The choice was difficult but, in the end, you chose the route that would allow you to kill The Serpent of Akasha the quickest "Gil, give me that item you were talking about I'm going to end this once and for all."
"I see, then here wear this cap, oh and this bangle too, you'll also need this pendant again." Gilgamesh shoves three items into your hands, as you struggle not to let them spill out of your hold, you recognize the hat from earlier it's what allowed him to turn invisible, the pendant is the one that guided you to Roa in the first place. It didn't take a genius to know what the hat and pendant were for but what was the bracelet all about?
"Hey Gil, I know what the hat and pendant are for but why the bracelet?" you want to know why you need to put it on, Gilgamesh doesn't waste a second seeming to have his mind on other things "It's simply to mask your smell, tracks and other mundane things, Hades's cap will give you invisibility and resistance to magical tracking methods, but it doesn't cover more mundane means of finding you such as smell, the bangle will cover for that weakness."
"So, what you're saying is that these two items have ways to see through them but together they cover each other's weaknesses?" the young archer gives you a look before giving you a mischievous smirk "Yes master couldn't you figure that out on your own? You shouldn't need a child's help to understand that right?"
You feel a blow to your pride as he says that, so you try to divert the topic; seems he hasn't forgiven you for treating him like a stuffed animal. "Wouldn't this have worked when we attacked the castle? Why only use these items now?"
Gilgamesh gives a brief glance at Arjuna before sighing
, good it seems you distracted him from tearing your pride to pieces "That's a good question Master but to sum it up with one word it would be Arjuna."
"Arjuna?" you repeat with confusion, what did your new Archer have to do with not using these items to ambush Roa earlier? It seems Gilgamesh refuses to elaborate since he just gives you a weird smile before staring off into the distance again, yep definitely still upset.
"I believe I can answer that for you Master, while young Gilgamesh might dance around the issue it is quite simple." Arjuna steps into your conversation, noticing he has your attention he continues "I have clairvoyance that allows me to see through invisibility, essentially with me by Roa's side sneaking and ambushing her would've never worked."
"If you could do that then how did Gil here surprise you?" Arjuna has the decency to look embarrassed a blush adorning his face "I was distracted"
Oh, right he was ranting and raving probably too upset to pay attention to his surroundings, you looked at the younger Archer who was staring off into the distance still for some reason; Well he did say he would attack at the best moment and he delivered, although did chaining up his opponent count as attacking? You shrugged things like that were technicalities that you didn't care too much about, so you left it be, focusing on more important issues.
"Okay is this all I need Gil?" the kid finally stops staring at nothing to look at you before giving you a serious nod "Yes Master the only thing remaining is to equip the items, we'll take care of the rest"
You start to put on the items until only the cap as Gil called It remained in your hand "Gilgamesh, Arjuna I want you two to be safe, promise me you'll pull out if it looks bad, alright?" You didn't want to risk your friends, didn't want to lose them.
Your two servants look at you in surprise, silence setting into place until Gilgamesh breaks it with his light laughter, why was he laughing you were serious! When his outburst finally petered out he responded "Master we as Servants, are prepared to battle to the death but you don't really care for that do you? Ahhhh I didn't see this coming, Master if we seem flighty Roa's servants might notice something amiss perhaps ruining your chances at killing him are you okay with that?"
You considered it for a moment, hesitated before you steeled yourself "I won't let Roa take anything precious from me ever again, if he managed to kill you, to steal my friends from me then it will feel like he had the last laugh from beyond the grave, I won't allow that!"
You won't let anything precious be taken from you ever again, not if you could help it, but it seems both your servants are stunned, Arjuna more so than Gil. The blonde kid seemed to stiffen before giving you a look you couldn't place "Friends huh, yeah losing a friend is a terrible thing even enough to make
Him…"
Gilgamesh started muttering to himself, you were going to ask him about it until Arjuna interrupts that with his own question "Master we have only known each other for a few hours at most, do you truly consider me a friend even after seeing
that?" His voice was full of disbelief as if he couldn't believe what he was hearing.
