You decide to spend some more time with Kari. Lately, things have been spiraling out of your control, as much as you can control the whims of the Digital World, and it's time for you to get back to your comfort zone. People skills. You've considered them a personal weak point for a while now, but with all the differences between the two worlds, they're likely the thing that you can trust most.
As for who to spend time with... you'd rather be in the company of your fellow DigiDestined right now. But you don't really know Mimi all that well, and Izzy's hard at work putting the island back together- he simply doesn't have enough time for you.
This leaves Kari. Kari who you've known since you were little and she only spoke in whistles. You never did learn to speak whistle, but she's just as much a fixture in your life as Tai and Matt. And without a partner, she really does need someone to look after her.
You're more than happy to be that person, as there's nothing else that you can do. And so you sit to the side with her and Bukamon, and you talk.
It's not easy. Whatever happened with Monzaemon left her shaken, and Bukamon isn't volunteering any hints, though he still looks at your Digivices longingly. Not that you can help him with that. Maybe if you're lucky a hole will open in the sky and Joe will fall through, but you don't think you'll ever be that lucky.
But you manage. Slowly, you get her to open up, using words of support and general questions, and while you're sure that the specifics will be unknown to you for a long time, you eventually manage to put a fairly simple story together.
Tai, as you suspected, managed to get the Combat Team lost. So lost were they that they left the Gear Savannah entirely, ending up in the area known only as the Misty Trees, commonly considered to be the most creepy place on File Island, ever since the Overdell had a Bakemon liaison stationed in the city. Creepier than even Infinity Mountain, because while the mountain is still a hideaway for evil, at least you can see things on the mountain other than endless fog.
(Sora's Knowledge: Digital World skill has increased!)
There was also a Monzaemon there, likely the one that is said to live in Toy Town, and he was under the control of a Black Gear, attacking Veedramon and Lynxmon with something before the bubble happened that caught Kari. She doesn't tell you anything about Tai and Agumon.
You hope they're doing alright. But you have your hands full here.
Things continue like this for the next few days, though you suppose that the island's direction has to have been reversed at some point, because one morning you leave the card shop to see Infinity Mountain on the horizon. Which means you have to start planning to confront Devimon, because there is no way you're letting things stand as they are.
Plan?
[ ] Charge straight in. There's enough of you that it should do something.
[ ] Let Devimon come to you. Build a signal fire, do whatever you can to draw his attention... either he runs out of slaves, or he decides to deal with you himself. Both work.
[ ] Hide out for a while and search for allies. You don't think you're quite ready yet.
