Some guesses/concerns:

We're on a gallows with a trap door. That sounds time consuming to build, and is obviously impossible to carry with you on campaign. This sort of infrastructure makes me think we're reasonably close to a decent sized town.

Then, the people in our vision probably knew and liked us. Or, they at least felt somewhat sympathetic.

Normally, people get some kind of burial, or last rites. Our friends should have come to get out body. But the commander left us up on the gallows.

The fact that he gave that order means we must have really, really pissed him off. The fact that people respect it several days later makes me suspect that he's still around (or left guards or something)

This makes me worry that there will be a scout coming by at some point, and that there might be people around who will still recognize us.

We want there to be some explanation for our body's sudden absence (disturbing the sand suggests someone got the body via boat) and that we're reasonably careful to not get spotted.

Yea, this thing needs some love.

[ ] You feel you might be starting to feel hungry. Try to find some food. (Technically I have accidentally called for this one twice, although this one is a more immediate wish to sate that hunger.)

Prologue 3: An Elven Visage

You decide to keep ahold of the flag and use it as a disguise for yourself. As you have noticed that the scars around your neck have remained unhealed, you then raise the remnants of the flag to your neck. Primarily using your left hand to tie the knots, the flag soon covers the remains of the wound upon your neck. However, the flag now drifts off of your shoulder, like a short cape.

You turn your gaze towards the fallen buildings and see a few had yet managed to stay standing. And even those in more of a state of disrepair may yet yield something of use to you on your quest. Be it a shirt, a shield, or even a broken piece of glass.

You enter the first building, a small home by the looks of it. There's the skeleton of a bed in the corner and a fireplace opposite the door. Next to that is a kettle. You note it's a presence for later, as it could come in handy but you don't imagine it'd be very easy to just lug around.

Taking a glance about the room, you notice a forgotten satchel*. You walk over to it, bending down to examine the bag. It appears to be a tan bag in relatively rough condition, albeit would seem that it's still usable. You stand again, holding onto the bag. After a moment's consideration, you decide to keep the satchel. You take a glimpse about the room to see if there is anything else of use. You let out a sigh as it appears that there isn't anything else of use to you in this building.

You exit the building and you take easy strides to the next building which is but a few meters away. This building's door still stands in the frame, so you reach out your left hand and open the door. As you stride into the room, you take notice of a dresser, with what appears to have been a collection of weaponry next to it. Whoever it was that lived in this building must have been a guard or adventurer. Perhaps they were just a collector, as well.

You feel a calling towards the weapon case, taking a look inside. As you approach it, you notice that it's obviously missing some of what it may have held. Perhaps those who were gathered for your execution raided this village as well.

Inside the case, you find a few things in disrepair. You first take out what you feel is a hand and a half sword. You hold it up for a moment, looking it over. It's covered in dust and looks a little rusty. You place it upon the bed and go back to the case.

You pick up another weapon, this one being a flail. You lift the chained weapon up, glancing at the rounded ball at the end of the chain. It appears that spikes were meant to be attached to the ball, though they more than likely were removed or broke off. You repeat what you did with the sword, and once again return to the case.

This time, you grab a shield. The shield is circular with two straps which you fit your right arm through. The shield is wooden, perhaps oak, with the outer edge having an iron guard. It doesn't appear to be overly heavy and is likely designed to be carried around on the wearer's arm. You do however notice it has a strap so you could carry it upon your back for convenience. You then remove the shield from your arm and place it amongst the other items upon the bed.

Before you reach into the case, you look above it to find a spear sitting there. You lift it from the holder on the wall and hold it in your hands. You gently test the weight of the shaft and examine the blade. Then you place it also on the bed.

The last few items amongst the case are one you had already determined you should keep. You pick up a recurve bow, then lean it against the bed. There's a quiver with some arrows in it, you make a quick count of fifteen. You drop it next to the bow. The last object is a dagger which you have already decided to keep.

Then you parse the dresser. Within the contents of the dresser are some dirty tunics of a few different colors, some worker's pants, what appears to be a tanned leather jacket. There is also some undergarments. You also find a bar of soap, strangely enough.

You then dress, making sure to keep the flag over your scar. Grabbing the weapons of your choice as well as the bow and the quiver, you step out of the building.