You look at the older Archer "Of course, why wouldn't you be my friend, silly." Arjuna just gapes at you seeming to be dumbstruck as if you were something he couldn't wrap his head around, you weren't that difficult to understand, were you?
Nah, it was probably just Arjuna who's head was weird.
"Even after seeing that side of me, you would still consider me a friend, despite all I've done?" you give the Indian Archer a small frown, deigning to give his dumb question a reply "That's what I just said didn't I? Don't make me repeat myself."
Arjuna just blinks at you before sharing a glance with Gilgamesh who just shrugs in return for some reason. The Indian hero then looks back to you his expression an odd mixture of various emotions again "I truly cannot fathom how your mind works Master, but I will do as you have asked, good luck to you."
What was so hard to understand about you? That was only Arjuna though, it must only be him who can't understand you. You look towards Gilgamesh for him to affirm your belief, but he betrays your expectations "Master your mind is not something we lowly mortals can ever hope to understand."
The brat gives you a small mock bow as he says this, you weren't strange! Were you? No they had to be making fun of you,
ughh you'd get them back for this. You start to frown at them before Gilgamesh gives a hasty response "No need to pout Master we were just complimenting you on your great personality and intellect."
Oh, so they were just saying how great you were! Why didn't they just say you were awesome or amazing? That was a really roundabout way to compliment you, still you couldn't help but puff your chest a bit in pride.
"Of course, I knew that." The two heroes share another glance seeming to avoid your eyes before they quickly wave you off "Master we'll start the distraction now, it would be best if you left now we shouldn't waste too much time."
The two Archers spoke over themselves as they said this, maybe you were taking too long? Staring into the sky you notice that there are only a few more hours before the dawn comes, they were right! There was no time to waste you give a quick wave of goodbye to your servants before you put on Hade's hat and ran towards the direction your necklace was tugging.
(Roa roll 34+20(Night Bonus)=54 vs Arc roll 95+20(Night Bonus)+15(Gil's Help)= 130) 54 vs 130 Massive Arc Victory.
It didn't take long for you to see what your servant's were going to do, as a huge floating fortress was advancing towards your enemies. It was as obvious and showy as possible, well you certainly couldn't miss it, so you suppose it was a great distraction.
You didn't pay any further attention to the grandiose floating structure as you had a snake to skin, it didn't take you long to find Roa, only a few minutes with your extreme speed. There she was, in the middle of nowhere being attended by more of those albino dead apostles along with a few of those golems by her side. You didn't know if a servant was nearby, but you didn't care, her current defense was flimsy at best, even if Roa did have a servant or two it wouldn't change the outcome!
You rush by Roa's retinue unnoticed, until your hand spears through your enemy's heart, you grasp it pulling it out of the girl's ribcage, crushing it in your hand. Sporting a bloodthirsty smirk, you were about to continue your vicious assault, knowing the Akashic Serpent she would regenerate quickly, you couldn't get rid of Roa that easily after all! Then you felt it, the power that Roa stole so long ago flowing back into you,
what?
That's it? After centuries of doggedly hunting down each of his incarnations, after so many trials and hardships, after all those fruitless attempts, Roa was dead, his eighteenth and final host's corpse laying still on the ground. You stood there speechless for a moment while absent mindedly batting away his pathetic excuse for a guard, finally it felt like something snapped as your shock gave way to anger.
"Don't screw with me!" You start to ravage Fiore's corpse kicking and ripping at it with an unholy fervor, your hands sinking into dead flesh as you continued your rampage. "You can't die like that Roa! Not after all you did to me, you didn't deserve a peaceful death, Never, not allowed…"
Your legs collapse as all that you're left with is bitter disappointment, you weren't satisfied, you stared at what's left in front of you, a body mangled beyond recognition, no one could guess it was once a human's from its appearance as it looked more like pieces of red string scattered all around you. There you sat in a mess of flesh until you remembered why you rushed so much, your friends!
