I believe in creativity shared.
If I were to fight for a future, it would be one where fanworks could be placed on equal ground with their predecessors. Star Wars Rebels is a beautiful example of what can happen when a universe is shared, when its fans are allowed to take the story and run with it. Just look at the Lego Movie, that's basically a massive OC-centric crossover fic, and it's beautiful. Why isn't this happening more? Why is transformative fiction in general so looked down on? Yes, 90% of everything is lame, but that 10% is well worth the finding. [Even if it sometimes feels more like 1%]