Stepping across what would account for a pathway that was large enough for even carriages to pass through, you enter the last truly standing structure. Once inside, you see that whatever was here has been dilapidated beyond recognition. The roof is collapsed, and the only thing standing that even looks remotely useful is a mirror.

A breath of curiosity dwells over you, which spurs you forth towards the mirror. Upon reaching it, you take your hand and carefully swipe the dust from the reflective surface. You take a look at yourself in the mirror, a soft smile showing through on your lips. For some reason, you had imagined you wouldn't be able to see your elongated, pointy ears.

A thought comes to mind, that perhaps you haven't been dead for very long, and so you walk towards a palm tree. You reach down and grab up a fallen frond. You then entirely retrace your steps, removing the evidence that you had been here, although you are certain as to not cover any tracks that might not have been your own. The idea to make it look like your body was removed comes to mind, though you realize you don't exactly have the tools nor even possibly the time to make it appear as if a boat had taken your corpse.

For a moment, you stand still and take a look around the village to see if something catches your eye or causes you to remember anything. Unfortunately, it would appear that nothing does. You sigh in disappointment, and then you take a look for some form of tracks. There has to be something.
Rolled for if there are tracks, rolled a ten. Rolled a perception check, nat twenty
You bend down, surveying the sand of the beach. You guide your left hand along finding what you are looking for. Horse tracks and wheel trails. You also see an intermingling of footprints from people. However, the tracks are all single file which hides however many there may have been.

You stand, keeping sight on the tracks as you begin to follow them. You happen to grab a fallen coconut as you follow the tracks, managing to get it open with your dagger.

As you eat, a realization strikes you. You don't know what you're going to say to anyone in the occurrence of running into another person about who you are. You don't even truly know your name.

QM's Patch Notes:

  • Replaced the Lore/Journal with the Character Sheet, which also contains the character's Quest Log.
  • Replaced the NPC list, with Lore, Information, and Maps which will serve as a journal of the various people and information of this quest. However personal relationships shall be shown in the Character Sheet. A map is in the works and shall be added upon completion. However, the entirety of the map shall not be revealed due to further exploration.
  • Implementing of 'Inspiration Points'. Inspiration Points shall allow all rolls called for within a post which is to the main character's aid to be rolled twice, taking the higher of the two rolls. This shall also leave any rolls that are against the main character and her allies to be rolled twice, taking the lesser of the two rolls. These shall be rewarded per player, as per QM's discretion. Examples as to how to obtain an Inspiration Point are as follows: General Quest Participation, Discussion, Omakes, Ideas, Assisting the QM with her failures of QMing, etc.
  • Added a 'Quest Theme Song' in the Overview.
  • We shall soon be exiting the Prologue/Tutorial Phases of this Quest, which shall show us the first Side Quest. Side Quests will server to further character progression and development, as well as offer an exclusive bonus to either Soul Purification or Soul Damnation. They shall also offer unique rewards, exclusive bonuses to Fame and Reputation, including titles.
  • Romance shall be offered up as a potential sideline. Romances will be tied into the main plotline as whoever the protagonist does romance shall be an ally that will be at their side through thick and thin unless the plot calls for her to go it alone, and at some points, it shall do just that.

Note from the QM Herself:

Please bear in mind that this is my first true delve into running a quest. A lot of things are subject to change. I am open to ideas and criticism, and I would appreciate it if you had ideas as to how better run this quest. Even if you come up with story ideas, character ideas, I will appreciate it. I am running this on a tight, yet loose style. In other words, I have the most important details about this quest, the world, and the characters on lock. However, the journey itself is still being written as it relies just as much on you as it does me. This is our story. Let us make it brilliant, together.

Edit: Once the vote closes the "Long reaching two armed weapons" will be renamed to polearms.

For the reason behind choosing the spear:
Keeps the enemies at a distance, while choice strikes can end them quickly like any other weapon. Effective in the hands of a greenhorn, terrifying in the hands of a master. Practical and effective.

Flail's the most unique weapon and pretty powerful, along with the shield so we can avoid hitting ourselves. I was sort of flitting between Kiera and Liliana, Kiera I admit sounding more protagonist-y.