You don't know how much time you wasted beating up a corpse, you hastily try to sense them through your bond hoping they're okay. You sense two, four no six bonds in place, you look at your left arm, it was sporting eleven Black Command Seals forming a complex design that you couldn't make heads or tails of, were they still fighting, you didn't know.
Right, how to deal with this? Waiting wasn't helping anything, so you rushed back towards where you last spotted the flying fortress, hoping everything would be alright after your screwup. "Gil, Arjuna please be alright, I, I don't want to be alone anymore."
You didn't want to lose anything ever again, you swore you wouldn't let that happen, you ran at pace that outstripped your previous one, Roa's stolen strength now returned to its rightful owner, you were whole again after centuries, allowing you to do things you were incapable of for so long.
There the fortress was on the ground, it's golden finish cracked and split it's elaborate towers toppled, you increased your pace even further, still unused to this much power, you tripped slamming a hole right through the ruined Noble Phantasm.
"pfft hahaha Drink, drink, drink" You heard a young female voice chant in sadistic glee, were they trying to hurt your servants? Not on your watch! You pick yourself up from the ground, rushing towards the source of the noise until you spot it, a girl forcing some kind of liquid onto Gil, in less than a second you slap away the gold container pressed against your Archer's lips, sending it clattering away spilling whatever it contained.
Gil looks at you with dreary eyes "Mashter wha, whas are you doing here, hic…" he was drunk, you've seen it before enough to recognize the signs, you turn around to glare at the small girl "What did you do to Gil you vixen!"
"Oya, you look tense perhaps you should loosen up a bit Master? You could learn a thing or two from Gilgamesh you know?" Her voice, something was weird, your mind started feeling hazy you looked at Gilgamesh he seemed fine maybe you would listen… Then you saw Gil vomit his stomach out on the floor,
uhh no, quickly you shook your head, you wouldn't allow yourself to be wooed by this child's words!
"Why, Why youuuu…" you were angry, so what if this kid was your servant, trying to mess with your head huh? Well she was going down, you were about to give her a lesson when a familiar voice interrupted you "Master you shouldn't be upset with Shuten, she was only doing what comes naturally to her, instead you should blame young Gilgamesh here for encouraging her."
It was Arjuna, who was slowly sipping some more of that funny smelling liquid that Gilgamesh and Shuten were drinking, you couldn't help but look at him with suspicion, was it alright to trust him after he consumed that stuff?
"Master I must thank you for freeing me from that horrible person, I would like to give you my sincerest thanks." You looked towards the voice and notice it's a white-haired man with a glowing scar on his chest, he was Saber probably uhmmm he was Siegfried, right?
You didn't notice him at all, too focused on helping Gilgamesh against that Oni girl, you check your surroundings trying to see what else you missed in your haste, however the only other thing of notice is a pink haired girl plastered on the floor,
Rider you note, completely knocked out and reeking of that liquid.
You look at your new servants and can't help but be underwhelmed, Heroes of humanity huh, looks like they fell quite easily to the monster known as Shuten-Douji. It seems the only one who didn't partake in that drink was Siegfried he smelled completely free of it. While you didn't trust him that much, by Arjuna's words you knew he was an honorable man so maybe he'd tell you what was going on.
"Siegfried, right? Could you tell me how this" You motion to the drunkards acting like fools. "happened?" You give him a forced smile, but it seemed like it intimidated him instead of doing what you intended, perhaps your teeth were showing?
Saber gave the others a sidelong glance, Arjuna merely shook his head giving Siegfried a slight smile back, while the others didn't seem to notice, he gulped as he gave you a nervous look, come on what was taking this guy so long? Giving him an impatient frown, you snap a reply "Well, hurry up I don't have all night you know!"
Siegfried gave you a sharp salute "Yes Ma'am, I mean Master." Perhaps asking this man was the wrong choice, your frown starts to deepen, causing the Saber to hastily continue "We were uhh fighting for a while until your young Archer boasted to Assassin that he held the greatest liquor to ever grace the world is his possession, that girl has always done as she liked so she disregarded our previous orders and sat down to sample the stuff that came out of his portals, while Rider and I continued to fight Arjuna but those two…" He trailed off shooting the two children an odd look.
