Ah fuuuuuuck. I don't know a whole lot about MtG, but one thing I do know is that Phyrexian Oil is BAD NEWS. Is there any know way to get rid of that shit ? Can we beg daddy dearest to lend us Avalon for a second ?
"More then I suspect you do." Merlin retorted. "But there's precious little time and too many cauldrons waiting to explode." He paused. "Perhaps that would be a good one to get out of the way. Who exactly do you think your father is?"
"King Lot. Are you mad?"
"If you were the daughter of King Lot, then there would be little hope of your survival even this long." Merlin seemed to chuckle at that.
"Excuse me?"
"Oh come off it Mordred and take off the helmet. I saw your face plenty of times when I was instructing Arthur in the way of the sword." Merlin retorted drily. "You and your father are spitting images of each other; I'm surprised you haven't noticed yet."
"Bullshit."
"Believe what you wish. I tell the truth only because it is necessary." Merlin answered. He took a seat at the table almost absently, sipping from some tea. "It is good, you know."
"What is so damn im-" The words died in my throat. "What the hell is that?" It was long, like a thin, grey, knotted scar that ran from the middle of my bicep to the middle of my forearm. Merlin did not look. He did not speak. "Merlin, explain."
"I can only see what belongs of this world. It was the first hint something was wrong. I thought you dead until Lamorak and Gawain sent word." Merlin answered. "Take off the armour and sit. I'll seal the arm for now, but it will not last."
"He means that Secace is enchanted to only draw blood in mortal combat." The king rolled his eyes at Merlin's antics. "It was the sword I trained with back in the day."
That explained the kings nostalgia, for sure.
You're thinking of Melira, and the reason she's immune is...uh, reasons? She, and everyone else, legitimately have no idea as to why she's immune save for the fact that she's the only native of Mirrodin who was born without any metal on or in her body. Even then, she has limits as she couldn't cure Karn fully, hence why Venser has to rip out his own heart so they could transplant it into the golem to finish the purification process.Glistening oil, the main vehicle for Phyrexian corruption in other words. On Mirrodin at least (Most planes in Magic really) you're pretty much guaranteed to be 'compleated' (read: transformed into a phyrexian abomination) from as much as a single drop entering you, or possibly even touching bare skin. The only exception is some elf on Mirrodin and her followers, though I forget how they pull it off, and depending on where this is in the timeline, she might be dead.
That said, this is fate-verse we're crossed with. Merlin may not be able to do more than slow the corruption, but even slowing it is a lot more than most native denizens of M:tG can do. It won't be easy, and we'll probably have to be very careful around phyrexian opponents lest we hasten the corruption or get other parts of our body infected. But if we search hard enough, we *might* be able to find a cure before it's too late.
That's hardly the only thing it does, otherwise Shirou wouldn't have come out of mud pit Kirei threw him into during the Fate Route in as good a shape as he did. Avalon definitely destroy corruption and impurities with its merciless light.Avalon only prevents death, but see, Phyrexian oil doesn't kill you at all...
At least that's why I would say Avalon wouldn't work... Hadou might have a different reasoning.

Also, the fact that Phyrexians are being treated as Velber-tier threat means that most, if not all, methods pertaining to the world will have little to no effect. RIP Mo-tan; at least compleation will lead to a resolution to her daddy issues.![]()
Shirou kinda just got through that via willpower and Avalon bounded field blocking out the rest. Avalon doesn't destroy shit; it just shields, heals, and protects. That's hardly the only thing it does, otherwise Shirou wouldn't have come out of mud pit Kirei threw him into during the Fate Route in as good a shape as he did. Things from beyond like Velber and TYPES are generally outside context problems because they run on a completely different paradigm; if our world is a PC then they're a Linux, so things that operate for our world and its rules don't do so well on the outsider the same way you can't get your PC-only programs to work on a Linux.Ehh... Seems a little premature to be assuming all is lost right at the start of the quest. I'm not sure how much I can say, but I have been discussing fate lore, and I think there are at least two or three present -if not immediately available ways to combat this. Without loss of limbs I mean.
I don't think that's ever happening in our wildest dreams. We should find some way into sweet talking Arturia into giving us Rhongomyniad somehow.
That's Mordred's sword arm. Remove it and you'll need a new MC.
We'll be delighted to "armchair General" or something. That's Mordred's sword arm. Remove it and you'll need a new MC.

We can survive without a CURSED ARM THAT WILL KILL US OR DO EVEN WORSE THINGS TO OUR BODY AND OUR MIND AS IT SPREADS TO WHATEVER IT TOUCHES!!
Can't we just cut off the grey bits? That's Mordred's sword arm. Remove it and you'll need a new MC.
