Prologue: Chapter 3
You had been inside the body of this female child for what must have been several years by now. Your last body had fallen gravely ill, so the Leaf village that imprisoned you sought a new cell for you. You felt a burning rage and hatred when you saw your new host, a girl with purplish-black hair who had similar eyes to that very same Hyuga you helped out so long ago. The Byakugan...! Your hatred for the eyes nearly made the girl die of fright, but...it does not matter now. She was your host, for better or for worse.

It had to have been decades since you were locked up in here. A cold and dark room, with only a single small hole in the ceiling that occasionally brought down sunlight. Your arms were cuffed behind your back with special sealed cuffs, locking out any chakra that this weak child may have been able to muster. Your legs were chained to the floor, offering you very little movement. For years your only interaction with others were a pair of cycling guards that brought you food and drink every other day. There was always the human whose body you inhabited, but you couldn't care less about her. You learned with the last two hosts that it was pointless to try and intimidate or injure them.

Your ears perked up as you heard faint voices echoing down the hallway. Your stomach instinctively growled as you began to salivate. You gritted your teeth, barely hearing them scrape together against the hateful curses that filled your head. You were just a dog in here. You had wracked your brain for countless years trying to think of a way out of here, but nothing came to mind.

The two guards came into view, and you glared at them as they walked up to your cell door. Your eyes couldn't help but glimpse at the tray of food one of the guards had in his hands, betraying your cold exterior.

"Oh, gods... this little girl was made into that monster?" one of the guards asked. New blood? From what you remembered, it had been the same guards since you were first locked up. Maybe one of them had died.

"It was very difficult finding a host when it came time," the other guard said. "This is a grave responsibility to take, you see. Yet the head of the Hyuga Clan gave his own daughter to the beast. He claimed it was her choice, but the fear in her eyes told us everything. But at that point...we couldn't refuse. It was her or letting the demon run wild.

"I can't imagine anyone giving their child away to this fate! Why...why not put the beast in an orphan?" the new guard asked, audibly disturbed.

"We're not forcing anybody into accepting the Curse of the Fox. That is something they have to agree to, whether they back down or not. You'll just need to get used to the way things are around here. There's no way we can let this beast loose. It may look like a child, but that thing is a vicious psychopath. You'll need to learn that... so here," the guard said, handing over the tray of food to the new guard and taking the keyring.

"A-Are you sure?" the guard stammered, his eyes darting from the other guard to you.

"It's chained down good. You'll be fine," the guard said as he unlocked the door. The new guard hesitantly walked inside of your cell. This may be your ticket out of here...

[] Your incessant tugging on your leg chains over the decades has made them weak. Make the final push to break them.

[] He still holds the keys in his hands. Bite the hand with them when it draws near and do not let go until the keys are yours.

[] Pretend to be the human child you inhabit. A fake story and crocodile tears can perhaps lead to him releasing you from your bindings.

[] Just bow your head and behave. If you can build up trust with this new guard over time, then perhaps he can let you free...

Doubt we're ready to make a break.

Can we communicate with Hinata in the seal? Through meditation maybe?

Is it possible to combine these two? Doubt crocidile tears would work, but if he releases us and we say to put them back on, gaining trust should be easier.

I doubt Kurama knows how to properly act convincingly (due to being a literal demon and having been in social isolation for decades). The other guard set the expectation we'd viciously attack; plant further seeds of doubt by playing passive.

Something like this work? I doubt we could work the 'still a child' angle, but at least appearing miserable seems feasible.

So it's been what a decade in the cage? She's probably like a feral child after that long. Still, worth a shot, for someone who can't tell us to shut up and kick us into the wall.

But with none of their terrifying powers, they are allowed to roam as they please... so long as they are law-abiding, of course.

So can you explain why Kurama isn't roaming free, as compared to the others? Or is it spoilers?

Presumably he was mind controlled into attacking like in canon, but has he done anything else to justify his caging? Maybe acted on trying to free himself from the sealing? Also, if Hinata was that old when initially sealed... what happened to Kurama's previous host? Was it even Kushina?

Is Konoha the only village that is jailing their pseudo-Jinchuriki?

Is Gyuuki jailed for the fabled fight he had against the Raikage? Or would he and Kumo have a grudging respect for their respective prowess and let things be?

Because Kurama is a wrath fueled psychopath who would kill anyone he sees. He's extremely violent and unsuited for 'civilian' life.

This is an AU, so canon personalities might be different. Kurama isn't a misunderstood tsundere here, he's a malevolent being. Basically, how he was at the start of the series.

Well Kurama was captured after the valley of the end battle, so he didn't attack Konoha. He's caged because, as I said, he is insanely dangerous. Also, yes, Kurama has tried to escape before. As for his previous hosts, in this timeline, it was Kagami Uchiha, then it was Kushina if Naruto didn't win the host choice. If Naruto did win, it would prolly be some other leaf person. The previous host, as mentioned in last update, became gravely ill and died, requiring the new host.

So current host line is Kagami > Kushina > Hinata.

Is Konoha the only village that is jailing their pseudo-Jinchuriki?
No.

Is Gyuuki jailed for the fabled fight he had against the Raikage? Or would he and Kumo have a grudging respect for their respective prowess and let things be?
If you ever get to the Cloud, you'll see.

Kurama's Backstory Summary
If you wanted to know the general deal about pre-sealed Kurama, he was generally treated as a natural disaster like most bijuu: not really something you could stop. Hashirama and Mito were the main reasons the bijuu got locked up, but at that point Kurama had a hiding spot. His hatred of the Byakugan is tied into a very important character in the backstory of this AU, the progenitor of the Uchiha. No moon people or any of that nonsense, going with the postulation earlier in canon that the Sharingan stemmed from the Byakugan.

Basically Adra Hyuga sought out Kurama to get a power boost because he wants ultimate power and the bijuu are basically sentient balls of evil chakra. He bargained with the Kyuubi, seeking for the fox to grant him demonic power. In return, he would grant the beast a safe haven: a cavern in an obscure abandoned Hyuga clan ground, whose entrance could only be seen by one with the Byakugan. With the additional promise of using his newfound powers to cause mayhem, Kurama agreed, and Adra's Byakugan was forever changed by the demonic energies that empowered it.

Then Madara flubbed it all up later by forcing Kurama to be his weapon with the Sharingan, dragging him out of his hiding spot and making the fox fight against the one dude that could stop him. Way to go, Madara. Of course, Adra's partially to blame, since it was his writings and research that led Madara to the hiding spot and made him confident enough that he could genjutsu him due to the connection the eyes had.

I doubt any of this backstory will be all that relevant, which is why I'm bringing it up. And I was just given the go ahead, so here's a bit of extra lore.

And then, as stated in an earlier post, Kagami volunteered to be Kurama's first host in this verse to get slack off of his clan, then Kushina, and now Hinata.

So, there is a chance that kurama could change one of his body's eyes to a sharingan under the right conditions...?

Adra's Sharingan were special because they also retained the Byakugan's powers. It would only be fitting if this circled back onto the guy that gave the power back in the first place. Of course, such a thing is busted as shit, so I doubt you'll get it until much later on.

Wouldnt expect anything like that so soon. Especially since were extremely restricted at the current. Its nice to know the possibility is there though!
