    If a thread has been dead for years, it's considered rude to post something in there. It generally means the authors have moved on from that work and there's no more discussion to be had.

    And you're lucky that SV is more forgiving in this regard, on spacebattles you'd eat infractions for necroing old threads.

    Basically, if a thread is dead, let it rest in peace.

    Huh. In my last forum, it was considered fine to post long after the original thread was stopped.

    It was perceived less as rude necroing and more support for the thread even after it was originally stopped. It was normal to see people still commenting on fics years after the last thread mark was posted
