"One of the best pieces of advice I've gotten about writing in any context is to treat the subject material as charitably as possible. It makes your work stronger if you look for the best in what other people have written - it's easy to bash, but harder to try and represent stuff fairly." - helnae
There are actually three types of reviewing method. Negative, deconstructive and constructive. Often, deconstructive and constructive get lumped in together when they really, really shouldn't be. Negative reviewing is; "That sucked." No helpful content at all and easiest to recognise. Deconstructive reviewing is; "That sucked for these reasons. These are the reasons why it doesn't work and/or evidence of it not working in the past." Helpful in the 'what not to do' way. Constructive reviewing is; "That sucked for these reasons. This is how you could have done it so that it didn't suck." Helpful in the 'how to do it better' way. - Mgunh1
