want to protect is vital.

Even if they are in a different world, we have someone we want to return to alive.

Actually given how damaged we are, I can hazard a guess at the boons:
-Supply depot
--No malnutrition trait(i.e, won't be a 14 year old with the build of a 10 year old)
--Aggravated paranoia, you're talking about a child soldier hiding away from the world in total solitude, with a rich bounty of supplies she can't keep if anyone knew.
--Stunted social skills

-Companionship
--Actually has any empathy
--Improved planning trait
--Improved personal social skills

-Gang
--Tendency to see people as resources.
--Improved planning trait
--Improved leadership skills

-Library
--Isekai tech revolutionary
--Stunted social skills
--Improved intelligence and literacy

Anyway, picking over our sheet:
-Might 6 - We're not a shut in gamer(I'm guessing the original Naofumi would be 3 and unlikely to punch anything to death), but malnutrition debuffs us significantly. Given good food we should probably rise to 7 or so over time. Nothing to be done for the height though, she's passed the age where she's going to get significantly taller.
--Shield 0 - Shields block I guess?
--Brawling 4 - She will, if brawling with the average modern adult, beat their face to a pulp 9/10.

-Agility 5 - We're less agile than we should be due to scars and other injuries. Treat it magically and we'd probably get to Agility 7.
--Ambusher 4 - This kid is SWAT level.
--Gymastics 3 - Skilled but not exceptionally remarkable. Still small build means she can get in places others can't.
--Dodge 4 - I'm pretty sure she could exhale and disappear behind her shield.

-Awareness 10 - Sharingan on. Nothing's getting past us.
--Social Awareness 4 - On top of the Awareness, theres no bullshit that's going to work on us. We can read people better than we can read books.

-Personality 6 - Looking at the traits, Paranoia and Grievously Scarred should hurt the Personality score in that she finds it hard to connect with people and makes people want to kind of look away. Which says she'd look positively saintly if you could treat the scars. Paranoia's a much harder play.
--Interpersonal communication 4 - Around that of the typical politician I think?

-Intelligence 5 - Well She didn't rot her brain with drugs I guess?
--Literacy 3 - Can read. Good enough.
--Planning 4 - I think this leans mostly on Awareness, but that does mean she's a fairly good tactician, if not exceptionally good at bigger strategy.

-Trauma 10 - World champion in trauma. Join the Avengers
--Nicotine Addiction - Withdrawal would be a problem soon I think. We smoked one 1 of 5.
--Malnutrition - This should slowly go away, we are unlikely to starve here.
--Paranoia - Need people who can be trusted. Motoyasu is a good start I think(someone who has a Great Personal Failure that relates to someone ELSE in their life can't be too bad?), but between Awareness 10 and Social Awareness 4, I think what that says is simply meeting people who aren't assholes with a secret agenda. As long as we have to deal with the court this will stay.
--Grievously Scarred - Can we heal this? I'm not sure how well the setting magic handles healing, but if its one of those "draws resources from body to heal" type we probably need to feast every day for a month first.

torn between the mage and the monk on the one hand Magic and the food deficiency thing meaning we can relate and easier time befriending i would think. on the other hand the monk would be good synergistic DPS and could probably help with trauma recovery.