Spears are nice and all (good range) but once you master the flail, think of all the awesome stuff we could do with it. I mean, we don't have think of it as a weapon all the time. We could be flexible on how we use it once we have bow and arrow.

Hmm. Well blue/white/tan is a better color combination imo. green/tan/tan feels like too much tan.

I'm cool with spears, but I considered one-handed weapons so as to make using a bow easier, and swords are a little boring.
Also the last two options are just hilarious.

Also, people seem to want to go troll so sure let's go with this

I have realized that I have forgotten to implement one of the votes in this update about her trying to see if she had developed any abilities and or powers.

That was unintentional, and shall be put in at the start of the next update. My apologies. T_T

To paraphrase a certain popular parodied anime, "Your QM's an idiot."

Alright, reasoning:
A spear because flails have a high skill ceiling. Chained flails can indeed be damnably effective against shielded and armor targets, and particularly brutal, but they come with the disadvantage of short reach (thus they shouldn't be used without shields). Plus, one must always keep up the momentum and be very talented with overall body control. One false move and you risk to open yourself up after sustaining a strike upon oneself. Spears are more simple and offer a whole lot of branching opportunities. For example, it is possible to re-specialize towards pole blades (glaives / guan-daos), which are surprisingly versatile and particularly fierce weapons with some skill.

As for the clothes, I'm not so deep into fashion as to think about what would fit a walking corpse, so just went with the generic genericness (Read: don't care even if she went full commando).

Name... Well, this, which basically means 'dark', 'black', or 'dark-haired'. The name is stylish, not overly-fancy, and does not give any cringe in the form of reminding about some (IMO hideous) characters from Bioware games Bioware delenda est!

Everyone keeps saying that this is trolling, to which I protest and state that this can pretty much be a tool for getting behind the otherwise reputation-locked places. Indeed, it would be nearly impossible to build up fame while juggling a few personae, but fame is hardly healthy for an undead trying to disguise itself among the living.

Anyway
Rolled for if there are tracks, rolled a ten. Rolled a perception check, nat twenty
Wut? What are the character's stats?

I should have noted that the D20 resulting in the ten was to see if the tracks were even there in the first place. Due to it being so middling they were going to be faded.
Edit: This was based off of a tabletop session I was in where the DM used fate rolls. I'm not too sure if I like the idea of these and may outright do away with fate rolls moving forward.

The second D20 was her perception check, which was a Nat20. She currently has a +2 modifier in visual perception due to being an Elf or, more like having had been an Elf.

Once I get home I'll work on adding the rest of her stats into the character sheet, I have work from 7 to 3 and then a doctor's appointment.

QM's Update:

First off, adding a QM's schedule to the overview so you know when I am available to write and answer questions/feed the flames of debates.

Upon reflection, I have decided that I shall be removing dice rolls and number based statistics almost entirely from this quest. Now I realize that there are those of you who will not agree with this, and I understand that. Please, just see things from my perspective as a new QM. And right now? Life has gone crazy, and this is my escape. I enjoy writing as a passion and I love writing with others who enjoy the characters that I bring to life, or in this case, un-life. I do this for fun and the thrill of it.

With numerical stats for the characters? Throwing dice every time I want to see if something is even there, and not only that but to see if the character can see a giant ass, Tyrannosaurus Rex(Yes, I am going to spoil this. Dinosaurs exist because if you can have DRAGONS you can have a T-Rex)? It's to keep things a little easier on myself. Basically, either she can do it or she can't.

And no, the Quest itself is not stressing me out in any way, shape, or form. Personal things in life are. I do this to relax.

With that said, I shall, however, be implementing ways to see our characters skills with certain skills, and I shall be setting how she is with other things, such as speed.

I am going to keep this vote open for at least one more day before closing it.

Why Flail and shield? Because unique. Also we has regen, it should cover our butt somewhat.
Nameless and shifting backstory is because undead. We might be able to turn positive but that doesn't mean we'll ever want to expose our undead status...I think.

A vote tally, though I'll be keeping this vote open until tomorrow.

Also, two-handed long reaching weapons? I meant pole-arms.

This is being counted by line, but I'll be counting each one of each task it's from individually.