You motion for him to continue your already thin patience starting to wear "Right those two just had a drinking party in the middle of the fight, as if they couldn't recognize their comrades were fighting for their lives" The Saber gave a defeated sigh at that "Shuten especially seemed enamored by Gilgamesh's various alcohols and goblets she even claimed he was the greatest man to have lived, while the boy in question simply kept boasting of his many treasures, they seemed to have really hit it off."
Siegfried takes a breath before releasing it, staring at his fellow servants in disappointment well excluding Arjuna "That's when we felt a new bond snap back into place telling us our master had been replaced that paused our fight with Arjuna and when he explained what had happened to himself as well as ourselves. Haah, Astolfo suddenly decided to join in on Shuten's 'victory celebration' as she put it, she couldn't nearly handle her alcohol as well as those two" he pointed at the two youngest looking servants still continuing their festivities "So Rider passed out on the floor, which you probably already noticed."
You did, you can't help but feel the need to massage your temples with the headache you're feeling, okay one more time to get this straight, Gil started some kind of drinking contest with the Oni and the other servants joined in when they felt you become their master. You look towards Arjuna who's still sipping that weird drink from the golden and gem encrusted goblet he was holding "Okay Arjuna could you tell me why you're also drinking that stuff?"
Arjuna gave you a smile "Master congratulations on defeating Roa, you have my sincerest gratitude for putting that menace down for good." Arjuna gave you a slight bow indicating his thanks, Oh you completely forgot about that, you give him a bashful grin in thanks… Wait did he just try to deflect your question?
"Arjuna that's nice and all but answer my question." You don't know why but your smile is twitching, he shifts his eyes avoiding yours seeming to give you a reluctant reply "I was merely sampling the wares my fellow Archer was offering, it would've been rude to decline, and I must say he does not disappoint."
You look crestfallen as the Indian hero continues to sip from his goblet, turning your head away to avoid looking at Arjuna any longer and towards the only bastion of sanity left here, Siegfried.
"So why haven't you had some too, it seems like everyone's doing it." You mutter to him the disappointment clear in your voice, Saber gives a quick glance at the other servants before answering "It would be the height of foolishness to greet my master while drunk so I decided not to join in but…" The Servant of the sword trailed off, so you picked up his statement "But?"
"I also want to see what the fuss is about, but only with your permission master." Your hope is shattered as Siegfried also betrays you for booze, well at least he's asking for your permission unlike the others. "Sure, just, just do whatever"
"My thanks, Master." Siegfried gives you a happy smile as you wave him off, he swiftly joins in the revelry being handed a gaudily golden goblet by the Vixen. You stare at your servant's with a dead look in you eyes, were these truly great heroes out of legend? As you looked at them fooling around you simply couldn't believe that they were anything but a bunch of useless drunkards, what were you going to do about this mess?
What does Arcueid finally decide to do?
[] To hell with it, if you can't beat them join them!
[] No drinking was bad! It made people act stupid after all!
-[] Try to drive some sense into Gil, he'll see the light surely!
-[] Scold the vixen, you'll teach her better than to rub her bad habits onto Gil.
[] Wait! Where's Caster?!
A/N: So I couldn't really find a good place to end this chapter but I think I did the best I could without making it way too long. Also Shuten-Douji and Gilgamesh are now the best of friends so yaay?(They're actually extremely compatible, well with the younger version of Gil at least, his Older version is simply too arrogant to get along with her and he'd just hate her since she's a non-human)
So the confrontation with Roa was completely anti-climactic simply because Arc rolled monstrously good against him and his roll was pretty bad, so nothing bad happened to your servants and they're actually getting along pretty well, just thank your roll for that
. BTW do you want to see the rolls or just not have me include them in chapters?
I would also like to know if some people thought the interactions were too OOC since I rushed this chapter I might have missed their characterizations.
