[X] Talk to Kari more. Try and figure out what happened to Tai. See if you can't do anything for Bukamon. Something, anything, to make you feel useful.

Maybe he has to master his Crest in a sort of "Knowledge is only useful when tempered with wisdom" sort of thing? Until he masters that, and loses the attitude that he seems to be getting, his relationship with Tentomon is less partner and more master and servant. Digicode can only do so much, he's still got to contend with the metaphysical realities of the Digital World, including the fact that friendship is literally power here.
See Courage for an example. Rushing into everything isn't True Courage for the crest.

[X] Help him along. You're good enough with Digicode that you can't make anything worse.

Internet connection relatively stable, mind capable of working semi-coherently... let's do this.

-Vote Closed!-

Let's spend some more time with Kari, shall we?

Certainly, Worse Things Have Happened
You decide to spend some more time with Kari. Lately, things have been spiraling out of your control, as much as you can control the whims of the Digital World, and it's time for you to get back to your comfort zone. People skills. You've considered them a personal weak point for a while now, but with all the differences between the two worlds, they're likely the thing that you can trust most.

As for who to spend time with... you'd rather be in the company of your fellow DigiDestined right now. But you don't really know Mimi all that well, and Izzy's hard at work putting the island back together- he simply doesn't have enough time for you.

This leaves Kari. Kari who you've known since you were little and she only spoke in whistles. You never did learn to speak whistle, but she's just as much a fixture in your life as Tai and Matt. And without a partner, she really does need someone to look after her.

You're more than happy to be that person, as there's nothing else that you can do. And so you sit to the side with her and Bukamon, and you talk.

It's not easy. Whatever happened with Monzaemon left her shaken, and Bukamon isn't volunteering any hints, though he still looks at your Digivices longingly. Not that you can help him with that. Maybe if you're lucky a hole will open in the sky and Joe will fall through, but you don't think you'll ever be that lucky.

But you manage. Slowly, you get her to open up, using words of support and general questions, and while you're sure that the specifics will be unknown to you for a long time, you eventually manage to put a fairly simple story together.

Tai, as you suspected, managed to get the Combat Team lost. So lost were they that they left the Gear Savannah entirely, ending up in the area known only as the Misty Trees, commonly considered to be the most creepy place on File Island, ever since the Overdell had a Bakemon liaison stationed in the city. Creepier than even Infinity Mountain, because while the mountain is still a hideaway for evil, at least you can see things on the mountain other than endless fog.
(Sora's Knowledge: Digital World skill has increased!)
There was also a Monzaemon there, likely the one that is said to live in Toy Town, and he was under the control of a Black Gear, attacking Veedramon and Lynxmon with something before the bubble happened that caught Kari. She doesn't tell you anything about Tai and Agumon.

You hope they're doing alright. But you have your hands full here.

Things continue like this for the next few days, though you suppose that the island's direction has to have been reversed at some point, because one morning you leave the card shop to see Infinity Mountain on the horizon. Which means you have to start planning to confront Devimon, because there is no way you're letting things stand as they are.

Plan?

[ ] Charge straight in. There's enough of you that it should do something.

[ ] Let Devimon come to you. Build a signal fire, do whatever you can to draw his attention... either he runs out of slaves, or he decides to deal with you himself. Both work.

[ ] Hide out for a while and search for allies. You don't think you're quite ready yet.

We should probably try to find TK if nothing else. Angemon could probably at least hold the line against whatever super-form Devimon decides to bring out of his ass, but with Birdramon there we could likely crush him before he gets the chance.

Also, Ogremon is also a Champion, but I wouldn't be surprised if he gets tied up with Leomon.

No underestimating the big arc villain. Get the Digidestined together first, THEN fight the devil.

We need the others. And dear god, poor Kari and Bukamon. How long do you all think they were stuck in that bubble?

I mean, no offense to the others, but they're all working with green Champions at best, while Sora and TK both have pretty experienced Champions. And TK's solo'd the guy in canon as the newbie-est of newbies.

I'm not leaning on canon here, but I am using it as a measuring post for what I am expecting them to be capable of. I do expect Devimon to be somewhat more dangerous as well though, thanks to the... more organized time and thus power he had as an Angemon.

Point being I don't expect the others to contribute too much more than more technically Champion level combatants to throw at him, which could help cause more bodies in the melee, but also puts them at significant more risk.

Another reason I'd like to try and track down TK to get him as well. I mean, look at the situation Kairi was in. The sooner we knock off Devimon the sooner the black gears go back to being berserk buttons instead of actively intelligent and driven tools used by him.

The sooner Devimon's gone, the better chances the others have.

Even working as distractions so Angemon can take Devimon out without dying is better than what happened in canon.

Except that basically is what happened in canon. Everyone else got bitch-slapped and Angemon had to spend everything he had fresh into Champion to save their asses.
The major difference is that Angemon will be out at the same time as the other Champions rather than taking an attack as a Patamon and digivolving with everyone else already out of commission

And you're still just skipping right by the others. Devimon is more likely than not to be stronger than he was in canon, what do you think will happen to the others if they try to even just fight alongside us here?

It's not about Angemon here, he's far stronger than his canon self. There's barely any need to worry about him getting rebirth'd like what happened in canon, but the others have a very real chance of their digimon not being able to take that kind of heat just from the collateral we'll be tossing around.

Hey now. We got a potential Ultimate in our wings. Assume NOTHING.

Would be amusing if he defeat the other groups and we're the only ones active.

I don't know where you're pulling that one from. Only Crest we got is Light and Kairi's partner isn't here.

And before you say "Izzy" QM's already tearing his hair out with Izzy short-cutting to Champion as is. I'd be calling bullshit of the really bad variety is he short-cut to Ultimate/Perfect like he did Champion, especially with the Crest requirement.

I've been advocating reuniting everyone from the start, so, foregone conclusion.

QM is tearing their hair out due to Izzy unlocking Ultimate. We don't need the Crest for Ultimate. Just unlocking the Trait is enough. Crests are basically meant to speed up the process. The requirement for unlocking his Trait was doing things with Digicode. A fair enough thing if not for one thing. He became Haruka's Apprentice and learned a hell of a lot more Digicode than he should have due to min maxing. I doubt he can create a program to Digivolve to Ultimate, but that doesn't mean his Trait can't activate the roll and attempt to Digivolve.

*Calculates a few things with relationship values* ...Nope, Kabuterimon still doesn't have enough Digicore yet. Give it another segment. I have decided that combat situations are not a place for Izzy to mess around with his Digimon's programming, if only because he'll be focused on staying out of the line of fire. Life-or-death situations are not the time to test out unfamiliar strands of coding.

Ok, makes sense. Izzy does not mix with combat. As such, makes sense his Digimon's stats are a tad to low to Digivolve.

Well looky here, a completely onesided vote, let's fix that shall we :D

Think what would Tai do, then don't do that thing.
